Yes I know.
It had a stronger value than the Naira till 2012.
If you lived in Ghana then, you'd know this.
how? Was it ever higher than the dollar? $ 100 has never equalled N1,000 000

That is not an indication to a good Economy. if the crude oil should dry up, what will they rely on? Gaddahfi practiced socialism in Libya because oil money seems to be flowing in.

Compare to South Korea which is a manufacturing hub.

Yes sir, in ALL levels of government from local to state to federal.
Does that mean that we, the citizens, who elected and/or ALLOWED them to rule over us are even MORE clueless?

3. Ghanaians Cedis.

West African country, one of the closest neighbor to Nigeria.

Ghana, with a growing and well managed economy.

This has earned them third spot with the Ghanaian cedis has the their highest currency in Africa.

Also, many years back, their situation could not even be compared to what is obtainable in Nigeria but as we have it today, some would even argue that they are better developed.

One Ghanaian Cedis is equal to 79 Naira.

Comparing it with the dollar, it is approximately 4 Ghanaian cedis that’s one U.S dollar.

Naira is far more valuable than the Ghanian Cedis. Ghana reduced 4 zeros of 10,000 Cedis to print new Cedis as 1 unit. If you remove four zeros from 10,000 Naira it means 1Naira will be equal to 30Dollar or 120 Cedis.

We can blame our leaders all we want, we are also part of the reasons our beloved Naira is declining.

=>Let's reduce our dependence on imported goods and buy more of locally made goods

=>Let's do more to fight corruption at all levels

=>Let's speak and act in one voice by voting out corrupt political office holders (they are directly behind the Naira decline - with their massive foreign investments)

The list goes on and on

IF WE BELIEVE WE CAN, WE WILL wink

The above is what I sing to any one who cares to listen !

And the Naira keeps going down.

It will soon go up to N1 to the dollar as Buhari promised over two years ago.
Once he returns from the medical tourism in London that will be his priority.
Or the rate will go back to N200 that Jonathan handed over to Buhari in 2015.

Are the leaders not supposed to show example for us to follow?
Buhari is in London for treatment after banning government officials from doing the same and spending our scarce foreign exchange. The same Buhari budgeted more money for the Aso Rock clinic than all Teaching hospitals combined.
Yet he claims to be fighting corruption?
Which sensible person would believe that?

Abi now. The so-called leaders are united in siphoning our resources, while at the same time keeping us (the masses) busy with inter-religious war, inter-tribal wars, etc.

I know one day, the Nigerian (youths most especially) will come out of their drunkenness and awake from their slumbers to fight for their rights.

I'll recommend you read my point again, it seems you didn't even get my point grin grin

Our case is like that lion who has always been dominated by a dog since his cub days, it'll get used to being dominated by the same dog in his adulthood unless it discovers itself.

Now getting back to the issue at hand, the average Nigerian doesn't really care how leaders are appointed into political offices, yet they want the best hands to handle the affairs of the nation; again we can't really know peoples' motives, but we sure can make them do what we want if we rise up in one voice (not just on the internet).

Everyone has an opinion, what you saw up there is mine and I'm sure you have yours too; in the end we all want to come out of this mess our fathers before us have gotten us into.

I hope you understand now. Cheers!!!

My brother, you couldn't have said it any better. These people have so rubbished our sensibility that I often ask myself, if I am the foolish one?

How will these criminals unite in ensuring that all monies for development are shared amongst them! While we ( the masses) bother ourselves with herdsmen, Christians, Muslims, Igbos , afonja, etc . When will the scale fall off our eyes ( the Nigerian people )so we can unianimously fight our common enemy ?

any currency that is not backed with a strong economy is just redomination and is useless, you are just lying to yourself and trying to hide your inflation %, eg ghana cedi.

strong currencies in africa are the rand and egyptian pound. others are just face savers
