Hell No

My mom died when I was 10, after a short while he remarried against the wish of his 5 kids, his focus has been on his new wife , he isn't responsible for my education, I paid for my own waec, and a loving man took care of my schooling till the level I have gotten, Infact I don't want to talk about it. God forbid I end up with such a man, I and my rest siblings contribute to take care and send the last child of the family to school who's only just 15, meanwhile he still works, I pray my enemy doesn't end up with such man, I grew up not understanding a mother's love, and he didn't help for the fatherly love to patch that up either.
This is quite touching. So sorry dear.
May you all make it in life.

Before you blame your pop, access your mom's behaviour at home. I am married and has cheated on my wife ones and doubt if I will stop. Her behavior is unacceptable. Not that she cheats or well I have not caught her though but her attitude stinks. I am strongly contemplating polygamy. I love my children very much.
My dad was the best. I know too that it was because my mom was and is still a wonderful woman. Dad is dead though. He was a great dad and husband. My mom always tell me to take his ways. Well I did before but I have become a loser for it. I am barely 38 and is how battling hypertension now. I basically live on drugs daily. My wife's attitude contributed to it.

The one thing that scares me in this thread is the realization that daughters dont love their fathers....this much. Very Sad

The relationship between these two people can be so strong even a husband or boyfriend would be jealous of the father. I won't say maybe its because I grew up with only a father, but fathers are a ladies best confidant.

My high school graduation, sporting weekends, summer camps, driving, standing with a boy (the yelling that evening grin), university, first day at work.....He was there, smiling and bragging about his job well done. He will be there when I get married....and give that dude hell grin. I can just imagine that crooked thumb he points with when he is about to talk out of line

Soon, just soon, I think being born male will be a problem.

God forbid!

my dad is an amazing dad but the worst husband.
he treats us like princes and princesses but treats our mother his wife like trash.

I'd rather stay single than marry a man like him

And do you know why he does so? If he is amazing, there is a high likelihood your mum did something wrong or is not a great wife. I will suggest you judge your father as a father and not as a husband

I slightly disagree with you on these, I believe instead that mothers has failed, most women tend to play the victim cards, even when there is problems between couples, the children should never be involved. When the two of them started the relationship the children were not there, so when issue arises couples should stop placing their children in between especially mothers. Growing up I remember when my parents had little misunderstanding we always want to take sides with mum, but she always remind us not to and assure us that our father isn't a bad man and he is best person for her. Today now we are grown ups and they are the only one at home living together like newly wedded couples. Some people condemning their father has received more humiliation from their boyfriends than what their mother experienced in marriage, yet they stay put to the relationship hoping it will lead to marriage.

Your mother is a good woman. Women play victim and don't realize they are hurting their children, a child needs both parents and parents need to encourage children to be close to both parents regardless of their differences.

You're the one who's cheating, yet she's the bad person?
Talk about deluded.

Even some men are saying NO.
So it's not a daughter thing really. I know the thread is looking for women's response .

mehn, see well constructive ambiguous grammar. but I still want to draw your attention to the first paragraph of your comment,my dear sister the male child is still very much important till date, the male child are those that will carry to mantle of leadership of the family in some cases where the father stopped, the females will never to that, they will rather concentrate on the husband and children,so you one of the reasons why the male child is important..A man will always want his name to live after his death..

And how has this archaic mentality/culture of preserving the family name made Africa any better or more progressive?

How won't you have hypertension when you're busy cheating around? If you have issues with your wife, you find a way to sort it out with her rather than exposing both of you to STDs. If she's upsetting you in any way and you can't call her to order, report her to those who can. Rather than squander money on side sluts, book some therapy and counseling sessions. If those doesn't work, then go your separate ways. The way you men glorify infidelity is sickening. If your daughters say they don't want to marry a man like you now, you and your ilks will start foaming in the mouth. Nigerian men, change!!!

I wonder why his daughter would want to marry a man who cheats on her. She will definitely say no to marrying someone like her father.
Guess what? He will blame his wife for it (as he already is doing). He will blame his wife for his behavior and blame her for his daughter's decisions. Like kids can't see.

The truth is children are not fools and can differentiate between 'minor' disagreements and the maltreatment of their mother & themselves.

I am sure that most peeps don't even 'hate' the fathers for the adultery. ..

It's the abuse (not discipline like flogging or physical punishments) they/ their mothers suffered triggering this reactions.

They also know that their fathers are not perfect and will make allowance for them.

I have seen children who love their imperfect dads and children who hate their dads..... trust me, the difference is clear.

I have an uncle who was 'terrible' to his wife yet visibly cared for his children physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially and his kids love & admired him till his death.

Another relative cared for his kids in poverty & wealth despite his escapades and his kids love him.

I am intentionally picking men who might not be fantastic to their wives yet good fathers (not financial only) and celebrated by their kids.

I know wives who stay with 'horrible' husband's because theit husbands are good fathers.

Do some women play victim? Yes! However, they are the minority.

If husbands/fathers step up their game, their girls would want to marry someone like them.

Sincerely ,if I was a woman , I wouldn't marry a man like my father oooo. The guy is polygamous, quick to anger, one.way thinking, doesn't care if he hurts others feelings, doesn't give a single bleep to ask you what is going on in your life, shouts at my mom for everything , even though she goes to work with him, he still shouts at her for his food not being ready , even threaten to hit her with sharp objects at any little provocation, I grew up watching a tyrant, oppressor and s stone hearted man, but thank God for my life, I have a soft heart and will never be a man like my dad.

U have a soft heart Yet your name is bullet, tyranny is already in built in u.. ...*winks*
