Bros, I just tire. We too dey look for shortcuts.

Asking not because I have it figured. Not at all. Just need you to show me where it said so in the visa requirements that you have to apply in the country where you hold work or study visa and visitor visa? Checked on the CIC website this morning, says processing time in Nigeria is 18 weeks, 20 weeks in Accra Ghana, etc.

Boss, the best thing is apply in Nigeria. There is no point going back and forth on this matter.

However, what do I know?

Let us know when you apply from cameroun.

Bro/sis, for the sake of others that will be reading this later, i had to make this point. Just as @Maziude ,@mcobex have mentioned. Legal resident status here also mean a place where you have a strong tie with. Such ties must have you engaged in your resident country.

A visitor's visa won't give you such resident status. Work ,study visas or a permanent resident does give such status.
IRCC website and the visa office of each country stipulates that foreigners applying from such country must hold a valid temporal permits or a permanent resident permit. (check their website and applicable visa office instructions).
You cannot go to Cameroon with a visitor's visa and apply for a study permit. You do not have any tie with cameroun that will give you resident rights(Temporary/permanent) other than visiting. Your application will be thrown out immediately you apply there with a visitor's visa. Forget the long processing times you see, majority of the study permit are processed WITHIN this time frame. We still have exceptions still but averagely, applications do not extend throughout that duration.

So prepare your application and apply NOW that you still have some time.

Regards.

Oga sir I don't know about SOWP...am still expecting my trv from the VO

Hello,
Kindly see my responses below:

1. SOWP = spousal open work permit which means the souse (husband/wife) will be given a work permit at the port of entry and the open mean he/she can work for any employer.

2. The spouse will have a worker status in Canada hence is not permitted to enroll in any institution.

3. Visa and permit duration will be same as that of the primary applicant (Full time student). Note: Ensure passports are able to accommodate at least 3 years.

4. It is much better to have a wedding certificate (from a court not church) of about 1 year at least or risk being labelled a sham.

5. Do read up the application process on the CIC website as its too lengthy for me to type and I'm not permitted to make my seemingly usual reference.

Hope this helps.

Applying in Cameroun would even raise red flags. The weeks stated on CIC are like some gurus here pointed out "average processing times". It doesn't necessarily mean yours would take the exact time. Every application is different and hence handled with a different timeline

jnyuwa02:

Hey Chairman, where does it say that country you apply to, you have to be a permanent residence? Applying now in Nigeria says 18 weeks processing time, which will put me in October, way beyond when I am required to report to school. If you can get a visa to the U.S. and apply for a Canadian visa there as suggested on this forum by someone, why can't I get a Cameroonian visa and apply for a Canadian visa there where it takes only three weeks?

Dey just vex for this my Cameroon guy. Had to start checking processing times on different browsers to make sure it was still 14 weeks grin

Thanks for the link bro. But nothing here in the link says you cannot apply if visiting another country and must have strong ties to that country. It says only that you must give only a good reason for applying outside of your country. I swear I checked CIC website this morning around 3am and it says 18 weeks for Nigeria, 20 weeks for Ghana. I will check again. If this hold true, then I will be out of time. It will be sufficient reason in my opinion why to go somewhere else with shorter waiting time to apply. Plus the college has only issued temporal papers to me at this point, waiting for the real deal documents. So I cannot apply now. Thanks for all your opinions. I will keep you all posted and if I have any questions, will be appreciative of someone can tackle. Thanks again!

Hi gurus in the House.

My wife is filling out the form for a study permit (1294E). In the section details of intended study in Canada question 6a "My expenses in Canada will be paid by:
Myself
Parents
Other.

What will she select? myself or other. The account where the funds is domiciled is a joint account with myself(Husband). She is a signatory to the account and the mandate is either can withdraw. She has been working for ten years now and is going for an MBA. I am also working.

Thanks for your prompt response/s.

First, u are not suppose to book ur flight b4 u get ur trv (it is well stated ). secondly, check all the details u used in login and see if there's a mistake if not keep trying it and it will show u (look out for ur date of birth, and other security questions u filled while opening the account )
