Thanks for the information but it will be of great help if you state the full name of school you are referring to than abbreviating it, thanks.
This is funny, just by typing KAUST in google would have shown you KAUST means King Abdullah University of Science & Technology. You need to be proactive.

go to piratesbay and search GRE. There is a folder that contains Manhattan 5lb, ETS official guide (you can also get this from ETS site plus Powerprep2 and maths convention), Magoosh, NOVA, etc

Let me see what you get afterwards, then I can know if to share some with you....
Please can you send me these materials. haameenatadams@gmail.com

Consider Cleveland State Uni as one of the possible safe schools. I got this information from someone on-ground. They have funding for WE guys like you.

Please, take UPenn off that list so as not to waste your application fee.

You should look at NCSU. People got admitted and funded with same GRE but less GPA than you so you can give it a try.

Someone else recommended Colorado State and I agree. Look at Clemson as well and UT Dallas.

UPenn state it clearly on their website that they don't provide funding for masters but for PhD only. Which I will put in for PhD if UPenn make my final list.

Cleveland is cool, I'm inundated by the programs they offer. However, I would like to ask if its compulsory to read a professor's/potential advisor paper before contacting him because most of their papers are paid which is not free. What should I do

So I practically did not sleep cos of this issue. I checked schools and their requirements for my preferred program and realized it will be better I take GMAT and not GRE.. Not all schools accept GRE for my course so to avoid stories that touch, I'll just take d GMAT exam. Pls is there a related thread like this for GMAT? If yes, kindly share. I'm available should you know someone who needs a study partner for GMAT against December. Thanks, this thread has been really helpful. Kudos to you all

Don't. Apply. To. UPenn. Please.

No, it is not "compulsory" to read a potential advisor's paper but it definitely helps if you can. The reality is, if he takes interest in your initial/introductory mail he could send you a copy of his paper to read and tell him what you feel about it.

Few days after my GRE test, I took a GMAT-based aptitude test--which I aced-- and I must say, there just nuance differences between GMAT and GRE.

The Quant is almost similar. However, the verbal section is a bit different with the inclusion of critical reasoning, sentence correction and logical reasoning which I just have to familiarize myself with. The AWA is pretty much similar, albeit, you need to know how to write the GMAT, so here is a google drive, I hope it helps.

It actually depends on the deadline(s) of the school(s) you intend to apply to. Most of the schools have their deadlines fixed for Dec-Jan. Peruse the the schools' websites first.....

Good day all,
I'm new at the same time not new, had to take my time to go through all 271pages (phew!). I have some questions and would be glad if anyone could be of help.

First of all I noticed we have more of science students here especially engineers .haba
Please I'm looking for anyone in the social science field, most especially economics.

I'm a graduate of economics and I want to switch to agricultural economics , I want to know if agricultural economics is seen as a STEM course (I know it's a science course and not a social science course). And will like to know what re the funding opportunities in that field.

If anyone knows any other course with good funding that an economist can switch to with ease please kindly suggest here. (buh I'm still bent on agricultural economics).

Lastly, I'm looking for study partners in Uyo or calabar (Uyo is preferred, because that's where I am serving). Kindly pm me

Thanks. Apologies for my blunders and silly questions or requests.

#TeamFall2018.

Agricultural Economics is great, and only you know why you want to switch. It's a great field, and there are funding opportunities if you can do the work. Send a PM to Glowrie22, she got into a fully-funded MS Agric Econs program for this Fall.

All the best.

Dr. Time, please I have a related question. My supervisor published my work without my consent and got my name wrongly spelt in the paper. We have contacted the EIC of the journal, he claims nothing can be done. Even worse is the journal (Journal of Biomedicine) doesn't use initials, it uses authors' full names. I intend making reference to this paper; I put so much in it. What do you think can be done? How would you advise I go about citing it in my SOP and other concomitant documents?
It depends on how egregious the mistake in your name is. If it is just a few letters, then I wouldn't sweat it. Getting the supervisor to give you a letter of recommendation helps to prove you did the work. You can also discuss the research in your SOP and add a line about your name being misspelled if you are comfortable with that.

But if I were you, I would just discuss the project since I am the one that did it, without any mention of the mistake. If adcomms are in doubt about authorship, they can always contact you for clarification.

Your school choices are good, and mathematics is very well funded in the US. Someone mentioned Missouri (either Uni of Central Missouri or Uni of Missouri) as one school that funds most if not all of their Maths post grads.

Ideally, you should have a tentative list of 8 schools in your head before you write the GRE because your score would eventually affect the schools you can meaningfully expect to accept and fund you.

UIUC for example might get applicants from Asia that would score 165+ in the Qs and if you do not have that, your chances of getting in would be slim.

Instead of looking for handouts on which schools to apply to, get to researching via usnews.com, msinus.com, gradcafe.com and the likes. You could even type "Fully-funded MSc USA" in the Google searchbox. Get creative.

One thing is for sure: Mathematics is very well-funded in the US. The consensus posits that.

This is so spot on bro, meanwhike I had checked up the internet, only wanted to get varieties, as information is crucial and at times people over there can share their experience with me. God bless you so much bro. One more thing, do you think I will be limiting my chances also by not writing TOEFL (in addition to GRE) ?. THE A-graded schools really demand a score of 80-90 in it for GA/TA. Do you advise I step dwon to a B- school? Pls consider my moniker and pardon my incessant questions...tanks bro

Thank you.
@emboldened... The mistake is terrible. He submitted "Abim" instead of "Ab" as middle name. These are entirely different names. I have no idea how he came about the other name; he even argued it was what he saw in the soft copy I submitted. He kept at it until he looked it up and realised the mistake himself. I think getting him to write to own up to the mistake - as you've advised- is safer.
Thank you, again.

Some schools are strict about it: if you do not have the TOEFL they would not consider your application complete. Whilst some others are flexible and could let it slide for English-speaking countries like ours.

If you are adamant about not writing the TOEFL, then you must apply to schools that are flexible about it or else, they would not process your application. University of Utah and Houston are 2 of such schools that would not process your application without the TOEFL.

But if you have the resources, still take the TOEFL. It bolsters the application and it could earn you that TA/GA especially when only hairs split your profile from another applicant's.

No he does not. Walspring's offer would have been 37k but his offer apparently is 47k. Walspring's offer is a subsidy though.

PS: I am not endorsing him. Just stating the difference.

Morning guys. Pls can someone help me out with the meaning of this, I dont seem to understand what message that they are trying to pass across to me
"GRE score (General Test) – only a departmental requirement, so we do not list a minimum score requirement."

Is it that any score is acceptable in the GRE score or what?

Thanks to all the gurus in the house.
