@OP you're correct.. SE is just as parasitic as some Nothern parts. They don't contribute anything but earn same allocations as those with the ports and resources. Yet they don't show gratitude. They open their parasitic mouths to call the country feeding them a zoo. 2 Likes 1 Share |

joeyfire:No the issue is not the quantum of IGR but its ratio to allocation. Ratio of IGR to allocation. A very low ratio is indicative of excessive reliance on allocation i.e parasitism It is not just prick measuring 3 Likes |

Yes. The South East is parasitic. Short on industries. Short on agricultural output. It's the least naturally endowed region in the country when you look at the size, population, paucity of mineral or natural resources, landlocked location etc. On top of all this, it has easily the lowest level of Federal infrastructural or industrial investment. By far. I wouldn't say we're as parasitic as the North. Only Kano and Kaduna out of the 13 "core North" states (i.e the real abokis in the NE and NW) raise up to N10billion a year in IGR, while 3 SE states out of 5 manage to do so. I'm surprised it's not 4 out of 5 as I'm shocked Imo can only raise just over N6billion in IGR in a year which puts them at the level of Ebonyi. Well done o, Okorocha. 3 Likes |

0monnak0da: What is stopping him from lifting Onitsha on his head? What is stopping Osun, Ondo, Ekiti or even mighty Oyo from doing what Ogun is doing? Ogun has become to Lagos, what Lagos mainland was to Lagos Island. Industries and residents from Lagos are spilling over the border and they're reaping the benefits. I'd say it's geographic endowment/blessings. 1 Like 1 Share |

GoroTango:Who do u feed and at what cost? farming in the north is done by anybody with the financial might including iboes, yoruba and even niger deltans. they can lease out a land to u for as low as 30k and u will also get cheap labour courtesy almajiris. so the farming that this goro man is talking about is rubbish. come to think of it, all the grains i farmed last year never made it to the market. Nigeria breweries bought the farm produce from me and harvested it themselve and i didnt pay a dime as tax. 1 Like |

0monnak0da: What a desperate analogy. Bill Gates son is nothing without his father but Lagos is not father to Ogun. Lagos is the money miss road senior brother to Ogun State. Why are you referencing a thread detailing how much British colonialists were making off crops from Lagos? You are only reinforcing the point that Lagos owes it's success to non-indigenous actors. Show me pre-colonial figures then we can discuss. When oyibo came you people were at each other's throats and had been for centuries until Kosoko (wisely) yielded to the British, ushering in foreign rule and investments that gave you a head start. Just be humble nigga... 6 Likes 1 Share |

It's also notable that for all the noise Anambrarians like making, Enugu, a civil service state, outperforms us in every IGR report. Despite the fact a lot more money is supposed to be circulating in Anambra: https://www.nairaland.com/3087723/nbs-report-bank-credit-deposit-states Can only guess the state must not have a very well mobilized, well organized civil service and traders don't pay much in taxes. 3 Likes |

ihitenansa: Those are not empirical facts though. Embarrasses me when many of you engage in this playground chest-beating. Talking about regional revenue is valid because it helps us understand what a restructured Nigeria with greater resource control would look like. Or for the fanatics, what a Biafra would look like when you are no longer depending on the oyel money of the Niger Delta. Any state that isn't generating more money than it is getting in allocations is not even close to being ready for the so-called "restructuring". How will a state like Ebonyi that gets over N35 billion in allocation, but only generates N5 billion in IGR survive under this restructuring? 4 Likes |

Obi1kenobi:Since the east is short on those aforementioned resources (natural, agricultural, human, industries n so on) and 3 out of 5 states still managed to generate more than #10b compared with 2 out of 13 core northern states, not minding d fact that north has some of those resources. if the east now have about 50% nko?? |
