The fact that Jesus fed lots of people at the wedding ceremony in Cana doesn't mean some citizens of Cana didn't go to bed hungry on that same day. Jesus wasn't everywhere. He only healed people he encountered, especially those whose faiths were in tandem with his faith.

Anyone that can boldly pay 10% of his eanings to a place he/she spends barely 5hrs weekly can give anything out of compassion.

For your information, most orphanages in Nigeria today were built by Christians. Sometimes I pay tithes and I always pay my offerings. It is the same way I won't visit you if I don't have anything to offer you, I don't believe in taking from people (including God) without giving something in return.

I know loads of faithful tithe payers that can never be swayed by a roadside beggar to part with token change in their pockets. They don't pay their tithes because of their generosity and charitable spirit. Stop deceiving yourself. They pay if faithfully because they view it in transactional terms. "I pay my tithe and my business will boom" is the way they think. That is why one of the most common comments I see in this whole tithe brouhaha is "tithing works for me". If that's the case, Nigerians shouldn't care what the government do with the resources in the country. Nigerians pay taxes directly and indirectly.
