danvon:based on Darwin's claim. This is what Darwin himself wrote in one of his letters. In what is perhaps his most revealing response, a letter in 1879 to John Fordyce, an author of works on scepticism, Darwin writes: "[My] judgment often fluctuates…. Whether a man deserves to be called a theist depends on the definition of the term … In my most extreme fluctuations I have never been an atheist in the sense of denying the existence of a God. — I think that generally (and more and more so as I grow older), but not always, — that an agnostic would be the most correct description of my state of mind." Darwin is agnostic not an atheist. Here is what he wrote in one of his letters. He clearly expressed agnoticism. In a letter to a correspondent at the University of Utrecht in 1873, Darwin expressed agnosticism: "I may say that the impossibility of conceiving that this grand and wondrous universe, with our conscious selves, arose through chance, seems to me the chief argument for the existence of God; but whether this is an argument of real value, I have never been able to decide. I am aware that if we admit a first cause, the mind still craves to know whence it came from and how it arose. Nor can I overlook the difficulty from the immense amount of suffering through the world. I am, also, induced to defer to a certain extent to the judgment of many able men who have fully believed in God; but here again I see how poor an argument this is. The safest conclusion seems to me to be that the whole subject is beyond the scope of man's intellect; but man can do his duty" |

I even told you that the law is the shadow while Christ is the reality. muttleylaff you see, he did not even address the issue. he used the fact that they were practicing Judaism not Christianity as an excuse. even when it was the same God. that was what brought me to my inference. everything that happened in Judaism is irrelevant and inconsequential to Christians. according to okcornel |

MuttleyLaff:the question was not whether it was Christians or Jews. it was the God who commanded the act. is it not the same God Christians and Jews serve? is it not YHWH that gave the Jews instructions in the old testament? do you not agree or are you not in support of his action in the old testament? are you against the way he ran things in the old testament, can you speak against it? since it was not Christians but Jews. wirinet was wrong in stating it was the Christians that God was instructing in the old testament. but my own issue is not whether it was Jews or Christians. my own issue is that it was God |

Gggg102:Yup... the Mosaic Laws do not apply to Christians... Before the Mosaic Laws came into existence, man knew what was good and evil... The Mosaic Laws however instructed the Jews on how to go about doing good and shunning evil... Jesus not only fulfilled the requirements of the Mosaic Law...He gave His followers a new covenant to work with... The Old covenant fulfilled by Jesus is not binding on Christians... Don't make the mistake of using the Mosaic Laws as the only standard that was in place to identify good and evil... Good and evil has been there before, during and after the Mosaic Law... In summary, stay away from evil and do good... |
