I support Okorocha. If you have millions of angry people living in abject poverty because of unpaid salaries and pensions, it makes sense to have someone make sure they are happy. Who is in a better position to do this than his sister?
Before blaming Okorocha, consider than he has been receiving daily dosage of slaps from invisible hands. It may not be ordinary. Call Psychiatrists.

As for me I keep wondering why Okorocha pays no attention to the media blackmail against him and conspiracy to cover up his achievements while making outsiders believe a script written and being acted against him. I don't like insulting people here on NAIRALAND, but you deserve it. you're an abandoned idiot, what has Rochas done for imolites to be happy? we're competing with Aba whose dirtier, no good roads, abandoned projects here and there, non payment of some civil servants salaries, insecurity on the rise, education is dead, rendering thousands of business men and women useless, building statues here and there for corrupt leaders, etc.

A Nigerian governor has created a new role for his sister - as commissioner for happiness and couples' fulfilment.

Rochas Okorocha unveiled the post during the swearing in of 27 other new commissioners for Imo State.

It is not the first questionable decision the governor has made in recent times.

Earlier this year, he unveiled a statue dedicated to South African President Jacob Zuma - a man who has no apparent links to the south-eastern state.

But Owerri people yearn for Okorocha's son-inlaw to succeed Okorocha in 2019, to continue with Okorocha's policy.

Last month, Owerri traditional rulers adopted Okorocha's son-inlaw who doubles as his CoS as Owerri son, because Owerri says it's Owerri turn in 2019 to present governor.


Okorocha govt policy is that Owerri capital city must be developed by government to the level of Dubai before any government can pay development attention to Orlu and Okigwe zones of Imo state.


Today, Orlu and Okigwe are in decay.


Every development establishment in Imo state, including five federal and state universities and polytechnics are in or nearest Owerri, all federal housing estates for Imo state were built in Owerri, all major military and police establishments are for Owerri;
worse, some Owerri people still instigate Okorocha to close minor govt establishments outside Owerri, like teaching hospital and schools to relocate them to Owerri.

Imo state capital has now developed into two big Owerri cities - old and new Owerri, while rest of the state remain villages without any modern infrastructure.

Simply put, Imo state couldn't have degenerated to this level, if Owerri and its petition writers allowed Okorocha to govern the whole of Imo state.

When Okorocha set out to extend urban development to Orlu and Okigwe in 2012, Owerri journalists and petition writers called Okorocha "a Clown in Douglas House, Owerri."

Grossly intimidated, Okorocha succumbed to intimidation and abandoned the urban development projects he started in Orlu and Okigwe areas, and retired to Owerri where he he built ten lane streets, flyovers, tunnels, five Inland roads, bye pass roads, markets, airport, and many other urban expansion projects. Nothing outside Owerri. But Owerri indegenes clapped "Owelle Mere Yaa." Rest of Imo dilapidated.

At one point, Owelle felt he had become a great governor that he started to do things without consultations.

Close to 95% of income to Imo state circulates only in Owerri. Foolishness or what makes you be proud of that, and ascribe to Imolites being happy over that?

Owerri occupies less than 7% of land mass of Imo state, contains less than 10% of the population of Imo state.

You don't care a hoot about what the rest of Imo state suffer.

Who taught you that a state's capital must be more developed by government above the rest of the state?

Ooh please.. That's was not the reason.
Rochas.had ill thought out ideas of concurrent development of the whole state.
His schools and hospital projects were spread across every local government.however suddenly he changed gear and focused solely on Owerri as it appears.
Why?

Crash in oil price.

Oil crashed by half. So state allocations fell by half .

If imo state received 2billion a month previously, after salaries and loan repayments the state might have 1b left for development . However with the oil price halved, imo state allocation halved to N1Billion.
Imo state and many other state found they could no longer pay salaries or loan commitments, contractors etc.

Hence with the little money Rochas squeezed out from non-payment of salaries to our poor teachers and state workers , he decided focusing on only in Owerri will better highlight his effort.


It's like a man who has only one gallon of paint to paint a house., would you advise him to embark on an attempt to paint the full house with that one gallon or focus on one room- the main living room?


trying to rub and shine the whole house. That will make a mess of the house. Best to focus on one room- the living room and paint it proper.
