seunny4lif:I didnt go to conakry via mali, I entered conakry from Airport and also travel from there,I went to business town of Siguri, kankan and kekedu from Bomako, mali. The roads are good. That trip is a different trip from Conakry own that took me to Bamako then to those towns in Guinea, the road from mali to Guinea is good and also to those town. |

Childofaking:They were able to solve it because they are smaller countries, im not saying with sincerity of purpose we cant, im only saying that even when the sincerity of purpose is there, more resources, energy and time will be spent, an average Nigerian has a fast mind on a fast lane, he wants it like yesterday but the real world doesnt work like that, when I look at the Nigerian map with over 900k sq km land mass, i asked myself, how long will it take us to build something like a national grid and at what cost? I recently discovered after that research that if we dedicate all our National budget to that project for 5yrs, we still haven't gone round. Then i began to appreciate leaders like Obasanjo, Shagari & IBB. DO you know that when IBB finished the 3rd mainland bridge, it was the longest in Africa at 11km, until Egypt delivered the 6th october? Building infrastructure for a big country like Nigeria is a big deal, reason we have to elect good leaders real quick if we want to see a developed nigeria in our lifetime. |

jayarziki20:Dude, why are you being so defensive? Have you even been outside of this country before? Yet you are so quick to say "You can't compare any of them to Nigeria" when you have never been there in the first place. |

stilldoingokay:Seems you don't live in Abuja or you may be living in the outskirts of the city which is close to other States like nassarawa, kogi and Niger States or satellite towns where the majority of abuja working class are residing not in the main city hence your assertions that Ghana is beautiful than and better than Abuja. Unfortunately I can tell you that you are very wrong, it doesn't Even add up.... Plus Abuja is a rapidly growing and evolving city |

Odingo1:I agree with most of your analysis except for the part from the bold. N300K is about $800 which is about 40,000 Dalasis. I dont know how many good businesses someone can do with that amount apart from tailoring, salon and selling 2nd hand stuff which I saw a lot of Naija guys doing. Real business with good income will need a lot more than that. Hey, I really hope to visit Guinea Conakry for holiday anytime I get the time to check out the Fula girls. Was told they are lot easier than the Fulas in Gambia. Those Fulas girls give me the satisfaction we don't easily get from our Naija Fulani girls. ![]() |

jpphilips:actually building power grid for Nigeria isn't that a big deal. the problem is the law guidelines in generating and distribution. if laws can be amended that we can regionalise power grid. we can get things done from conception to completion in less than 3 years. |

WinningSun:At 2,375km the Rio Madeira is the longest grid operational today, it was built in 2yrs at the cost of $540m (194.4b naira), Nigeria needs 379 pieces of Rio Madeira to cover our 900k sq km, do the maths what the cost and time frame will be. Dont talk because you can, talk when you have your facts. |
| Re: What ECOWAS Countries Have You Visited? How Do They Compare To Nigeria? by Nobody: 11:14am On Jan 30, 2018 |
jpphilips:oga known facts are not generally true for every circumstance. if we make our power grid regional. we can build 6, power grid in less than three years. so far we build it simultaneously. the distance between Lagos and calabar is less than 800 km and they are not even in the same region. next time you learn to think outside the box. |
| Re: What ECOWAS Countries Have You Visited? How Do They Compare To Nigeria? by jpphilips(m): 11:46am On Jan 30, 2018 |
WinningSun:It is one thing to finish SSCE on Nairaland, it is another to have a project experience, you sincerely believe that you are thinking outside the box by balkanizing your grid by 800 km over 900k sq kms? Do you even have a clue what balkanizing that grid will do to your project cost? Do you have a clue the regulatory implications of such? with 11 operational discos, how do you do bulk energy transfer when you balkanize the grid? How do you maximize unspent energy when you balkanize the grid? Your outside the box thinking suggest you can build 6 grids simultaneously in 3yrs at what cost? how much is your national budget? what is the source of your funding? Borrow? what is your debt profile? I think you have no idea what project management means!! |

stilldoingokay:True that's because of the UNCHECKED growing influx of people from all walks of life migrating and settling into the city daily, hence there is a massive population explosion going on. Therefore the real peace, serenity, nature, accessibility etc is gradually fading out the real beauty of Abuja, coupled with increasing pressures on public infrastructures. Compared to the other capitals which have smaller populations. Though i respect your opinions, I am of the full believe that Abuja is not in the leagues of capitals like ACCRA. Cheers! |
