Of course, Ghana under Dr. Kofi Busia expelled Nigerians, mostly Yari.ba peeps, from Ghana in 1972. I guess Nigeria retaliated in 1978/79 under Shehu Shagari. I known most Nigerians to jump into silly comparison without weighing the facts before them. If Biafra becomes independence as long as Ghana did before expelling Nigerians, then form of expulsion initiated by dumbass Nigeria will be followed in kind and even more by the Republic of Biafra.

Another unintelligent one... and a liar too.

You just claimed it didn't happen, I proved to you that it did, then you blame it on another ethnic group.

You know what my Ghanaian friend just said to me while laughing? "I don't know if we kicked out the Yari.ba or ibo peeps, all I know is that we drove NIGERIANS out of our country".

Take that how you want while deceiving yourself in the process.

I'm not the type to advocate for war but I'll never cower under threats of war made to my people as your Nigerian pro-war noisemaker did in his post ab initio, if it will come down to war better know your allies now, cause the dynamics of time isn't the same, not everyone will take sides with Nigeria this time, maybe it will be Hausa/Fulani vs Igbo affair this time, of course the yorubas will either sit it out on this one or sheepishly follow their Northern masters from the rear again, either way you better know which people will decide to fight for a dying nation like Nigeria this time around.

Ok let us get some education. When Biafra becomes a country, it will be part of ECOWAS and Nigeria will also be part of ECOWAS. So both countries will be governed by ECOWAS rules and statutes as fas as movement of people and immigration is all about.
Those in the Fed civil service will convert to Biafran fed civil service. Those Nigerians in the Fed civil service in Biafra will relocate to Nigerian fed civil service

You have still not thought it through carefully. sad Which country is the largest contributor of resources to ECOWAS in both human and financial terms? Nigeria. And when this country sneezes, every other member state catches cold.

ECOWAS membership does not take away your right as a country to enforce immigration laws and policies to protect your citizens. Those treaties exist on paper, but enforcing it is another thing. I have lost count of the number of times I had to pay additional fees at Benin Republic border in order to get my passport stamped for entry into Cotonou, despite the fact that there is an ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement of People among the Member States, in place. There are several ways to circumvent the treaty, but I do not want to spill the beans here.... cheesy

An embargo is a government order that restricts commerce or exchange with a specified country or the exchange of specific goods. An embargo is usually created as a result of unfavorable political or economic circumstances between nations. It has nothing to do with international law.

international law: a body of rules established by custom or treaty and recognized by nations as binding in their relations with one another.

There you are, take embargo or international law at least two nations must be involved.

This is funny. A people said that they do not want to be one with you again and you're worried about what will happen to them when they leave? Is this love or possessiveness? Sounds like what a possessive and abusive husband will do.

If you love them that much then why give them reason to leave?

My grandmother used to say that whoever is chasing something is also running past something. Igbos will lose so many things when they get Biafra, that's sure but they have been losing since I was born. Shops being burnt for the world's stupidest reason, losing lives etc so it's not new to them.

Once Biafra is declared, North will become a hot zone for all Igbos, it has always been but it will be multiplied by 100 this time. All Igbos in the North are heading East, this too is not new because they all headed East in 2015 during presidential election.

Even if the Yorubas will accommodate Igbos it will be if they get Odua too, I don't see it happening in one Nigeria(Yoruba and Hausa) but I believe what they got(their own country) is worth the loss.

On point!

I like that your grandmother quote, saving it for the future.

Please where are you from?

If you take Britain that just left the EU, over 3 million EU citizens in the UK. Will Britain deport them? No, not really.

In the event of Biafra seceding from Nigeria, both sides will have to discuss the sharing of assets, liabilities and debts. This means that there will be a discussion on 'Biafra/Nigeria' reltionship and the status of its citizens. A 'transition period' will have to be agreed on to allow the agreemwnts take effect

It is not likely that Nigeria will start deporting all Igbos straightaway as this could illegal under international law. Another reason why Nigeria wont do this is because it will damage Nigeria and the Nigerian economy irreparably before the international community. No international investor will ever step foot in Nigeria ever again when hear that Nigeria deported millions of people it once called brothers.

Such mass deportations only destroys the credibility of a country

You've got to be joking. I don't think you people are thinking this through. You keep repeating "international community" like someone somewhere has an obligation to ensure Ibos get whatever they want? Trying to eat your cake and still keep it in your hands.

Latest estimates put the number of Igbos resident outside their region at 7 to 10 million.

Some figures go as high as 15 million.

Is the SE prepared to welcome this number of "returnees", after they are declared illegal aliens in Nigeria, and promptly deported?

OP, Let me correct one impression. Biafra is not an Igbo thing, Biafra is beyond the Igbo construct which has been polluting the cyber-space. I am not Igbo, yet my father lost everything to that war. To me, Biafra is cry against marginalization, a cry against the inhumanity of man against fellow humans. Biafran represents something more than a country. It is a courage to say, 'No' to slavery.

The Answer to your question is NO. Nigeria can not deport Biafrans after secession, this is not 1970s. Biafrans resident in Nigeria and Nigerians residents in Biafra will be offered provisional citizenships with first right of refusal. Sane countries know the value of human resources. If Biafrans are to withdraw 100% from Nigeria. There will be chaos.

* Based on International Law on Migration of the ECOWAS 16-member countries, they will be required to get a Biafran Passport and Resident Permit in Nigeria. And the Nigerians living in Biafra will be required to do the same. Both Nigerians and Biafrans will be given at least 5 years to work out the terms of migration. Travels within the ECOWAS 16-member countries has been VISA-free and will remain so. What is required is resident permit.

* Based on International Migration laws, which I believe same will apply to Nigeria-Biafra relationship, if you own a Landed Property within the country, you are automatically qualified and have fight right of refusal on Nigerian Citizenship. I know many Biafrans will like to move away from Nigeria, and I am one of them, but will lease/rent out my houses in Nigeria and be paying tax to the Nigeria government while I go back to build Biafra. I will not hesitate to go back and help build Biafra to one of the best countries in the world.

* I will keep the last point to myself.

afford to leave your cesspit for you, we did it in 1967, we can certainly do it in 2017! All that is lost can be replaced, but there is no substitute for freedom, for freedom is life.

The Biafra thing will be a disaster for the average Igbo guy, who will just turn to a local champion.

No more shuttling around Naija. Once you leave Owerri, Enugu, Aba, Onitsha etc, you are a marked man. You enter Jos, trouble. Find yourself in Benin, wahala. Kaduna, forget it. Abuja, who dash you? Lagos, the worst. Na bulala dem go take drive you.

Are you guys really ready for that kind of life?

There is nothing in Nigeria that warrants anyone trying to stay behind here. The place is a mess. With Biafra, only a mad person will like to live in Lagos. I will move back to my paradise home and visit here on Business only, just to make sure I grab as much profits from Nigerians to continue to build our territory. Is Nigeria not a mess already ?

There's a big problem with your assumptions here. Most serious trading nations have set up protectionist barriers that prevent the "trade and expansion" of your imagination. Plus, you will struggle to compete with China and the like, for access to those markets. With Nigeria, you have a 200 million-strong market at your disposal. Nigeria is projected to be the world's 3rd most populous nation, after China and India, by 2050, with a population surpassing 1 billion. Those statistics are GOLD for the industrious and entrepreneurial Igbos. But they want to abandon this huge market, this world class opportunity to really explode their wealth and reach, to retreat into some tiny ethnic kingdom, for reasons best known to them. Not smart at all.

Lol! Goldmine are all over the world for an entrepreneurial mind. But wealth without security is living on borrowed time.

Ndiigbo won't miss Nigeria. Not one bit. China has all the population in the world, yet Taiwan wants her sovereignty retained, ever wondered why?

You will not spill the beans because there is no beans to spill. ECOWAS Treaty guarantees freedom of movement for the citizens of the 16-member states (soon 17). Biafrans will move enmasse out of Nigeria and build a 21-century digitalized country. The Human Resources available in the South South/South East Region will eclipse Nigeria within 2 years. All the Oil companies will be forced to shutdown offices in Nigeria and relocate to Biafra and our airports will be busy receiving FDIs than never before seen in the history of a new country.

We will have Christianity and Judaism as Religions. Which means, TErrorism will be alien to us. Financial watchdogs will not blacklist Biafra so that means, free flow of FDIs. Una go pay una World Bank and IMF loans tire without Oil.

Why would anyone choose to stay behind in a country that can not even generate more than 400 MW of electricity needless to keep the electricity running for 24hrs. Come on, men. Nigerians will BEG to visit Biafra. That is the truth.
