We learn everyday. I believe Chibuking has learnt something new today. The market will keep throwing up surprises. Just understand what you are after and stick to it. Fidelity really did well this time around. What is Fidelity's P/E now @Stcool? and PEBV and kindly compare it with Diamond and FCMB. Some gold might just be lying unnoticed. Cc: Pluto all. |

Diamond is a great stock no doubt. My only fear is their loan provision. H2 loan provision is usually quite highly than H1 since 2015. If they get it right by q3, I will increase my holding. Mpeace: |

Calebbold: With the H1 results of the 3 banks, I will choose Fidelity over the other if they were to be selling at the same price. We should also note that Fidelity result is audited which makes it more reliable than the other two. And besides the efficiency ratios favor Fidelity.. Diamond is a bigger bank and should be doing better but they have been bogged down over the year by high impairment charges. I expect a spike in NPL across board going into H2 for all the banks hence I will advise that we all should take a cautious approach in buying bank shares going forward. 2 Likes |

Intendy: I can't understand why Mobil is tanking the way it is. Apr 2017 - The SP was 385 naira; barely six months later it is now at 165 naira. Yet, nothing major has happened to the company. The new owners, who bought 60% equity, don't seem to be doing too badly. or are they? The last result was not a great deviation from the industry average. It has always been a solid company with excellent corp. gov. My best guess is that the new management/ some big fish is trying to mop up stock and is doing the initial dump so reduce SP. The thing taya me. |

robobo: Brotherly sorry for the late response i see your concerns all well & clear, very scary pull back. see: https://invst.ly/4yw6i However , if we apply Fibs, its still within d parameters of a retracement Lets see how the next 4 weeks go. Also, have a look at d banking index (5 weeks ongoing pull back) Nice one .. 1 Like |

PharmAlfred: I will also pick fidelity ahead of diamond and fcmb based on their latest result. The stock market is unpredictable and always full of surprises. with my little experience in d market, have learnt that there should not be any allegiance to any company cos nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. years back, oando was N100 plus, but today is less than N10. likewise stocks like fo, Skye bank, fbnh etc. longterm investment is very good but the major problem in Nigeria is the unstable economy, policy changes, corruption and greed, corporate governance issues, lack of trust etc. |

Long term is long dead in this our market. Managers of businesses in Nigeria are not that patriotic again. They just want to kill the business now. kokobaba: |

http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/08/30/wigwe-banks-cannot-provide-for-power-sector-loans-because-its-systemically-important/ One has got to be afraid for the banking sector with statement like this. What was Wiwge saying, systemic important sector? Are banks not supposed to do their due diligence before granting loans to the power sector. If the loans has gone bad, provide for it. I wonder what view their auditors had concerning this matter. |
