well if you a student then it's gonna b really difficult coping, but if u hardly stay at home then u are ok

You created the avenue to listen to their gossips, make yourself busy when at home this isn't saying you shut yourself to your neighbor but make the relation as simple as possible.

most tyms i intentionally come in late, but days i cant avoid such nuisance; i make sure earpiece is plugged on, and i nod absent-mindedly @ every silly discussion...& ofcourse they get the gist

as much as possible stay away from the unhappy and gossip.... it can infect u.

I remember those days my grand mum had problematic tenants. She turn to a judge by fire by force untill one day, I was ready to go for lectures when she wrote this on a paper for me to type in a business centre and bring for her. "I HAVE MY PROBLEMS DON'T BRING YOURS". She instructed me to make it very bold. I did it and brought it for her. She pasted it on her door. From that day, any one that brought any complain to her she won't even bother listening but would just point at the message at the door.
I suggest you do the same.
