My brother, this is a no brainer. Free the damn biyatch. She feels she is doing you a favor hence the threats. She would give you nothing but heartache. What's love got to do with it? Love is overrated and CAN BE BOUGHT (as in your case) or earned. I've experienced similar stuff before. I just pretended everything was going downhill, lost my job, given quit notice(even though I got somewhere else furnished and told my landlord I wasnt renewing the rent hence the quit notice). I suddenly didnt have money to give her, call sef na wahala,...well she bolted as expected and I had my peace.

Then, sit her down for a heart to heart talk. Tell her how much you love her. Tell her you don't appreciate that she is not totally sincere to you and that you would appreciate more sincerity financially.
Why stress over this issue when there are many other issues involved in a marriage?
Since you can afford it, set out a particular amount you give her monthly and except there's emergency, don't add to it.
If she threatens to leave instead of changing, please let her go. It will be a lot better for you. Love is not blind.
