It is not about some mythical "making it". It is about living and enjoying your life within a system that WORKS and is reliable. Just about every person you read was shot by police in US their families are paid millions. In Nigeria it ends there. U can be rich in US with no fear of being kidnapped by anybody. Not so in Nig. Drainage, garbage disposal, food and drug inspections, prescription system, hospitals, emergency rooms, universities, etc. Everything WORKS and is well equipped. Why trying to compare two things that are not comparable. Not only is the system in 9ja broken, I honestly think it is beyond repair. Just being honest.
you have time arguing with some deluded people sha. Even their president ran to UK when he is sick. Their politicians, their school abroad and live abroad. He is here praising a shit country that even their leaders doesn't give shit about it. Nigeria is the worst country in Africa.

For all those that are saying OP shouldn't go back to Nigeria, I have this to say to you...

I pray LORD God hears your prayers and take you to your desired destinations. I pray you have the best education money can buy. I pray you work in one of the fortune 100 companies and have a fat account. I pray you live and never ever even thing about relocating back to Nigeria.

You have no idea what it is to live in America for decades. Trust me, it's not a blessing, it's not something you really want. It's a shame we don't appreciate what we have till we loose it. No matter how successful you become, you will never find that peace till you relocate back home. Trust me, I know. Nigeria is not one of the better county out there to live but it's still your "home".

America is good to get some education and work experience with some cash like the OP outlined, nothing else. If we all go back home to start something with our savings, then we can help our brothers and sisters to get a job. Imagine if just 200k naija here go back home to set up a business that can employ 10 people each? Now multiply the original figure by 5?

Most people here don't want to go back home because of the way you paint naija negatively. Sure, there's a lot of nativities out there but there are even more here too. e.g. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-32740523

What makes you guys think the West doesn't have their problems?

Be positive and never give up. Stop waiting for government to do everything for you, matter of fact don't expect them to do anything for you. Why? Prepare for the worst and hope for the best nevertheless, put your trust in God and not the Nigeria government.

But as the good book notes hell is much more populated than heaven and purgatory... If you have up to 5 million as saves come to naija and invest it... I assure you if you miss heaven you can't miss purgatory except your village people do meeting on top your matter grin grin

There are more people being robbed, kidnapped and killed in America than Nigeria. You guys are truly under a brainwashing circle. Nairaland is filled with minors who are just starting life. No sane person in his/her mid 30's will type some of the garbage I see here. Only brainwashed mofos believe success has anything to do with location. America gives you zero chance of making it like everywhere in the world. You must create your success path yourself. This is a thread of the dumbest set of individuals
Zero chance? Are you kidding me? You must be a deluded person. Why did your government or people like dangote likes borrowing from foreign banks and lenders? Its because the loans are easy to get, with very low interest and with long term duration. I was checking Australian national welfare sites and I saw lots of welfare packages for the youths, unemployed and the elderly. Youths that wants to start business can easily get loans without any interest and collateral and to be paid back in years. Also person that wants to go to school and doesn't have money can secure loans and after he graduated and gets job can pay back the loans, in such a way that it won't affect him at all, eg, collecting 100k salary and then be paying like 3k as loan repayment. Is there such in nigeria? Why did your politicians send their children to school abroad? Why did your president travels abroad to treat himself? Why not Nigeria? If you graduate in those countries and haven't gotten job, do you know that you will be given unemployment benefit? The systems abroad is designed to help their citizens make it easily an get whatever they desire easily. Nigeria in other words, makes live a living hell for its citizens. People have business ideas but there's no capital, some people wish to go to school but theres no means for them, if they had student loans like those countries, and they can also work while schooling like those countries, don't you think they will go? I have friends that wrote GRE exams and passed and was given funding in USA universities and they're even working while in school. Which nigerian universities can give Nigerians that opportunity not to talk of giving a foreigner. Please don't glorify the hell called Nigeria. Even your leaders doesn't care about the country. They do their things outside the country.

Dear OP,

You have received a lot stupid, funny, ignorant and candid advice from this forum. In as much as I doubt the legitimacy of you story, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt to believe it. I admire your courage and urge to go back home but no one lick a hot soup in a hurry. I have been in your mental state many many times. But after 21 years in Texas, USA. I’m still here. It’s kind of sad that you are not yet a permanent resident or citizen. Your case and choices would have been a lot easier. But I want you to be careful in your decisions. America is such a funny place, the so called American Dream is just that, a dream! And you have to be asleep to see it. From my first job at papa Johns making around $5.00/ hour to now making over $130,000/year the urge is still there to go home. I tell people all the time that if there is light and adequate water system, a lot of people wouldn’t mind going home. My advice would be to try and enroll in another useful graduate program to buy some time, you don’t have to finish it but you can use it to buy time to see if there are ways you can save more money and get your legal status, then your choice would be a lot easier and the risk would be a lot bearable. But rushing to Nigeria without a concrete fall-back strategy can be disastrous.

All this bickering and time wasting arguments, blind patriotism, lies and deceits, y'all fail to notice that the op is only moving back because he has issues with his US status and doesn't have a choice for now. You think if he has his green card he would ever consider relocating permanently to Nigeria?

Quite apart from this, how much will it cost to complete a Ltd company registration that has a reserved name with CAC?

Thank you for the question, having reserved a name firstly I'm pretty sure you are therefore aware the reservation of your company name would last for just 60 days, of which secondly the standard pratice us lawyers do is to charge you 10% of your authorized capital as the legal fees for incoporating your company

so the price of getting a certficate of incorporation is directly proportional to the proposed worth of how much money the company is starting, but I personally can incorporate your company for a fixed 50k sum regardless of what your authorized share capital is or how many subsidiaries companies you may wish to have.
Please also feel free to contact me on the other advice you may need on pre or post incorporation of a company such as the corporate taxes, the reliefs, registration with Nipc, no tap, free zone trade, filling of company returns to the CAC,annual returns, statutory meetings, details on how directors may be appointed or removed, same with secretaries.. In fact ask me anything you are unsure of I would be wlig to answer in here

My very humble and passionate appeal, coming back home to Nigeria our great country, note the following:

1.Are you coming to invest in your own business, if yes come but do not break your link if you will have to return back the USA.

2.If coming to get a super employment, be careful, they can render your career useless with politics, nepotism, juju.............

3.Just try and acclimatize back to Nigeria, but invest in Estate,Agriculture, School business.........i can help to monitor and grow it......

Finally, pray and think fast.........Goodluck

.it's a good thing the media in the USA portrays them good until some of us travelled and saw things first hand..of course no doubts the USA Is a great country but still don't negates the fact they gat plenty loopholes..ignore all the illiterate, desperate, naive, minds on here..a whole lot of people are doing well in Nigeria
But I will advice you to first confirm your status in the USA,try get your citizenship or green card.with your qualifications and expertise you should get a good paying job in Nigeria, don't let anyone talk you into luxury once you get into naija, prioritise yourself. Each time I visit the USA my friends get jealous as how I can come and go as I like..I really cnt settle in the USA..its not for me..to each his own anyways,we all can't live in Nigeria and we all cnt live in the USA..best wishes!

Yes 30k dollars is just about 10 million naira
And yes 30k can build a petrol station
I have statistics in documentary form to back these facts up.
Nevertheless by my statistics here is a summary of how much it costs to build a petrol station in Nigeria
1.Empty Land ( 1plot is idea but 2 plots is preferable -budget -500k -900k

2. Service station ( this is the building in the middle of every petrol station where the attendants stay or dispense other items except petrol from or where the managers office is located.. It is commonly a rectangular shaped building the size of 2 rooms. Mud blocks can be used to save cost and cheap corrugated roof can be used in it's construction since it building itself is almost useless as it doesn't in real sense bring any income for the petrol station when in operation. Budget 1.5 million to 2 million ( foundation 400k, construction to lintel 300k, roofing and plastering 1.2milion naira )

3. Underground tank - this is the actual most important part of a petrol station so it's advisable to build this first before constructing the service station ...price varies but most popular version is in form of a septic tank which almost everyone has in thier homes just that the plastering would be different to accommodate the petroleum products to be kept In them....budget 800k to 1.5 million naira

4. Fuel pumps/dispensers - for some very crazy reasons fuel pumps and dispensers cost a fortune even though it's a pump and an electronic meter to measure the quantity of liquid being dispensed is in all of them.... Fuel dispensers are expensive so budget 1 million for each unit ... The minimum you need is 2 units, on average you might need 3 fuel dispensers ....so budget 3 million

5. Shield for the fuel dispenser...this is made to provide shelter and illumination for the fuel pumps. They can be made from anything so far it does the job ...budget 200k

6.misclleanoues expenses which include the cost of applying for license to lift petroleum from Nnpc depots (if you have ur own tanker if not you can simply enter an agreement with someone that has ) and other operating costs -1 million naira

Total costs
1.empty land- 500k
2.service station- 1.5 million
3.fuel dispensers - 3 million
4.fuel shield/shelter-200k
5.operating and misclleanoues costs -1million

So total less than 6 million naira so in an effort to answer your question not only would 10 million build a petrol station in Nigeria, it can even build 2 petrol stations and make back the 10 million in less than 2 months of opening

Your sincerely
Akinola eluyefa esq

Liar!!!. 10 million cannot build a filling station.
