Bros o, I encourage ur giving to the needy, is commendable but everyone stops giving to the "CHURCH" how ll the church grow and do things? Is money dy use to buy fuel for services, they print traits for evangelism and other expenses abi u think say money ll fall from heaven
We just got to change dis mentality, it aren't right. Paying tithe or giving to the chur h doesn't stop u from giving to the need and it's vice verca. Here is what 1john 4:20 says 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

You are going to church tithe in hand and you encountered a wounded man desperately in need of medical care. You managed to take him to hospital (want to assume you are compassionate) but you need to deposit money for blood immediately. Your tithe is the only spare money you have left.

Let's even assume this is a distance relation of family.
Will you take out of your tithe cash to save that life or proceed to give the tithe in church??

What do you think God will be pleased with: obeying law of tithing religiously or helping save a man?

I remembered being consistently paying N1,800 tithe from my N18,000 teachers' salary as a teacher in a sec school. My blessing was unexplainable, as i got another teaching Job of N65,000 after a yr. Ofcourse, i was encouraged not to stop and now, I am a living testimony. I have moved forward into another level. More importantly, u must have a good relationship with God and be ready to pray a firefull and aggressive prayer; prayer of enough is enough. Also make sure ur pastor is called by God, so u won't sow on barren land

Most people pay tithes because they expect God to do something for them.
The moment you give because you want to be rewarded, you giving becomes worthless. It's lending out money to receive interest.
99% of tithers pay tithes because they want a favour from God. The implication is that you are bribing God to do what he does for others without even their prayers. If God should bless us based on our tithes, how much do you think you will have to pay everyday for his blessings?
God is too good and many pastors indirectly profane his name by scaring people to give if not they will be punished or miss their blessings from the same God that has been with them even before they knew what tithe is.
There are other ways of giving. Help that woman around you, help your room mate who doesn't have food, help the orphan who can't go to school for lack of money, don't be selfish when dealing with people around you. Do good and avoid evil. Most Christians don't even like to use their God given sense of reason to understand the things of God. They keep waiting for others to reason for them and feed them with their selfish reasons.
May God help us to understand what He require of us so that we don't fall victim to monsters who pose as God's representatives. Amen

The biblical instructions aren't what you throw into a debate please...my 2 cent though. It's mandated by God himself. You're not being forced to do that, and don't try to dissuade others from doing it. By doing that, you commit more sin... Consider Malachi 3:6-......... You will get the basis.
For me, I think my worry is what the pastors do with tithe money? There again in the bible it was specified what to do with the tithe money and if they do the wrong thing, judgment awaits them.
Finally, before you throw anything up for a debate, find out what your worries are; if it's about doctrine, dogma or pure Biblical instructions thanks.

I noticed that 3 in 5 persons, are against tithing or giving in church and 1 out of this 3 persons that're in favour don't give.

However, tithing and giving is one very important aspect of christianity. I pay my tithes, (not faithfully)give my first fruit, etc and i must say,God has been faithful in his own way towards me financially, health wise and otherwise.

A very good instance, was a day i entered a church and decided to empty all my financial substance to God, I mean my last kobo without the hope of what to eat the next day and miraculously the next day God provided, raw beans and some mighty onions,so that day was fixed up till now. This is just a little of my giving story.

Bro tithing, offering, giving works. They are spiritual transactions, there had been no time I so in the kingdom that I don't reap. But with different time intervals. Not for the return though, it's out of love. I don't have the liver to watch the house of God lacking any important instruments or something when I can do something.

Just remembered 2015, when the spirit ministered to me to paint a winners chapel church. Guess I spent about #18,000 then, he promised to paint my life immediately I dropped the paint at the church. Two weeks later. A close relative just saw me and said, " you will need money for your business and I said yes. He gave me 5m.. Just one outta diverse encounters of testimonies.

Started tithing from #20 from #200 daily feeding allowance then. Monthly tithing now is in 6 digits.

Gen 14:18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out
bread and wine; he was the priest of God
Most High.
:19 And he blessed him and said:
"Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth;
:20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has

In the bible Abraham, Isaac, Adam, etc did not pay tithe, they only give offering. Tithe was a command God gave to the other tribes of Israel to support the children of Levi. The discendants of Levi were poor, God instructed other tribes of Israel to bring one tenth of their proceeds to the temple to be used for the feeding of the Levites.

The issue of the verse in Malachi talking of robbing God in tithe, was the priest of the temples not giving the children of Levi the complete proceeds of tithe.

Offering is what is important to God. Give your offering to him in good heart and he will bless you. You can give your tithe to the poor and less privilege because they are the Levites among us.

Cheers.

Malachi chapter 3 verse 6 downwards is refering to the children of the tribes of Israel and not you and I. Read the chapter very well. Pastors always refer to this chapter especially verse 8 & 9. It is not only Malachi that talks shout tithe. Check levictcus, that is where offering, tithe, donations etc was talked about very well.

Jesus Christ said I will build my church and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it. Tithe and offering are part of the money used to finance the church. I read many comments and I am disappointed at some people. The house of the Lord must be built whether some people decide not to give or not. If you don't like the idea of giving to a church, it is better you remain silent and don't begin to condemn.
As for me I count myself privileged to be able to give tithe and offering. Years ago I wasn't privileged then I asked God to bless me and He did. How could I be ungrateful not to give back to His work.
I also know the power of tithing. I know what God has done for me. I proved Him to see how He would be faithful to His words concerning tithing, He never fails.

Genesis 14:18-20 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer, Abram was met by Melchizedek king of Salem and a Canaanite priest of God Most High, refreshing them with bread and wine and he blessed Abram. The blessing was given to Abram, a very important fact to remember. In response, Abram gave ONE-TENTH (10%) of all the goods of Sodom that were stolen by Chedorlaomer to Melchizedek. Abram did NOT tithe from his own possessions, an essential fact to refute tithing practices in the new covenant.

Genesis 14:21-24 The king of Sodom offered to give Abram all the goods of Sodom that were recovered for himself, but Abram refused, taking not one single item, to give honor to Yahweh, lest people say this pagan king of Sodom made him rich. This is a very important point, because Abram took NO INCOME and the tithe he gave to Melchizedek did not come from his goods, but those of the Sodomites and 1/10 of Lot’s recovered goods.

The problem with your assertion is that you may tie your blessings to tithes and offerings even when it could be a mere coincidence. If those who do not give tithes and offerings are equally blessed, it means that there are other factors at work.

You may want to apply yourself better to reap the full benefits of the talents God bestowed on you. I have never paid tithe in my life. I hope God will judge me by my good works and not money handed over to another being under the guise of bribing God for blessings. Tithe is tattooed into the brains of Nigeria because of the prevalent culture of bribery and corruption. Because one has to offer bribe to get things done in Nigeria, they apply the same principle to God.

In the Law, which God gave to Moses, certain statutes required a tithe from every person that belonged to the tribes of Israel (Jacob). They were to set aside a tenth of their crops, herds, and fruit, and then bring their tithe to the Levites; this is how God made provision for the Levites, the lone tribe that comprised the priesthood. The reason God made provision for the Levites is that they were not allotted a land inheritance as their counterpart Israelite brethren were given. So to compensate them (the Levites) for fulfilling their priestly duty, God made provision in the Law in this manner. However, you MUST understand and factor into your consideration is that the Levites, who were the priests, were also commanded by God (in the Law) to pay their own 10% as a tithe.

There was also measurable difference between the quality of the tithe that God required the Levites to give versus the quality of the tithe that God required the average Israelite to pay. The average Israelite was allowed by God in the statutes of the Law, to give any one of ten apples harvested, or any one of ten bushels of wheat, or any one of ten cattle, sheep, or goats raised, etc. The tithe required of the Levites by God in the statutes of the law required a much better quality 10%. In fact, the tithe required of the Levites judged according to the top 10%. This meant Levites had to tithe the very best of the best 10% of whatever they had received from the people of Israel. If you read Hebrews 7:4, you’ll find Abraham gave Melchizedek the “choicest goods” as tithe.

Talking of tithe. Are you a discendant of the tribes of Israel? You are a Nigerian.

Tithe paying is simple obedience. Christians pay tithe to obey His command in Malachi that they should be provision in His house. In return, God promised to open the windows of heaven and pour out a great blessing.
Anyone paying tithe should of course expect God's blessing, because He promised to bless thithers, but the main motive of paying tithe to a church is obedience. Non tithers are disobeying God.
That is why they call it "payment". You are not giving God, when you pay your tithe, you are like paying your tax to God's house to advance the gospel.
