I would go a step further and say that asking others to "pray" to meet the right person is also bull. If everything is at the discretion of the consulate, why do you then need to pray? The only reason we have such a difficult time at the US embassy is that we cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Japanese citizens do not need to "pray" to meet the right person at a US consulate. They fly visa free.

Our problem isn't prayer or a lack of it, but a lack of character.
are you telling me everyone that was denied av got bad character?...as at the time I was hustling for US visa I wasn't givin despite my travel exp and I'm sure some of you will tell me its cos you are single #nonsense...I eventually got it as single wit the same info I've been given them... nothing changes ..USA visa approval is favor unless if your leg strong ... else.. fill your form right...know your reason for traveling ..have a tie (tie can be nything, even your 1year job is a tie) and most important PRAY for favor...... my close friend got her visa on a virgin passport... single, first time applicant and jobless as at the time she applied ..

My brother when it comes to character Americans are worse. If our society has a good centralized database with updated info it wont be this bad. From what i read here so far, given my short acquaintance with this process, im led to believe ties to Nigeria is not a guaranteed security to rwturn home or to get visa. The issue these VOs have is cultural. I will elaborate.

I have a cousin that lived in US for many years and returned home after retirement from govt work to set up a consultancy here. He said they lost power one year during storm and the whole city went into panic mode like the world was ending.

The Americans trust mechanized syshumanand interaction more than they trust human interaction.

They place high value on instrumentation, and when it fails their reliability on human input depletes.

If we had a central database system they know will spew out information they are looking for they will have less issue with trust.

Its not our problem that we dont have a system they can interact with, we are in our native land....they need to adapt to what we have and speed our application approval process for a better andpositive outcomes.

Dont shade our character....blame the Americans for loosing touch with humanity.

This was a sad excuse for systematic corruption and ineptitude. It is impossible for you to ask Americans to ignore the disorganized chaos and lack of planning that our society reflects (in the name of it being our native land) while lecturing them to “speed our application approval process”. How do you want them to speed things up? By using google? It is not their fault too.

I don’t think Americans are too concerned about your native land, they simply want you to stay there. Why are you rushing to flood theirs?

Thank you my dear sister.

332,000 denials! It will be nice to know total number of new intakes for 2017 so we can get a peek into how badly US Embassy is screwing us, at 64000 naira per applicant!

The refusals alone is over 20billion naira per year. Thats just for non-immigrant. How about applications for immigrants, what does that report look like.

This is why im upset angry The refusals need to be far less than that. Nigeria ought to have a classification of "Preferred Magnet Area" for US visitors and immigrants.

No. Nigerians simply need to stop applying for United States visas, if they are that upset. No one is forcing you.

Saw an answer to the bolded queston?

In FY2017, a total of 332,003 US immigrant visas were refused; 218,470 of refusals (not necessarily the same ones - some might have been refusals from the prior years) were overcome in some way, usually by completing or updating the original application, and the visas were issued.

source: Quora forum by a former consular officer.

it would be nice if we can have for Non-immigrants too

Me i already decided am not going and told my CE friend to come to Nigeria. We decided when she is here then i will apply for US visa and we go together to my interview so she can speak phonetics with her people and get my visa.

LadyG, i need your knowledge here o. How can our CE friend get Nigerian visa in US? She lives in Maryland. Is there a Nigerian Embassy in Maryland and what does she need to take? Im going to send her an invite letter soon. Help me my sister. Thank you, Thank you. Thank you!

Americans place emphasis and value on a capitalist society. Go and review all different nations that go to America and compare with our 64000 application. Also, compare approval rates per 1000 applicants.

They are screwing us because instead of bring them to terms we continue to bend over to be impaled by their insulting disregard.

People like you add, faulting our character add to the problem.

when u compare the rate of approval also consider the rate of people that never return after traveling on B. They can't trust anyone working anywhere any longer. People have left various jobs, one woman dey complain of a Nigerian soldier that left her after papers, this dude enter U.S on B soldier for that matter, bank workers nko? Civil servants?. Another sets have booked till August. They have no choice than to keep denying people that they aren't convinced enough.

Before it was easy to differentiate between people who want to migrate or not with visa lottery, but since no visa lottery everyone is on B. When Visa lottery was still on South Africa or ghana na travel history now na story history. They know people want to migrate, if not when they tell u no to thier country u suppose no vex ontop na cheesy

They are not screwing us... the cost for a visa application is the same as we charge them. That’s the principle of reciprocity, I assumed everyone knew that.

They are not screwing us... we have a choice to refuse to apply for a visa.

We bend over because our country is not worth living in. That isn’t their fault.

Our character is why we are desperate to go to their country. Until we come to terms with that fact, we are never going to improve.

The idea that your N64,000 should guarantee you a visa is farcical. You should come take a look at your nigerian consulate in NY - which charges the same visa fee. The US consulate is like heaven compared to it.

I doubt that it's reciprocal.

The Nigerian embassy in the US charges American passport holders $180 with additional $20 for additional transactions for Nigerian visas...and yes some American passport holders have also been denied Nigerian visas.

Stop giving Christians a bad name.
You want to go for a church program and you are asking if you should lie? Like how serious are you right now?
OK let me answer you as a Christian, since that's the reason you are travelling.
Galatians: 6. 7- 8. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. -

I make as bold as to tell you , child of God, if you lie again, I'm you will be refused again.

Reciprocity my @$$!

What is the cost of living in Nigeria compared with US? What is their minimum wage compared to ours?

What we ought to have is a scale, not reciprocity. You dont get it!

Im supposed to be in bed next to my junior wife and enjoying paradise instead of arguing with you about US. If no be my friend sef that wanted to see me wetin concern me and America? Does their law allow me to practice polygamy, abi you think say I will abandon two juicy women in Nigeria, plus more additions in next few years, to go live in America with limitation to just one woman ?
