Good morning gogedda.
Please be aware there is another auction next week. Endeavour to submit your instruction asap, preferably on Monday; 19 June. There is no auction on 28 June, but there's one on 21 June. I will upload the Treasury bills timetable again for this quarter. Good luck with your application

Thanks very much for this info. I actually saw the timetable and saved it too but did not notice the change.

Public holidays are anticipated for next week Monday June 26 and Tuesday June 27. That may be the reason for the change of dates.

Just got out of a firstbank branch, I was shown secondary market tenor of 18.3% for 360days and 18.1% for 304days. Before i finished filling the form.. Everything got mobbed up.
Also now you are expected to attach postage stamps to the mandate form you fill..

I just got out from Stabic IBTC and the lady is insisting that the next auction would hold on the 28th against 21st you are talking about.

Feelamong, amjustme2 or anyone? Any input?

I have done several Secondary market transactions without any issue. I will advise you to speak to only bankers that understand Treasury Bills. Incidentally many of them either dont know or dont want you to invest in Tbills.

When you invest in Treasury Bills, You have invested in the Sovereign debt of the nation. The bank only stand as agents. That is why Treasury Bills are now warehoused by Custodians. Even if the banks crash, your Tbills are still very much Intact. This is why they are regarded as the safest instrument to invest in all over the world.

Good decision...bt I need the longer tenor. Having compared some of the rates in the secondary market with their tenors, i have come to conclude that longer tenors are better than the shorter ones even though the difference in rates between primary nd secondary market may appear ignorable.

Even in the primary market, if u decide to invest in the 182days tenor twice in a year, it does not add up to the interest you get when you invest in the 364days tenor. Except that the advantage in short tenor investment is that it matures quickly and U get your money back to diversify.

I needed a short tenure that's why I opted for the secondary market otherwise I would have waited for the next primary auction.

Did you get that rate at Stanbic? shocked GTB and Access give about 13.5% for similar tenor, even one slightly longer.

Does Stanbic bank offer certificate for treasury bills bought from them?

They issue an electronic confirmation of investment in treasury bills.
This should contain - face value, discount value, transaction fee, effective date and maturity date, commission amount, safe keeping fee and bid rate.

I.am not certain of hard copy certificate/confirmation.
Hope this helps

use stanbic IBTC or First Bank.
go for 364 days tenor to get at least 18% interest at the next auction after you apply.

200k should fetch you about 36k yearly at current rates and its a good start!
some started with 100k only.
ride on!

issuing hard copy certificates will slow down this investment medium and
increase the cost of investing.

paper and ink is old school and expensive technology.

accept electronic certs..
