You just brought out yourself Sir
19-21 talks about clean and uncleanliness
22-29 talks about tithe
"Tithes
22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name,d so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink,h or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice.i 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.
28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithesl of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotmentn or inheritanceo of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may blessr you in all the work of your hands."

There you have it.

My brother I dear not judge u on this... But would like to point ur attention to this...
Malachi 3:10b says 'Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple'.

Because we tend to judge the Ministers of God and their life of affluence we also take part in their sins by taking what is not ours out of where it rightly belongs...Two wrongs don't make the right!

I will still want to say this...'They that are led by the Spirit are Children of God'.
If what you did was by prompting of the Spirit...I stand not to condemn you!
But from all I read from u...you did that because you were planning to boycott Sunday service.

As for putting a smile on the beggar...God's blessings won't elude you, and just as she did pray for you. Treasures are been unleased and unearthed for u. But you do need to put yourself aright.

Give to Caesar what is due to Caesar and forget not to give to God what is truly HIS.

But do you agree that you are to eat your tithe in the house of God. I just read the verse you quoted

When you sit down to listen to the sermon, eating of His Word and drinking of His Spirit and your spirit is filled with the Word of God and your soul is satisfied, what is this abeg. Your physical substance had made it possible through your obedience to God in tithing. And you know what, many others you do not know personally will have come to Christ because of that obedience.

It was a very stressful week for me as it involved lots of travels and all. So its a Saturday and I was paid for a project I did for the month past.

Going by my tired nature, I knew deep down me that there was no way I could have made it to church the next day and I was hell bent on paying my tithe because of the inherent blessings therein and the last thing on my mind would be to give it to my nebor to pay it for me. (The guy broke and besides I didn't want him to start calculating my take-home (Na sharp man). And I knew deep down that if I keep the money till the next time I would be in church, I was sure I would spend it. (God have mercy on me sha)

So I decided even before getting home to package my tithe and while in the market on a shopping spree I package my tithe and dropped it in the plate of an old beggar. (A mulsim beggar precisely)

Instantly, I saw 50 shades of shocks on her face as she looked at me for a few seconds and I could read her facials more like "For this Buharia?" Lols. And before I disappeared into the crowd, I could see/read her lips mutter prayers pointing towards me. And deep down, I felt blessed and fulfilled.

But was I wrong to have given my 10percent to a beggar instead of to the alter?

Opinions please.

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PAYING TITHE. IT'S PART OF THE OLD TESTAMENT CEREMONIAL LAW COMPULSORY FOR THE JEWS. THOSE DOING SO PUT THEMSELVES IN BONDAGE AND RISKS THE CURSE ASSOCIATED WITH NOT OBEYING THE OTHER ASPECTS OF THE LAW.

To better understand Malachi 3:10, you need an understanding of Deuteronomy 14:22-29. STOREHOUSE in Malachi is a broad term that covers your immediate family, the widows, orphans, poor, brethren, and FINALLY, the priests.

The purpose of tithe is "So that there may be FOOD in my house". Food here is literal not connotative.
Ha!...do that the pastor will explain why food is not literal.... but money is!...after all.... only the spiritual minded would be able to understand such spiritual stuff.

Giving, sowing a seed and tithing are three different things.

You just gave to the poor bro...which God will reward u greatly, but you've not paid your tithe.

Even paying ur tithe in another church and to another priest is also wrong....it should be paid to your priest cus he's the one that God uses to bless you through his word.

Deuteronomy 14:22-29New International Version (NIV) 22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Are you talking about this tithe or the tithe your pastor demand should be paid to them which as nothing to do with the scripture ?

While tithe is to Yahweh, isn't it MEN that still SPEND it? Does Yahweh spend money?

Of course He spends money. We spend it on His behalf. I think what you try to say is if God has personal needs for which money is required. That answer is no. He is a Spirit and dwells in heaven. There are no needs there.

To be frank with you bro, you are still owing God your tithe. What you have just done is give help to the poor.

Like someone mentioned God specifically stated where the tithe should be brought to and the reason why

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
Malachi 3:10

Also mind you, there's a reward for giving to the poor which is different from that when you pay your tithe.

You should go pay your tithe bro

It explains what tithing is about..... pastors will never go into such details. She should set up a confrontation between DF and a GO/Bishop/Pastor....I can bet my life they would find a reason to turn down such a face off.

bible says bring all the tithe into my store house(the church) that there may be meat in my house...also the bible did say we should give to the needy...the needy can be anywhr not necessarily the house of God.so for tithe paying, the bible was specific where to give it.giving also to the needy is also his commandment..buh i fink yu givng to the needy isnt paying ur tithe...thats just u giving to the poor.the tithe shud b payed in church as an offering....many may not agree with this buh its my understandn

Wrong.

It is written clearly, Bring your tithe into my store house, so that it may be food in my house. No begger is Gods storehouse.
Obey instruction if you want to pay your tithe.

Giving is good but a paracetamol cannot do the work of an aspirin. You will get the reward for giving and not tithing.

Give, and it will give given unto you. That will be your reward
And will cast out the devourer and the canker-worm will not eat your crops, You missed that bro.

You will probably be given for giving but the canker-worms will eat it.
. Na so, well done god. Let me see your canker worm come eat my crops.

You have done the most noble thing a Christian can do. Don't listen to any son of Belial who tells you otherwise.

Proverbs 19:17

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Proverbs 28:27

Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.

Take it from one who knows God in a way no ordinary can.

you did both good and bad.

You see, God designated your tithe to go to His house of worship so 'food and all thing will be plentiful there.'

if you keep giving your tithe direct to the beggers who you don't even why they are there when people with desperate problem run to God's house for shelter and food what will they eat?

WHAT WILL THE MEN WHO DEDICATE THIER LIVES TO FACE YOUR PROBLEM IN GOD'S NAME EAT WITH THEIR FAMILY?

Its so unfortunate that fake prophets abound to cause ridicule to God's name,e and work and so many will tell u you did good.

You did do evil bro, u just did it wrong.

Next time, save your tithe, look for a small church with a leaking roof and a pastor does good mindlessly for people in God's. Give your money him, shake his hand and walk away. Even if that prophet did not pray for God will not forget whose money fixed that roof!

Give to beggers from from your own pocket not your title.

It baffles me to c learned people ( even prof, elders) and youth with no proper functioning brain. As far as I am not comfortable with the method of paying(I.e to the church), are the tithe monitored to know if they serve d purpose they are meant for after paying.
No, what you hear is leave that to God to judge but you can spew trash from your mouth to judge someone who decided to put a smile on a poor. If we all do like OP, I bet you..Nigeria will compete with Saudi Arabia where people hardly steal.

Just imagine we every Nigerian pays his tithe to someone in need , the less privileged and beggars. The country will be a better place. If the offerings and free will donations are not enough for the churches then they should close up. A church has a private jet but the members are not sure of the next meal. What are we preaching then?

No sir. That is simplistic thinking. If all the substance of the world were shared evenly within a short while it will become exactly the way it is today because we donot have the same heads and hearts. Sin is the primary reason why there is lack on one hand and greed on the other. Money cannot overcome sin or buy righteousness. That is why even Jesus said, the poor will always be amongst you.

So while it is good to care for physical needs, the spiritual roots have to be addressed by the preaching of the good news. That is why substance in God's house is critical and compulsory.

I'm not saying you need a priest before God can bless you..

You still remember what God said about giving to a priest??

It attracts it's own blessing.

If you are a Christian you will know this ....

Christ never gave to any priest rather he feed the poor.

And brotherly you are equating giving to a man of God to receiving God Blessing.

If you really know the teaching of Christ you will know it’s more honorable to give to the poor and needy before any other person.

Jesus says on that day a lot will
Say but I was serving you and Jesus will answer I know you not....

Is there anywhere Jesus said you should give your money to your priest.
