Seeing my ielts results for SLRW @ 8 7.5 7 8 breaks my heart after trying 3 times. It feels very annoying and discouraging to say the least.
i feel like quitting after series of studies and practice. i wish i had MSc.

Hello 5Kay,

So sorry about your score. embarassed It is very normal for you to be sad, dejected, discouraged, demoralized and angry. The reason is because it is not just about the money (N68K*3) but the emotional stress involved with writing the test over and over again also.

However, you've done the same thing three times and you got the same result, then I think that, it is time for you to change your strategy. You need to analyse the part where you are weak. What are your previous scores? Is it just the listening module that you are having issue with? If yes, then you need to improve your listening skill. Your reading score is low too because scoring a "7" in reading means that you need to improve your reading skill too. Fortunately, the listening and reading skills are very easy to be improved upon unlike the writing and speaking skills. How can you do that?

First, which part of the listening module is always giving you problem? Is it the Map Labelling questions or Multiple Choice questions? Download YouTube practice questions focusing solely on that particular part. Check google for tips on how to ace that particular part. There are various good sites such as ieltsliz.com, ieltsbuddy.com, ielts-up.com and ieltsadvantage.com. You can read some of the tips that @Cochtrane and @Osemigho shared in the first part of this thread. I shared some listening tips in this post and reading tips here too.

Second, do not rush to register for another test. You need to be very sure that you've improved your listening and reading skills before registering for a new test. What is your projected CRS score?

Third, do you think that you are alone in this? NO. Even though, there are people who made it at the first attempt, there are still so many people who wrote the test three or more times before getting their desired score. And guess what? Some of these people are in Canada already, while others are cooling down with their ITA. If they had quit, do you think they will have their COPR or ITA? You can read some of their posts (@Bigfido and @Jesuba) to draw strength from them.

From the above, you can see that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Are these people failures? NO. In fact, they are the real definition of SUCCESS. You have to keep moving forward, even when it feels like it would be easier to just lay down and give up.

I wish you the best! smiley

Ok bro my two cents is that IELTS is not knowledge based. So nothing too technical and no need for logic.

Strategy for reading is copy and paste when asked to ,paraphrase and predict answers, and never try to read and understand the passage

Strategy for listening is to practice till you have high scores. I recommend simulating exam conditions by printing your practise sheet and using Bluetooth headphones (if you can). Practise as if you were in the exam hall. I have found laptops to be distracting and that's purely a personal experience.

Everything is spot on except the headphone part. I had the same expectation too that headphones would be provided but alas...

Na so one girl just dey cough anyhow during the listening section. It's like na she village people wan use catch me but fortunately I got my desired score.

My point is: Practice as much as you can in quiet places (without headphones if possible) and expect the unexpected.

Happy weekend.
Please I want to ask a question.
I have National Diploma and Bsc.
Is there any point sending the 2 certificate to WES for evaluation or I should just send the BSc only?
Thanks in anticipation of your prompt response.

I went to Uniport and evaluated my BSC with WES last year. There were no issues.

You can use your NYSC experience if it falls under skill level A, B or O. Check your skill level here. As the Principal Applicant, you will need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for education received outside of Canada (except your master's degree is from a Canadian University). Evaluate your highest degree only which is your master's degree.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp

Does it mean If I evaluate my B.SC only and I have a national diploma too, they would still give me points for the diploma if I selected that I have a B.SC and a second 2year qualification?

I want to be sure I don't need to do both to take in score for both. Also, does my wife need to do Ielts and wes to boost my crs?

Hello everyone,

Please i have two questions.

1. I GOT MY U.K POLICE CERTIFICATE IN FEBRUARY AHEAD OF I.T.A WHICH I EVENTUALLY GOT IN THE LAST DRAW. BUT WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR MY ITA. I VISITED THE U.K FOR 5 DAYS LAST MONTH . DO I NEED TO GET A NEW POLICE CERT, CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT IT WAS JUST A SHORT VISIT.

2. HOW DO I REDUCE FILE SIZE OF PDF DOCUMENTS. MY PASSPORT TRAVEL PAGES MAKE UP 8MB AND WE R ONLY ALLOWED TO UPLOAD 4MB. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY APP OR METHOD THAT CAN ASSIST WITH REDUCING THE SIZE.

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. THANKING YOU ALL IN ADVANCE.

Hey guys, I wish i had read through this thread before I wrote IELTS but all hope is not lost. Got 7.5 in all parts and it's my first attempt. I am not enthusiastic about re-writing d exam so I am thinking of d job offer option. Has anyone tried this and can advise appropriately? I.e getting a job in Canada from Nigeria since dis gives about 50 points.

1. Evaluate both the BSc and National Diploma certificates to get points for "two or more certificates".

2. If your CRS score is low, your wife will need to evaluate her certificate and take the IELTS test to boost your CRS score.

According to what is written on CIC's website, to get points for "two or more certificates", one of the certificates should be a three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree PLUS any of the results in the sections below. The "sections below" refers to :

1. Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute or
2. Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute or
3. One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute

OR

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate e.t.c

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp

The National Diploma will be evaluated as "2 years Diploma" so I believe he will get points for "Two or more certificates".

Thank you for the update. The writing and speaking modules of the IELTS are indeed both subjectively graded. An upgrade from 7.5 to 8.5 in the writing module and an upgrade of 8 to 8.5 in the speaking module is great. I wish you good success in your final attempt.

@GlitteringStar thanks for this. That means a Unilag diploma and a Unilag B.Sc will count as two or more certificates. Am actually waiting for @Cutegu201 who is verifying these two certs with WES. Let’s wait for his evaluation result.

Dont quit just take a step back and find out where you are not getting it right in listening and fix it and at the same time try to maintain status quo on the scores of the others SRW.

My first attempt was LRWS 7,7,7.5,7.5 because of one mark just one mark(l learnt from analysis that that one mark no small at all).l rewrote and got LRWS 8,7.5,7,7.5.

Where l missed it in the first one was that l did not practise listening with questions that had diagrams(the ones l had did not have diagram questions and when l later started seeing the questions with diagrams before my second attempt l was furious with myself) when l saw it in the exam l was seriously rattled and l could not get myself and compose myself in the nick of time.

What helped me was l knew where l had goofed so l was determined to get it right the second.Though l was angry because l could have gotten it right the first time and that money....hmm l for use am do something else

Exactly! The monies that's been expended on these registrations would have given me more joy if i had given them to my parents.
I am being advised to ask for remark and or register again. If i do the former and results comes back the same ill be more soaked in fury so im thinking the latter is better.

Thank you my people. I am relieved upon reading all your kind and encouraging words...I PRAY i get it right next time.
To think that i even finished my reading with almost 15mins left amazes me to see the results this low.
the listening i had expected to be low was great as i had seen question types that i thought i had weakness for.

God bless you richly for this post and many others you've put out here. You're truly a Star, may you continue to Glitter.

Sadly, like Elfmann recently said, many of those that are supposed to benefit will just not read. Someone will still come 2/3 pages from now and ask this same question you've done much to compile evidence for.

Good we have evidence of four cases in one post.
