Guys, pls I need some info. I plan to commence studies in the US by Spring 2018 but My passport expires February 2018 (meaning that presently, it is six months less than expiration date as required at embassy). Can I be allowed to renew my passport before expiration in February?

You can renew your passport 6 months in advance to expiration ... If its expiring in February then 6 months behind is August so Yes you can start working on it now

The 2nd number you were given is correct
Just be patient. You have to listen carefully to all the options. When you first dial the number, choose option 4. From there choose option 2. From there, choose 6. You will then hear a long message. Wait until the end of the message and you will present prompted to choose an option to tall to a service agent.

Buy lots of credit.

The second number is not going through only the first connected through; I tried the second number 0144066218 till the end of work hour which is 4pm all to no avail. What can I do? I have just tomorrow to clarify all these issues, do you have any other number or email address I could use to reach them? And again what would be the implication of all these if the issue is not rectified before wednesday, should I go to the consulate office with the two printed DS160 or stick with new one I just filled?

Who said you can no longer use Ghana-must go Bag? My close friend traveled with Qatar airways this January(Spring 2017) and he used Ghana must go as a second bag to pack all his food stuffs and there was no issues or query. so in line with your question Yes, you can use Ghana must go.. have a safe trip!

Even if it was not banned, it's not easy traveling with it. I bought Ghana must go bag at JFK and the remaining journey to my destination was not just funny. Since he is still in Nigeria, it's best he buys bags with wheels.

Wow. The number worked perfectly for me today.

I'll be frank with you, it will take a miracle for you to go for your interview on Wednesday. The embassy usually takes 3 business days to reflect any change on their end. I was also in your situation and I got turned back.

People of God please help!!!!
WES sent me a notice that they sent photocopies of my docs to my institution for verification in March but my school confirmed to me that they have not received anything from WES. The woman in charge at the registrars office even opened the email inbox and spam folder of address that they use to receive the docs from WES, we found nothing in my name. Disturbed about that info, I sent several emails to WES asking them to resend to my schoo(even stated the right email address), they confirmed to me yesterday that have sent the photocopies to my school again, but to my surprise my school confirmed to me this morning that they have not received anything yet again. Who has an idea of what is going on pls? I don't even know how to proceed from here. I paid for the course by course evaluation. Is it possible that WES did not send the photocopies of my docs through email? Someone help me pls

Hmm. This WES issue can raise one's blood pressure at times. It may take at least 2-3 weeks for the photocopies to reach your school for verification. You need to have a reliable contact at your school's exams and records office or registrar's office to follow up so they can confirm when it has arrived. WES doesn't send or receive verification via e-mails. They do hard copies and they may not use priority mailing service. I had similar experience.

If that is the case, can I reschedule my interview for another date, will this attract another 64k? Please someone should save my soul. I don't have another 64k to pay. Is it possible they rectify this issue tomorrow? In your own case, what really transpired, at what point were you turned back and which of the DS 160 did you take along?
I am really worried, someone should advice me on what to do

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by AusterHeights: 6:18pm On Aug 07, 2017
Thank you! The problem here is that the first doc was 'sent' in March(according to Wes), and I think even our own NIPOST would have delivered since then. I have arranged for them to send it by courier; hopefully they'll do what I paid them for in the end. They are the most useless agency out there. Really bad experience for me.

Hello Cosade

Thanks for taking your time to write me on here, well from my last post, I said I am not married. even when I was asked at the embassy, I told them NO. I'm still not married.
As for my In-law sponsoring me, He has a treasury bill account with a good sum which usually brings him good returns every year, September to be precise and this money in the treasury bill is his retirement money to say, hope it wont raise issues? and also I told the VO during my first intervies that I would be sponsoring my first trip and now changing it to my in-law to sponsor me, Is it not going to be an issue?

When you said in-law, I had assumed he's your father-in-law. Hmmnn brother-in-law? Definitely it would be an issue so you should be prepared to explain why he would want to fully shoulder your education outside Nigeria.

Awaiting receipt? What do you mean by that? Idealy you get your payment confirmation about 15mins after making payment through western Union. Your next step is to fill ds 160 online, pay visa fee at gtb then schedule your interview. Just to chip in, you will need to be ready to convince the VO why you applied to a community college and not a proper university. The rate of visa approval for community college is about 1/5. Who knows you might be the 1 out of every 5.

Just to re-emphasize what lagosismyhome bolded, you need to delete that statement with immediate alacrity. That school is not one of the best for MBA, saying that to the VO means you didnt do your homework. Secondly, MBA is a very competitive course, you need to attend a very good school to get a job with the way things are turning out, however people are different and destiny differs too. You might need to reevaluate and plan well.

You attended a prestigious University of Ibadan. Are you kidding me? Why did you use the word prestigious? University of Ibadan is not even among top universities in the world.

Second, your GRE score is low. Fourth, you did not explain accurately about your intended course of study abroad. Getting one admission of three didn't sound good to the VO's listening even with your academic results.

Sorry for your denial!

Visa approved earlier today, 07/08/2017. God is just too good. My admission to visa journey all in 3 weeks!

Me: Because I will be working with Dr Lionel Messi as research assistant on a funded project in the Department of Crop and Soil Science at Colorado State University. Colorado state also has an agric experimental station where they produce quality research output.(I was so tensed, I spoke so fast, VO said I should calm down and talk to her as a friend)
VO asked me the same question again and I answered in a similar fashion. VO said again that she is given me a last chance for the question. I calmed down well and answered her, tho I added that I had two Skype interviews with my supervisor and we have a good working relationship...
VO: tell about your MSc thesis
Me: I explained what I did and after a while she cut in
VO: where did u do your MSc?
Me: Federal University of Agric, Abk
VO: you did your undergrad in a diff school?
Me: yes/OAU
VO: who is sponsoring your studies
Me: I got a full assistantship.
VO: wow okay, have you traveled before?
Me: yes to Canada for a conference and...she cuts in and says, don't say too much than asked.
VO: how long did u spend in Canada

Vo: are your employers guaranteeing your job when you return
Me: Yes.
Vo: kept typing and all of a returns my i20 sevis and the famous white paper. She said I will receive a text on picking up my visa..bla bla bla.
Me: thank you very much..
I am so grateful to God. He broke multiple protocols for me.
I felt tensed because she denied a guy before me going to Boston Uni or so and the guy had a GRE score of 327. She asked him if he had ever traveled before and he said no. Visa approval is a battle oo. Scaling through admission is one battle, visa is another. I pray that God will help us.
Special thanks to Toakins, she is in Iowa State now and she did a mock for me before she flew. Thanks to the indefatigable team of men and women of this great and legendary thread. God bless you all. Amen
