i'm happy for him too. i had my fears for him when he was not able to replicate his fine form for us in the algeria game at uyo in other matches but he has strived to improve his game. he's yet to carve a niche for himself as regards what is his best position for the super eagles but his versatility is really a plus to him some might say a minus.

what really impressed me was how he left his comfort zone in portugal to go improve himself in spain. his recent form has definitely made me have a rethink about the composition of our midfield something like mikel obi, joel obi, ndidi, ogu, onazi, etebo would be quite a battling unit

This is the richest midfield we've had since 98 or I dare say 94. Our midfield is tight.

or we increase a pattern we are already into which relying on 'foreign born' Nigerians.
There's more to developing football in Nigeria than just relying on FBs for tournaments.

Think about the socio-economic value: jobs for young men and women as players, media operators, PR handlers, physiotherapists, agents, scouts, coaches, instructors, administrative officials etc.

It's really big as in if it's structured as an enterprise. And we have a young population

I think his best position is the CMF and not DMF because he like to join the attack and reminds me of Ramsey at his best or wilshere ( I don't know why Arsenal players are coming to my head ... lol)
He also like to drive and has abundance of energy so coming back will not be much of an issue and that shows why he is able to cover so much ground.

Sir better than 94&98 team.

In 94 team we have Sunday Olishe,Austin Okocha,Mutiu Adepoju,Thompson Oliha and Emeka Ezeugu but funny enough Westerhoff trusted an attacker Samson Siasia in the midfield position head of natural midfielders, this can't happen in this present team.

In 98 team we have Sunday Olishe,Austin Okocha,Mutuu Adepoju, Garba Lawal and Wilson Oruma but this team look solid like present team but i see Garba Lawal competing with only Mikel Agu.

This present team is rich in midfield, pls check it out Mikel, Ndidi, Onazi,Etebo, Ogu,Joel and Agu.

Really! Then educate me sir.

Besides, Mikel Obi is an attacking midfielder for Nigeria, so was Jay Jay Okocha..

Sunday Oliseh(DMF). Wilfred Ndidi (DMF)

Mutiu Adepoju (M)(AMF),.. Ogenyi Onazi (M)(DMF)

Thompson oliha (DMF),..... John Ogu (DMF)

If you have any objection, please do state it.

Hope you guys remember that Onazi is the team vice captain,so that alone is enough for him to be in the 23 man list and apart from that he belong to three Wiseman in the midfield, left for Ogu,Etebo,Agu and Joel Obi to slug it out.

Ogu had Algeria and Argentina going for him

Etebo not really convincing recently in GWG but his form in LA liga speak volumes.

Agu not really convincing but Rohr rate him may be he see what we fans don't know.

Joel Obi just coming in and a good performance in camp should do the talking for him.

My man not easy to pick the two that would join Mikel, Onazi and Ndidi.

Difficult task.
We are aware of that bro. We aren't insinuating that he won't be in Russia ,as the assistant captain.

We are just assessing his current form which is highly questionable.

Nice thread guys,

I will be going to the World Cup(Russia 2018). Myfirst World Cup ever and I’m so freaken exited. Would be going with two other friends.

Who else would be going. Let’s hook up. Or who wishes to go (that is you have the funds) but don’t know how to go about it (especially if you’re outside nigeria).

Being at the World Cup is quite more straightforward and less expensive as they make it seem.

Love to hear from you guys.

Good i think this is US 94 midfielders, now let us compared to WC bound 2018.

1.Okocha vs Mikel

Okocha 94 was not better than Mikel 2018.Mikel of 2018 is ahead of Okocha 94 based on experience

2.Oliseh vs Ndidi.

We have a better Ndidi than Oliseh of US 94 playing for Leige.Ndidi is going to WC as a solid player who is fast growing as one of the best.

3.Mutiu vs Onazi

Mutiu was not a regular at US 94 even behind young Okocha who even sat out in group matches at US 94 for Siasia,so i will not compared him with regular Onazi.

4.Oliha vs Ogu

Oliha and Ogu,well difficult to compare cos both are not regular but if we want to based it on Ogu last performance in GWG then Ogu have my nod.

Note I based it on US 94 vs 2018.

How time flies, Tyronne Ebuehi once rejected his invite to play for Nigeria.

Tyronne Ebuehi Later accepted to play for Nigeria

Tyronne Ebuehi Later become the chairman of bench warming management and logistics in Super Eagles.

Tyronne Ebuehi Later declared his willingness to manage the bench warming office in Russia.

Tyronne Ebuehi now an important part of the team, threatening to bench Shehu who was once the best thing after chocolate for the RB position.

Indeed, Time and chance happen to everything.

Beautiful from Elder Sir Kog45 cheesy. Egbon Forgiveness did well in giving us the exact comparison matching but Elder Kog45 don break am down small for us....

He hammers on one solid point. 94 only vs '18 only. When, for instance, we look at Okocha of 94 vs Mikel of 2018 let us not allow the Okocha of later years between 1995 - 2006 to cone into that analysis. The analysis is strictly limited to 94 Hahahahahahahahaha.... and on this, Elder Kog45 is spot on. I agree with his analysis.

Egbon Forgiveness.... you try for the comparison matching. You are also spot on but Elder King Kog is right on the levels of the players in 94 vs players in 2018 in the midfield going to the WC.

9 Nigerian Players Fighting Relegation With European Clubs

Most clubs in top European leagues recently tidied up their transfer deals of this season’s campaign.

Completesportsnigeria.com ‘s JAMES AGBEREBI highlights NINE Nigerian players whose clubs could be relegated as their transactions seem to have failed to produce positive results hence their downward slide towards demotion.

OGHENEKARO ETEBO (Las Palmas)

Since his loan move from Portuguese top flight club Feirense to Las Palmas, Oghenekaro Etebo has been one of the outstanding players for the struggling LaLiga side.

Etebo has not missed any game since joining Las Palmas in January, appearing in five straight league games.

His latest impressive performance for the side was against league leaders, Barcelona who were held to a 1-1 draw with Etebo playing an influential role.
But it remains to be seen if his performances will be enough to keep Las Palmas in the league as they are currently in the relegation zone, the 18th position.

IMOH EZEKIEL (Las Palmas)

Just like Etebo, Imoh Ezekiel joined Las Palmas during the January transfer window from Konyaspor of Turkey.
Unfortunately, Ezekiel has made just two league appearances which ended in a draw and a loss.
Las Palmas will hope Ezekiel steps up and gets some of the goals in order to help secure their Laliga status for next season.

EMMANUEL EMENIKE (Las Palmas)

Emmanuel Emenike is the third Nigerian at the struggling Las Palmas following his switch from Olympiakos.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner is yet to make his debut for Las Palmas.
With 12 games remaining in the Laliga this season, hopefully Emenike will be called upon to help rescue relegation-haunted Las Palmas.

BROWN IDEYE (Malaga)

For Malaga to beat the drop from LaLiga, Brown Ideye would have to start chipping in the goals that win games.

Since his loan move from Chinese Super League club Tianjin Teda in January, Ideye has scored one goal in five league appearances.

Malaga who sit at the bottom od the league table will hope their Nigerian import adds match winners to his lone strike, to stand a chance of retaining their Laliga status.

ISAAC SUCCESS (Malaga)

After making his debut for Malaga in their 1-0 away loss to Las Palmas early February, Success’ next game was in the 2-1 home loss to Sevilla on Monday.

Despite making the starting eleven, Success was replaced in the 34th minute of the game.

The former Granada boy is one of the players Malaga coach Jose Gonzalez is banking on to avoid going into the Secunda division but things seems not to be going as planned yet for the young forward.

LEON BALOGUN (Mainz)

Leon Balogun has played in 10 of Mainz 24 Bundesliga games as they fight to maintain their status.

With 18 clubs competing in Germany’s elite division, Mainz are 16th, occupying the relegation play-off spot.

Featuring in Mainz’s last two league games which saw them claim four points out of six, Balogun would hope to continue making first team appearance to help steer the club away from the drop zone.

ANTHONY UJAH (Mainz)

Following his return to Mainz from Chinese Super League club, Liaoning Hongyun, Anthony Ujah is yet to make a meaningful impact that will help Mainz beat the drop.

He has made four league appearances for Mainz, but is yet to find the back of the net.

With Mainz’s present situation, Ujah and teammates must play out of their skin to ensure the club does not go down.

AMINU UMAR (Osmanlispor)

With four goals in 22 league appearances, Aminu Umar still needs to do more to make sure Osmanlispor don’t go down to the Turkish second division.

Osmanlispor are currently 17th on 20 points in the 18-club league table.

They have not won their last six top flight league games, losing three and drawing three.
Umar and his teammates will face Kenneth Omeruo and Emem Eduok’s Kasimpasa on Saturday and will hope to return to winning ways.

RAHEEM LAWAL (Osmanlispor)

Also expected to make sure Osmanlispor stay in the Turkish first division is Raheem Lawal.

Lawal has played in 17 league games for Osmanlispor but is yet to score for the struggling side.
He has the chance to open his goal account against Kasimpasa and help retain Osmanlispor’s first division status.

NFF’s World Cup windfall revealed
By Tolu Olasoji, Correspondent

The Amaju Pinnick-led board are guaranteed 8 million USD, but that could rise depending on how far the Super Eagles progress

Fifa have revealed the prize money to be handed to federations participating at the Russia 2018 World Cup and, like other participants, the Nigeria Football Federation are guaranteed $8 million for the group stages.

The prize is the least that a participating federation would earn as the amounts for going further in the competition rises.

While $8 million was the same amount received by countries that only lasted in the group phase of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, there is a significant increase starting from the knockout phase.

The Super Eagles under the late Stephen Keshi fetched the then Aminu Maigari-led NFF $9 million for staging a round of 16 exit at the 2014 edition in Brazil after France inflicted a 2-0 defeat on the team, however, should they achieve the same feat in the summer, they would be making $12 million [$3 million more].

As opposed to $14 million handed to quarterfinalists in 2014, teams unable to progress past the last-eight would receive $16 million.

Defending champions Germany made for the German Football Association $35 million while second-placed Argentina were handed $25 million, Netherlands and hosts Brazil $22 million and $20 million for finishing third and fourth respectively.

In Russia, the winning federation would get $38 million, while the runners-up, third and fourth teams would get $28 million, $24 million and $22 million respectively for their governing bodies.

Gernot Rohr's side have been pitted with Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D. And they get their campaign underway with a tie against the Fiery Ones at the Kaliningrad Stadium on July 16.
