I need your professional input on this. I applied for a student visa sometime in 2005 for my Masters but was denied twice one for Fall term and the other for Spring term. In fact I lost interest in anything traveling out and started my hustles in Naija. I got married in 2012 and my marriage has been blessed all around with two wonderful kids (a boy and a girl).

There has been quantum leap in my finance as I not only manage 3 hotels, I consult for several other hotels and currently co-own a company which is just two years old but doing so well financially. Wifey who is a nurse recently took in for our 3rd baby and we are considering having the baby in US. I've been following this thread and I've been encouraged by the positives and challenged by the negatives on getting a US B1/B2 Visa.

We are considering going for an interview as a family by March ending or first week of April and would need all the encouragement to proceed. While wifey will be going for the medical visa, my kids and I will go for the tourist visa (Note: this is our first travel out of Naija as our vacation has always been in Naija or Ghana). I'll be sponsoring this and have enough financial backing (Bank statement plus fixed deposit). Wifey's aunt in Texas, US wants to provide accommodation and has made arrangements with a doctor in a hospital with a total package not more than 6k for either cs or vag.

Wifey will travel first with my last baby while I intend to meet up with them together with my son close to her EDD as my job is really very demanding. What is your take on this and what chances do we have to get the visa as a family.

I will appreciate some constructive and objective response from the experts in the house. Is there something we can do differently?

Buy directly from the airline because it saves you all sorts of problems, I still don't understand why people buy ticket through agents.

I don't have any. You can come up with yours, basically it's an outline of your budget for the trip

I will advise your wife and child applies first since they are the ones going to stay all through.

You and the second child can apply afterwards because if you all apply together they might think you want to relocate and wont return back.

It's not my responsibility to keep agents in business, as a consumer I shop around for the best deal and in this case buying directly from the airlines presents a better deal.

It's easier, cheaper and less stressful buying from the airlines directly than dealing with agents.

Ticketing agents and photographers will see a huge decline in business as time goes on because internet and smartphones, its down to them to move on to other businesses.

This is not a problem, if u can get an interview date before her EDD. @ My first trip my visa interview date was just 6wks before EDD

My view is different. Tot your reason would be dat if wifey and baby are denied, the loss will be minimal unlike if they all apply together and all get bumped.

Don't give them any iota of doubt that you are returning after the childbirth/vacation.
This, in summary, means that you need all the proofs that you are going to return. Apply together and tell them about the travel plans. ..good thing is dat you have an existing accommodation.
However, the $6k budget for hospital/doctor et al is very discouraging. If I'm the VO, coupled with poor travel history, that's enough reason to ensure you are going nowhere. Blue paper all the way unless your bank statement is superb.

Hi everyone. I have been a silent reader of this thread since part 4 and I have gathered enough information to proceed with the birthing process.
My DW is 3 months gone and we want to start the process early.

I'm a car importer and a car dealer, I have been into automobile business for the past 5 years but i register my company over 2 years ago. I import my cars from USA as I have all the required license to buy from the auction.

I got married august 2017 and me and DW traveled to Kenya, Tanzania and Dubai for our honeymoon. Also, I have also been to South Africa once before getting married.

DW is not working yet, infact she just got her appointment letter yesterday from civil service commission in Lagos and she has upto 6 weeks before she can submit acceptance letter and start working. I want DW to give birth to our baby in Houston, Texas and we have prepared the budget sheet, about $15,000 and I will be sponsoring the trip.

I have my company bank statement and also my person account statement with enough funds to cover the trip.

Now, I do receive car payment to my personal account sometimes, and I'm wondering if this won't affect us?
Also, I don't have a fixed salary but I make between 600K to 1M monthly, I don't pay salary into my savings account from my business account, I hope that won't pose any problem?

pls, any advice will be appreciated. , I really don't have to visit US but my wife is my priority so we can give our baby that dual citizenship.

Well it’s a two edged sword . It has happened from part one to five on this thread so she can only continue to try her luck and it will come through for her considering how close or far her edd is

I want to assume you'll be a cash patient. You already know the grave consequences of using medicaid.
Adjust your birth budget to the tune of $15k to $20k. ..normal delivery to CS. You will most likely not spend as much (no harm negotiating with doc and hospital) since you'll be paying cash.
With a good statement from the bank and communications with hospital/doctor you are good to go.
Again rehearse again and again your job responsiblities because they'll sure ask you and you must sound convincing.
And proofs (documents) on those hotels you manage plus your position in the private partnership you co-own.
Quest for dual citizenship for your baby is the main reason you are choosing the US.

Thank you Aro for your submissions. Would you advice I contact the Doctor and the Hospital to relay this concern about hospital budget to them? Perhaps, I will also advise he reflects this in our correspondence. Also, when you say 15k to 20k, is it the total travel budget or the delivery budget alone? In that case what would be the total travel budget assuming the 15k to 20k is just for delivery and other hospital concerns?

Then, talking about proofs on the hotels I manage I'm guessing you mean Letters from the hotels showing appointment and possibly permission to proceed on leave. If not, what documents should be ideal? The hotel is just a brand with branches in Lagos, Abuja and Anambra and I travel a lot to these branches. Moreover, I'm supervising a new branch that is under construction in Rivers state.

Subsequently I have travelled once on the same visa without hassles even though I was asked for my receipts at the Poe which I showed to them and was cleared free to go. During my first trip for delivery in 2016, things got so bad between me and my then husband and he asked for a divorce with the backing of his family (though our marriage was already very turbulent before then and we were saperated for a while ). On return to nigeria the marriage finally ended. Now, my ex has relocated to the US to start a new life. I am pregnant for someone else though we are not married and would like to use my valid visa to birth again in the US. My questions are these, will i be asked about my ex? And with him being in the US pose a problem to me at the immigration especially at the poe? I have the divorce certificate and every other documents to show if asked. The CBP officer most likely might ask you questions about your husband seeing that you are expecting a child and they might assume that you are married, it now depends on your answer. For example if you are asked, is your husband joining you on this trip, I think you answer should be something like,no or yes my partner will be joining me.
Regarding your visa, what matters is that you enter the us before your visa expires.
No,I don't think you need to notify the embassy. Don't bother yourself too much about this,I don't think it's such a big deal. Just hold enough evidence to support your claim incase it comes up.

I thought confirmation number should be given after filling the forms just like here where i did my initial application.
Anyways, I entered the confirmation number I received from Tanzania here and the application continued. Then it showed that the next appointment is on 20th March. That is about the time i will be delivering though due date is 5th April.

Am considering the fact that I will havento spend a lot to fly back to Nigeria and probably with my 5 year old girl. I just want to try again in Nigeria and confront my fears once and for all. It has been confirmed that the consulars in Tanzania do not give visas to nigerians living there because of 'strong ties in home country'. Another friend went 3 times and they beat allbtheir excuses of finance and string ties and the lady finally told her the final reason is because cbp wont let her pass with belly.

Are you sure you have the right web page for Nigeria? I don't think you should be able to use an old confirmation number especially a Tanzanian one. Once you start a new application it should give you a fresh number that you will note down with your surname and date of birth and a security question....in case you don't finish in one sitting and have to go back to your application.

Once you have completed the form and paid the fee to GTB you can then book an appointment. After this is done you should see an option for expedite appointment.

Their requirements for medical reason for an expedited appointment are very clear:

Requirements are Nigerian doctor's letter, U.S. doctor's letter and proof of funding or payment for all medical services (doctor, hospital etc) ....this can be your receipt or bank statement.
