A reminder: This forum was created amongst other reasons to make the best returns from the NSE for each and everyone. This IMO depends largely on FDI, company earnings, economic outlook, changes in economic policy (CBN:macro and micro economic), inflation, etc.

However, it seems some members have forgotten the purpose of this forum. Therefore, if someone says or predicts something based on his experience/perception so that others can quickly use the information to his/her advantage and not be caught unaware, others will see it as either monkey hunting or doom prophecy (for example: I referenced oracle's good foresight about the market and others see it as creating panic for others to sell, so that I can buy low), Well, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, according to 'onegentleguy' TIME WILL TELL.

Once again, I do not see any bull in sight for now in the market because prices of most equities (about 90%) have gone beyond their earnings. Has it been that oil continue its rallies, the bull would have stayed longer.

This is not to say that equities will go on a free fall. Most equities will likely shed 5 - 15% of their price until their results are released.
SO MUCH FOR NOW, THE MARKET OUTLOOK MAY CHANGE WHEN OTHER INDICES HIGHLIGHTED ABOVE CHANGES.

I have been accused of all sorts here grin today they will say I'm the cause of the bear in NSE. Tomorrow they will say that using foreign indices to compare Nigerian market. Next they will say it is because I have sold.

Markets are closely configured somehow. Before one finishes trading, another one has started. Asia markets start midnight while we are sleeping. It runs till we wake and while it is about closing European markets start. NSE starts after EU markets. These trades continue till afternoon. NSE closes butt EU markets still stay open till US market starts. Remember that with technology, news reach faster than before.

If Asia markets are green, EU markets willl likely be green. Before close of EU markets and US markets open with Dow losing 1,000 points for example, immediately all EU markets will become bearish at close. If US market continues its redness till closure , remember that Asia markets will open our midnight, investors will fret and want to go for safety. So the domino continue.

People have not studies these, instead they attack the messenger who predicts an outcome that will certainly happen. Why will it certainly happen? Because we are all humans....we fear losing our lives, we fear losing properties, we fear losing money. So human (inexperienced ones) will naturally fret and take off. If he does that, he tells others. The others come in as a herd and the rest is what we see now.

As for those events affecting NSE, who are these FPIs? They are foreigners. They will want to sell or stop buying stocks in your country. Why? They need to understand what is the cause of the events in their country. Indirectly, it affects NSE because they are no longer buying like they used to or they had started selling.

I have pieced all these together and extrapolated them and advised. Instead what I get is names. Continue grin

I'm L shocked shocked King at una on my mattress. grin

Most of what is said here na noise.
Oil price is the only thing that has correlation with NSE, and that has been said before.

For those who don't the reason for the oil price drop, read here. So why won't Saudi wait till sub 50? In fact they may even accelerate it to that point sef

Another breathless day. The Dow lost steam through the morning, rallied and then sank again. By 1:30, it was off roughly 500 points. From there, a quick rally, a sudden drop—and then another leap into the close. At the bell, it was up 330.44, at 24,190.90. Still, it was the market’s worst week since January 2016.

This time Janet is saved

Looks like low Oil price now will not favor the Saudi's because of the Saudi Aramco's up coming IPO not sure exact date....they know how to play their cards sha.
It's to see how all these plays out....now volatility is becoming the new normal thereby requiring new strategies with bargain hunters watching keenly.

@Kolaish
Sir, Please on what parameter did you arrive at your conclusion regarding the present prices of Nigerian stocks ? Did you also consider their P.E.s? I'm asking because, considering Nigerian stocks Price Per Earnings, I believe they are still cheap. That is the bases for which I chose the present stocks that I'm in.

I'm still learning, though.

Saudi Aramco's valuations is in trillion USD. How are they gonna list that. Who is gonna buy? That will be the first multi-trillion dollar listing in the world.

Did you read those who called in .....a priest in a Catholic church. Oneday the board of the church will just say that instead of their offerings varnishing, they should get out of the market.

Volatility is simple English is just fear! People who don't know anything are in the market exacerbating the volatility.

You are right. But are others in other markets (world markets not NSE o) relaxed?

Midnight Sunday trading of Asian markets will tell people what the week will look like.

Let's also look in this direction. When China stock market started falling in 2016 or so, the government cane out and said they will defend the market with their reserves. This reduces the panic and market became normal.

Now the same Chinese government are not saying anything. grin

Maybe because it is a "healthy correction".

talking about volatility, there is another scare coming up next week.the us labour department is set to release the inflation numbers next week Wednesday.inflation rose 2.1 year on year last December.anything above this figure might trigger another sell off in equities, high inflation numbers might lead to higher lending rate, which might not be good for the equity market.

I know they try not to go above 2%.

Withdrawal of cheap credit(loans at very low rates) will be a problem for the government worldwide.

May I ask: are those cheap credits brought into Nigerian market too?

wink

your guess is as good as mine.what we know is that high inflation numbers, leads to high lending rate to curb the effect of the inflation.if the lending rate is high, then the yields on government securities(bonds, treasurybills etc)will go up.investors sensed a bargain on government securities, they jaaa from equities to bonds.if investors are leaving the stock ex the effect is good bye Janet.if it happens in usa in the afternoon,Asian market will caught cold, followed by Europe, then NSE.abi no be so.

Exactly! If it would crash, let it crash. That's the nature of the business. No big deal. The bottom line is, if it crashes, may God provide us money to buy from the bottom and make more money.
What is disgusting is when some loved ones opportunistically hype and ignite terror about the impending doomsday in the forum everyday, because the scenario is suitable for their trading strategy. Let me sleeping dog lye.
