Lol! She sounded so desperate. shocked
She gave out a lot of unnecessary information that would make even the nicest VO think twice.

Thanks. I just got the rest of your post after the edit. Everything she said is true, but I guess these things happen.

You are still asking? Take a look at the transcript. From the question; why are you going to the United States till the end.
I responded to your post before you modified it, sir/madam

Oh sorry about it.....i guess this is the second time? I stand to be corrected o!

Everyone who is aware of how the US immigration works knows her chances of getting a visa is very slim.....

we all see her as a potential immigrant with no substantial ties to come back....for you to get married to a citizen while you are studying she can also do same while visiting.....

My advice for now... Let her get a life, settle down for marriage with KIDS, travel to other part of the world. Then check back at the door of US Embassy as a family....

1x24:
She didn’t get the visa.

I don’t have a full transcript cos she’s rather upset but it went something like:

***********************
VO: Why are you travelling to the US?
Her: I have been invited by my brother and his wife to their traditional wedding and the blessing of their union. This is taking place at *****, close to the home of the bride in line with tradition. My brother is doing his PhD in ***** at the university of *****, hence the contact address on the application. They legally got married on September *, 2017. I am on the bridal train and she has written me a letter of invitation together with the invitation card for the wedding.
VO: What do you do for a living?
Her: I am an investment analyst working for *****.
VO: Have you ever traveled outside Nigeria?
Her: No I haven’t
VO: How long have you worked for *****?
Her: Since Feb 2015, and I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience from the transactions I’ve worked on.
VO: Are you married?
Her: No I’m single, but I have a brother and his own wife and children, and a father, in Nigeria...
VO: (interrupts) Do you have any family in the US?
Her: My brother is my only direct relative in the US, but since he is now legally married to *****, she too is my relative.
VO: (types away at the computer for a long while)
VO: I’m sorry you do not qualify for this application in line with US immigration laws.
***********

This is very disappointing. I’m really gutted about how so many people have tricked and cheated the system over the years, and continue to do so, that now genuine and honest people keep getting falsely flagged.

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by Nobody: 11:57am On Oct 31, 2017
@OtunOba15: Thank you. Yes it’s the second visit visa denied, despite how important it is this time. First was early last year.

As for me getting married, I actually got a lawyer and talked to US immigrations about this. It is perfectly fine to get married while you’re in school for as long as 5 to 6 years. That’s a long time! There is even a legal system called “Adjustment of Status” which you’re offered, if you want to become a permanent resident.

Thanks for your advice. We will work on getting my wife to Nigeria instead.

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by Nobody: 12:08pm On Oct 31, 2017
Baker's training in US? Are you kidding me? You can learn that in Nigeria.

Your previous denial won't provided that your circumstances has changed.

She sounds desperate? Which one of her responses makes you feel this way?

I have been a silence reader here, and I have been gaining alot of experience, pending the time, I would also want to visit US legally.

First I would say I am sorry for your sisters denial.

My advice, I guess it would be better if you can help your sister run a masters in the US, since she's a first class graduate.

I guess that would be better, and at least she would be more closer to you and your new wife.

Thank you for your kind words. She has actually considered going for postgrad studies, but for now she has been more focused on building her career and developing skills in her field, before maybe thinking about a masters in future.

Besides, now that she has gotten two visit visa rejections - I feel it would seem desperate for her to apply for a student visa now, no matter how genuine she really is about her education.

Pretty sorry about the outcome. She should sit back, relax, pick herself up and get better on her career building and TRAVEL EXPERIENCE particularly. No much biggy! But even her academic qualification/grade should have counted for something too na....

Also from the transcript, if that is how she delivered it sha, it comes across as an OVER-PROGRAMMED applicant speaking. Interviews really can be creative, made interactive by applicants with good gusto and body language saying something important on their own. Regards

Why are you giving yourself unnecessary publicity?

Mind you the VO's are also seeing your post and waiting for you tomorrow. Go and defend your 64k as the spirit leads.

Finally take 4 bottles of beer early in the morning. You will surely get your confidence.

This makes a lot of sense. Body language and confidence may make them feel more certain that you have nothing to hide.

I remember my own interview. I didn’t know anything about what to expect, or anything cos i had never applied for a visa.

The woman asked me where I’m going, I responded that I’m going for a PhD at so and so university. She said that’s a very good school, and I said Yes, I’m fortunate to have received full funding. Then she asked why I was so interested in what I wanted to do for my PhD and I started to explain. She smiled and said I just taught her some things, I smiled back and said thank you. She asked if I have ever left Nigeria, and I said No, I’ve never even tried. And she said congrats your visa has been approved. Just like that, it took a couple of minutes. No questions about anything else. All the documents I brought were for nothing.

Thanks again.

She can use Visa on Arrival. Check the Nigerian Immigration website. You can apply for her via email.

What went wrong? My husband went on that trip alone, spent 12days as planned and came back. I applied again with my sons n our interview is next week, what are our chances? Myself n 2kids ll be Travelling with hubby for just 10days.

Note, my husband was recently promoted at work, so his income increased by over 100k (before on his ds his income was 214k, now 341k). How do i state his new income, i don't want them to think I'm lying cos of d diff with d one on his ds form as at d time he applied, though i have his promotion letter documents. I'm a business woman but i left d income part blank on my ds, hope dts not a problem since my husband is our sponsor and he's going with us. Urgent ans needed. Thanks.

Thanks! I already found this. But maybe the information is outdated, cos nobody ever replied to any of the emails. Or else maybe it’s a different case cos we’re both outside Naija? I’m not sure but we will keep trying.

Hello Good people. I'm one of the silent readers and observers. First I would like to thank you guys so much for your immense contribution to this forum Especially LadyG,  Omobendel, Seyewest etc. This is my second attempt having applied once previously in 2013 and was refused. I Read
my profile,I'm 34 yrs, female,  engaged. Have two businesses and earn 600k plus per month. Although she didn't ask me how I much I earned neither did she mention anything about my dubai trip.

I guess this time,I was more confident and composed and my circumstances has improved compared to 4yrs ago. And one more thing, the column that asked us to explain why we were refused a  US visa. I stated the reasons (insufficient ties) but I also use the column to write that I believe my circumstances has improved ,I've a well settled biz and my whole family is here. Nothing too long, just a simple jara

Thank you guys once again and I wish all subsequent applicants best of luck

Congrats.... Honestly when I was issued my own visa... I didn't hear the rest of what the V.O was saying... grin grin grin

Google Nigeria embassy atlanta look up the website and go from there. You will need to pay the visa fee to a 3rd party then call them..they should tell you what to do next... I will look into it later today.

From the experiences I've gathered so far from nairaland transcript and immehelp....I can say categorically that she was not answering questions to the point. She was trying to impressed the V.O hence letting out unrequired informations. I see nervousness on the high side here which V.O may consider as desperation.

I wish her better luck next time.

you cant change any inform on the DS160 form once its submitted. Since you are yet to book appoint, fill another form and contact support to update the new DS160 ID then you can book your date. I always advise people to pick interview date before submitting their DS160 forms so they can be sure all is in order.

All the best!

Thanks alot for this information.
What do you mean by contact support?? Via which means. Assist pls.
Can't I update it myself on my profile with my new confirmation ID??
