Who strong currency help?

Nigeria is still richer than Ghana on GDP per capita basis.

South Korea and Japan have much better economies than all these countries on this list yet their currency is very low in nominal value terms.

Though Cedis was far stronger than Naira till 2012.
was never stronger. Do you know what knocking out many zeros mean? 1,000 000 cedis is now equals 100

3. Ghanaians Cedis.

West African country, one of the closest neighbor to Nigeria.

Ghana, with a growing and well managed economy.

This has earned them third spot with the Ghanaian cedis has the their highest currency in Africa.

Also, many years back, their situation could not even be compared to what is obtainable in Nigeria but as we have it today, some would even argue that they are better developed.

One Ghanaian Cedis is equal to 79 Naira.

Comparing it with the dollar, it is approximately 4 Ghanaian cedis that’s one U.S dollar.
the irony is that alot of Nigerians will still encourage themselves with the word "oh! they just removed the zero's" desite it's so glaring to see... in hilakonji they the currency changers don't like accepting naira.

It is not the exchange rate of the country currency that determines the standard of living but Manufacturing and Exportation of goods and services that does that.

Compare South Korean Won to Libya Dinar.

Then compare their standard of living.

which is more developed?

You took the words out of my mouth. A smart head you've got!

Very few of those currencies have reasonable purchasing power compared 2 Naira.

exchange rate may be stable in their countries but economic indices via market power might not

That of Ghana can be done by any country.
Re-evaluation of a currency can even be done by the poorest nation in the world.

Explorer you goofed on the Ghana Cedis.

Secondly, Eritrea is not an island.

LOLHow many Nigerians know that? many Nigerians youths will storm the thread hurling curses at their country not knowing that serious manufacturing economies like Turkey and China once crashed their currencies on purpose to gain an economic end.

Indomie generation indeed.
The uninformed ones keep shouting Ghana Cedis without knowing this.
That currency still remain as useless as it was even before knocking off the zeros because in reality it makes no difference.

Even Sudan is pulling its weight in Africa despite the years of warring and wastage.

Anyone who keeps thinking Nigeria is going to pull out of the rot with its present system of government is downright insane.
It is insanity that will make one to keep doin the same thing over and again, yet expects to see a different result. If 57 years isn't more than enough time to realize how stewpid we've been, then ours is a lost cause!
A strong currency in and of itself does not directly translate to a strong economy. A country whose currency is weak might experience a relatively strong thriving economy. It all depends on the exchange rate policy a country wishes to operate at a particular point in time. Take for example china.

LISTEN UP:

That those countries have a better exchange rate does not mean they have a better economy.

E.g 1kuwaiti dinar = 3.30dollars.

Does that make Kuwaiti economy better than that of the US?
But standard of living in the US is higher when compared to Kuwait......

bros. do not be brain washed by western propaganda. before the american mess in Libya ,Libyans had a very high standard of living, manufacturing might dosn't have to mean everything. we have other aspects of the economy that affects the value of currency e.g is the Qatar,it has tourism
