This is a new one. Could you shed more light on this please?

I dont know how true this is, but i met two ladies at the embassy, I went to meet them when i saw the light yellow copy they were holding on the queue , i asked them if they did dropbox and was called for interview they said yes.

Both of them denied.

One was told 4500dollars was too small to give birth in America , she came with all her receipts.

The other paid 3500dollars she was also denied no reason given .

They both checked their receipts.

They were interviewed before me, we all met outside after the interview and exchange numbers.

Congrats on the twins...but as regards ur travelling with twins..it's almost humanly impossible for u alone to cope with them while flying. You need an adult to help.
Either u have someone go with u or join u there. If not how will u cope taking care of urself and 2 Babies!!

And if you're having a CS that's a different case entirely. Pls plan well o. It won't be good for u to come and suffer in the US o.

As per flying.. some people just risk it and beg any approachable looking Lady and beg to help with one baby which is kinda somehow, or you'll just have to buy a child's ticket for one of the babies so u can put one of them in a car seat on the child's seat u paid for, while u carry the other baby, or if ure lucky, u could get a bassinet on the flight.

One advice is that u shouldn't break ur flights oo..I Mean fly straight, don't do international leg separate from local.. imagine if u have to collect ur luggage at one airport and check in again with 2 babies!!..na die be that oo.

Think about ur options and weight them well and I wish u all the best.

Cheers.

please what airline would allow you buy the other a seat?

You are asking people to do their own research and complaining about people that are flooding cheap hospitals mentioned here but at the same time you are mentioning cheap ones you saw online.

I said this in part or two that people should do their own research and stop recycling one hospital else they will increase their prices.

Many people reading this thread are agents looking out for such info to give to their clients for a huge fees.

oh ok Noted.

was wondering what happened to my post.

i get your point. so true about hosp increasing price due to demand and free info for the agents that would charge a leg and an arm for this free info

regards

please anyone know an airline that would allow twins with just ONE adult?

i.e pay for extra seat for both babies or one of the babies?

I'm sorry but no airline would let you carry on 2 infants with one adult. It's an aviation rule so applies to all carriers. So you'll have to attach the second infant to another adults ticket as an infant in arms. Or pay for an infant seat. Either way in arms or on a seat each infant needs an adult.

Hello ma/sir, based on experience, please get another adult to assist in helping out. Taking care of one infant on international flight is work, not to talk of two. If possible, get your spouse or mother to accompany the mother and babies.

A child under 6 months must be on your lap with a loop seat belt during takeoff, landing & turbulence. So with twins under 6 months you must have another accompanying adult, or some airlines will offer a (paid) escort service.
Over 6 months your options open up a little. You can;
purchase a child seat and bring an airline approved car seat for the second child (most airlines will not provide this though); or
You could have two in car seats and be completely hands-free if you want to spring for the cost, or if you know both children sleep better this way.

Good day people.

I wanted to share my experience has I have gained a lot reading from what other people share on here. This is the second baby I've had in the US. The first was in Virginia, while I stayed in with family in Maryland. Virginia is significantly cheaper depending on your choice but distance was a major challenge for me. This time we decided to do Houston because it was going to be more cost effectve.

I traveled with Turkish airline on May 27th to JFK and spent time with my friends before heading out to Houston. Point of entry was surprisingly easy, I did self check in, printed out a receipt and only thing I was asked was the kind of food I had on me. No questions asked my purpose of visit or my big tummy (I was huge). I was really grateful for that.

I had gone very far with planning for Houston before I noticed in the document one of the doctors sent me that they do not allow VBAC (virginal birth after CS). I found out later that this was a Texas thing, most hospitals will not allow a woman that has had a previous CS try to get birth vaginally. This is my 3rd, I had a VBAC with my second, so I didn't see any reason to have a planned C-Section. We searched for Drs would do VBAC and we found one who uses Ben Taub. The cost estimates was significantly higher than using Oak bend or any of the other cost effective hospitals/doctors. The Dr's fees alone was about $5400 for normal delivery, so I contacted a midwife/birthing center as back up.

I visited both the midwife and the Drs at Ben Taub (they are 5 minutes apart in distance) but we eventually settled for the birthing center because my chances of having a natural delivery and staying within my budget was better. We had Ben Taub as backup in case going to the hospital became necessary.

My baby came on the 12th of July at the birthing center, it was easy and the best birthing experience of my three births. Baby came 2 weeks late and was happy to not have been under any pressure to be induced. Antenatal visits was easy and schedules flexible, service was very personal, midwife came home to check on us after the birth, they had free group prenatal classes and breastfeeding support meetings.

I know people on here have made a valid point of the risk of using birthing centers but for VBAC mums like me, who really want do things naturally and are low risk, its definitely an option. Also a cheaper option if you are low risk.

I got the birth certificate in less than a week, I've got the passport and also got approval for the Nigerian visa on arrival in less than 24 hours. I sent an e-mail with all necessary documents to the immigrations email address (oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng) and was very impressed to hear back from them same day.

Hi @olukemiyemi pls when you had your 1st baby @Virginia, how long did it take to get birth cert, SSN and U.S passport.
I'm currently in Virginia, awaiting baby's arrival. Did a little research and found out expedited birth cert and passport here takes 2-3 weeks min for each. ie 4-6wks after delivery! Any advice?
All Virginia mums pls help! I only planned 3wks stay after delivery

Hello House. I just stopped by to check after a long while.

I must say again, this platform was very helpful to me prior to my journey to Houston and during my stay there early this year.
I had my babies in Houston late April smiley Though I had them earlier than planned (was directed to the theater during a weekly routine doctor’s follow-up), I had a safe delivery, they were healthy babies, and every subsequent documentation turned out to be a smooth process. I came back home almost a month later, it was one of the happiest days of my life lol, I never appreciated being home that much haha! I missed home. In all, I had a very pleasant experience with my doctor and the hospital back in Houston. Transportation was a tad bit of a challenge as for some reason I couldn’t use my Nigerian dollar card for uber which seemed to be the most popular way to get around town. Unlike other places I had been to, the transport system in Houston wasn’t too friendly (and expensive).

Accommodation/my host however turned out to be one of the most horrible experiences I ever had, details of which I do not wish to replay or for anyone. Our experience with her can be used to write a book lol (my aunt joined about 3 weeks to our departure). I must admit she was kind in the beginning till I paid my last rent and transportation which she unapologetically failed to live upto. What disappointed me the most was, my attention being drawn to her using my pictures and those of my babies publicly for her birthing/accommodation adverts without my knowledge. It took my family and I threatening her before she pulled them down. She happens to be a Nigerian lady (nurse/health worker with one of the popular hospitals here, don't know what to believe anymore) who I met through a helpful nairalander during my search for accommodation here. Now I won't be surprised if it turns out that she sent me the message/recommendation herself as it turned out she was an ardent follower of this thread.

In all, I have learnt a lot from this platform and my trip and will still like to say thank you to; Chibertha,Babatwi,Flowers for kind words and especially DerinDee who patiently answered all my questions, you were very helpful. Likewise others who I can’t name or recall who gladly shared very helpful information here. I coincidentally ran into a few nairalanders during my stay there but never linked names to faces.
My babies are 6 months old now and are the most beautiful, bubbly big boys smiley

I will be glad to answer any questions through PMs while I am less busy as my hands are almost always full (asides work, you know why).

I have also got to mention that ladee1 on the thread sent me a PM requesting that I help get some drugs from home to Texas promising to refund my money, I did, they picked it up and promised to bring my money ...till date, even after a reminder. The amount isn’t significant but I expected that a kind gesture from a total stranger will impose a burden to live upto a commitment. Such people deter others from helping those in need.

Wishing everyone a very pleasant evening.

Did the confirmation letter sent to you state that they are willing to accept you?
Did it state their prices for services?
Does it have Dr's contact & phone number?
If yes to the above questions then you are good to go.
Which ever option (either you book an accommodation or you stay with a friend) you chose is ok

Hi.
For you to get the passport immediately you have to go to the passport office in Washington DC once you have the BC & SSN. Else you have to wait.
