Amarabae: You took a huge risk posting this because all the sentiment-whipping financial insecure men will come for you. That being said, everyone has been broke at a certain time in their lives; Everyone started from 'scratch' (scratch here is relative. Let me know if you want me to explain). There is nothing wrong in being a broke guy, it's just an unfortunate circumstance in life. Being broke doesn't mean you'll never be rich and it doesn't mean you'll be rich either. There some men who started broke and are still broke till today. If a lady wants to date/marry a broke guy then it should be for genuine reasons. If she can cope with poverty/struggle then fine, else she should keep a distance from that man because it's possible that he'll remain broke whether he works hard or not. Let's not deceive ourselves, Everyone wants to make money; no one wants to be POOR. Personally, i wouldn't want to start from the bottom with anyone because my parents have created a platform for me. I went to very good and expensive schools, got the best internships, started earning money at a young age and still earning and taking care of myself. It will be very silly if I want to start from 'scratch' with someone when I know I can't cope in suffering/struggle. Don't tell me to 'believe' in him because not everyone has the grace to grow. I can't leave my chaffeur-driven life to jumping buses, because I won't COPE!. If you're lady who would rather continue living the life you've been accustomed to I advice you stick to your lane and go for what you want. Don't be guilt-tripped by those telling you to 'build' / 'grow' with a man, just go for what you want. If you want to start and are ready to cope with a broke guy there's nothing wrong with that either. Just pray for directions and breakthroughs and assist your man because if frustration sets in, you'll turn into that bitter-nagging wife... This is just my two cents. 1 Like |

I love posts as this and I wonder why some guys would pick a fight whenever they hear the word broke from a lady. Being broke is a reality. And even guys do not love themselves when they are broke so why expect someone else to. Broke here is relative though. But I have been reading posts from ladies on this forum and I think I can agree to their concept of brokeness. Like a lady stated sometimes back: a fiance that never afforded transport when she visits, flashes her and all that. And amarabae here stating of guys with income below 30,000naira. These scenarios are clear extent of being broke. So many people were once broke. As you are broke, use you time, your energy and your little resources to work hard and raise your financial status - this is the message these ladies are passing. The ladies are saying that guys should stop using their little income to impress them. Stop using your little income to feed broke girls. It would make you remain broke and expecting sympathy from them. Stop investing your time calling, texting and visiting broke girls, use the time to work hard and be successful. Girls don't need your meagre money, they want to see you developing yourself to be in charge of mega money. Lots of girls that date and marry rich guys donot depend of the guy's money but they just love the idea of having a guy that is financially comfortable. 4 Likes |

Re: DEAR BROKE GUYS! by ronald4lif(m): 9:51pm On Jul 25, 2017 |
I'll take such admonishing seriously when it is directed at both genders. The new wave of Nigerian girls labelling guys broke and/or 'teaching' them how to be hardworking to break the poverty jinx without doing likewise to the female folks is lopsided and further fuels the mentality that it's okay for women to be laid back and broke just like their leeching mentality in a relationship keep soaring. It's never okay for anyone to be broke, male and female alike. Both guys and girls have equal mental construct and almost same physical abilities to make money and at such no one should have a free pass to be broke while the other get scorned even as both of them face same economic situation in Naija. And as soon as any guy disagrees or offer a dissenting view they're seen as broke and visited with upbraiding which is just a poor attempt at blackmailing everyone to agree to their narrative 10 Likes 3 Shares |

Oduok: Mate, you're off the mark. Why are the purveyors of brokenness always ladies and why is it always directed at guys? It's being broke a male thing and is it okay for a woman to be broke? You see an average Nigerian girl with nothing going on for them, no cogent plan on self development and how to better their skint self finds delight in calling a guy broke? Then wake up daily praying for a well-to-do fella to ask her out or marry her so as to ameliorate her sorry ass calling guys broke? Does that make sense? 5 Likes |

Mstcheeeeew, this is stale and annoying already jawe. If a broke guy doesn't want to hustle to better himself, na hin wahala. If a girl wants to sell her puzeze to get the papers, na her headache too. Damn! How do you all get so deep into what you can't change, not like anyone can change it sef. thesuave10: Repeating same thing. No where did I say a guy shouldn't get rich, did I? The point is everyone should get rich and being broke is not gender based. She's right about a woman wanting a man who can provide her comfort and a better life from that of her family but wrong when the entire post is centralised on guys brokenness like it's typical of women to do. The OP is not alone, most ladies always have one or more advice for broke guys but the irony is that they're not different from those they're advising. One ought to first better their lives before teaching others on how to better theirs. Dockinta kwesili ibu-uzo kwuo onyeya tupu okwuo onye-ozo - a doctor ought to first treat themselves before they treat others. Rough translation. I'm sick and tired of hearing girls who have nothing going on for them nor any assets to their name, some without having earn a penny in their lives call guys broke. No, they don't have such right, they don't 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Benita27: I never knew it that this moniker knows nothing. A man can foot his own bills but not that of another woman and you say he is broke. If he spends 1k daily on consumables, he can reduce his budget to 800naira and start saving 200 naira to please her woman. Once the money accumulates, the edeeot spends all in a day shopping and would say the guy is not broke. Parasites... 2 Likes |
