First of all, I'm not a woman. Gender equality, as the word (GENDER, NOT FEMALE EQUALITY), it is for male and female, just because the female genders are on the receiving end of what society demand the way thing out to be that make our men go wild when equality is mentioned. It is just to protect genders from the barbaric of some cultures. For instance in my tribe where woman are forbidden from owning family lands or in some communities where brother-laws has the right to strip wifies their properties she and the husband build together if the husband is no more even some communities go to the extent of taking wifies as a concubine. Gender equality has never been women wanting to take over their husband roles far from it. In Nigeria, where we don't have separation of church and state religious leaders also see gender equality as a threat. In developed countries, the gender equality are mainly things like equal pay, maternity leaves, whether women has the right to fight in wars etc.

I've written over 25 papers on gender inequality and I've come to realize our own version of gender equality in Nigeria is impossible to achieve. Women already earn same salary with their male counterparts in the corporate world..in fact, women get more and better jobs than men. Same applies to every other sector.

None of these so called feminist is interested in the actual meaning of gender equality. The agitators are only interested in changing the Nigerian partriachial (social) system - This for me is IMPOSSIBLE.

@OP, I have to applaud your writeup because I share the same opinion, however, there is a difference between s.ex. and gender.

S.ex. is biologically determined as female and male according to specific physical features which are fixed. Whoever tries to change this is plainly displaying some moments of incurable ins.anity.

Gender on the other hand is defined as a system of roles relationship between women and men, that are determined not biologically but by social, political or economic context.

So, for me both se. x equality and gender equality are not achievable because an attempt to change our partriachial social system is tantamount to a collapsed social belief/morals.
