So just as I promised to share my total bill and experience for my first Missionary Journey:

Hospital Bill - 3k for noncomplicated vaginal delivery (it has to be paid before discharge from the hospital to qualify for the discount package)

Dr fee - 1k for vaginal delivery (payment is due at initial doctors appointment)

Lab test - 158

Ultra scan - 120

Paediatrician - 300

Well Child Check - 95 (this was done at JPS hospital fort Worth)

LO birth cert. - 23 each (collected two copies)

American Passport - 165 (I got it by mail exactly 13days after applying)

I got my zero balance from the hospital by mail 3 weeks after discharge. I left US with LO on the 30th of March, got to Qatar and was hoping to get a transit visa to qualify for an hotel in Doha but sadly our Visa wasn't granted by the immigration, we had to stay at the airport for a 12hrs layover. Thank God it's finally over for now, I will hang my coat and hibernate till further notice. Thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences, bills and answered both my public and direct questions, God bless you all especially @chloe7 @temmyo ...@dyout Congratulations and thank you so so much for the assistance with LO letter of Consent and it was nice to meet your Madam a fellow Nairalander in diaspora.
Peace!
[/Hello Boluwagin,Kindly share on the process you took get the doctor's and hospital appointment as well as the itemised bill. We are currently shopping for Docs and Hospitals. Thanks]

You should both apply for B1/B2. We treat all applications for either B1 or B2 as an application for a B1/B2.

Hello Nairalanders

I must salute the great work you all do here. Just thought to post my visa interview experience. Interview was on Nov 1 in Lagos.

My husband and I applied for B2 medical n tourism

VO: What’s your relationship?
Husband: We are married
VO: What’s the purpose of the visit?
Husband: To give birth
VO: Is this your first child?
Husband: Yes
VO: What do you do? Where do you work? Where did you school?
Husband: Bla bla
VO: What do you do? Where do you work? What does your job entail? Where did you school?
Me: Bla Bla
VO: What’s your budget? How much do you have?
Husband: About 24k, we have 16k (we had bank statements to prove it but he didn’t request for it)
VO: Your visas have been approved. And he gave us two white documents.
They didn’t ask to see any document. Favour all the way!

I’ll be in Houston last week of November. Using Dr Xydas and Houston Northwest Medical and staying at InTown Suites for now. Anyone with similar itinerary, let’s hook up. Thx

Congratulations.

My wife will b going by 2ND week of dec. Pls u can mail me so that u can connect with her.

Okay.
I searched tire in the Airport.

I was 34 weeks & all were saying 30weeks was their limit.

Was asked to get refund from wakanow to book another flight...
wakanow did not refund...

My dad had to change money to get naira of N66k to purchase brand new tickets...

Please God Only made a way for me to reach my destination.
Twas really God that made a way.

I flew Dana from PH to Lagos last year at 32 weeks and had no issues. I was asked for a letter from my Dr saying I was fit to fly, I had it and gave them. The airline staff was very nice and went to make copies for me because he said I had to give one to the FAs on board.

Waow!

I was 34 weeks plus 2 days and all the available airlines for the day kept telling me 30 weeks....

I had my hospital's fit to fly, showed them & it was not taken...

Just my thoughts

When they say do not take discounts or any form of aid, some still go ahead to register for WIC. Collecting something that is not your right and expecting nothing to happen is just wrong. You gave your info when registering for the AID so when they run a search, it would easily come up.

Please dont collect what does not belong to you!!!

WIC is a rather long way to go na...please..

I think the length of mistake anyone here has made is Medicaid only Abeg.

The requirements for wic is Medicaid plus other stuff.

Thank you.

So guys arrived Atlanta a little over 2 weeks ago.

I've been busy with paper work & registrations...

All the contracts & monies I was expecting before this time did not pull through...so I didn't start off with money like you guys.

Just been depending of The Grace of God and everything is working out Good.
I dont expect less from serving A Great God, opening doors here and there.

So still quite busy, it took quite some time for me to catch up...

Though my original plan was to use a birth centre.
But I would be using a health centre/hospital.

Still have so much to do before I can say I'm relaxing waiting for baby... smiley

Congrats in Advance everyone!

Also let me say,
The possibility of being denied visa is there not because you did anything wrong, or they don't like your face, or something...

It's just that I'm sure they have limits on approvals they can give, maybe per week, per month, per day...

I'm not sure they can say yes to everyone...

But do your best & God will see you through nevertheless.

Thanks to everyone for the important information. My wife is due in February 2018. She has a virgin passport and is applying for a medical visa. I have been to the U.S six times and my current B1/B2 which I got for work related trainings expires November 2018. Do I need to apply for a medical visa in order to join my wife just before delivery? Does she need to include me in her application as an accompany relative? @AbujaNIV and LagosNIV. Thanks

she can apply alone. You don’t need to reapply as your current visa will grant you entry with her on a medical Visa. She should include a copy of ur Visa and data page in her document in case it’s needed.

The interviewer can ask questions like... are u married? Who is accompanying u? She can now say u already have a valid visa and can show evidence for their record.

DW and I are considered El Paso. But the $900.00 and $1,300 per day for mother and child respectively for hospital stay after 2 days is scary. We are now considering Houston Northwestern Medical Center. Please what is their policy for hospital stay beyond 2 days? DW will require a CS.

Thank you.

All hospitals have additional fees after each day if you or your baby need to stay for extra days. Most hospitals charge a lot more than just $900 and $1300 so make sure the hospital you choose discloses how much they will charge you for additional days since it will not be free regardless of the hospital you choose. You may even want to reconsider your trip to the USA if your budget cannot handle a $900-$1300 emergency.
