Please I had my interview on 26th March and my passport is still with the US embassy after tracking it. How many days or weeks does it take on average for the passport to be available for pickup after the interview?

Comparatively speaking, of what percentage when compared to the general pool of civil servants nation wide or even state wide? Will you be able to say in a conversation ;
Some civil servants are rich or
Most civil servants are rich

I don't think you can say the latter. We are talking about folks in the ministries and parastatals, Teachers and nurses in the government hospitals and the likes. How much is a permanent secretary's salary? If the Oga earns about 650k then how much will the others earn when we start going down the ranks.
We are talking about legal, accountable income not the ones with side hustles (which you also have to factor in civil service rules and ask if they are allowed to run those hustles)
Lady G, please do you or anyone here have an idea of how much a person working with state ministry of Justice earns?? Cos I heard they earn alot. How tru is this pls

Good Day My Good People, Pls Does A Self Employed Person Need To State A Monthly Salary In The Ds-160 Form Or Should He Leave The Column Blank Since His Income Only Depends On Anytime He Makes A Sale. This Is How It Is Stated In The Form; Monthly Salary In Local Currency (If Employed). I Will Appreciate All Your Good Response.

Combine every earnings and state it as one figure. Carry supporting evidence in case you are asked to explain.

One option is to search for flights to nearby airports, and evaluate the possibility on continuing by coach or local flights.

Flights to New York are usually reasonable, you may also want to look at this option too, and there are so many affordable connecting flights from LaGuardia airport.

For those in self employment, it's a good practice to place yourself on annual salary and earn dividends, bonuses etc after a successful year end. The totality becomes your total earnings.

To determine your monthly salary, simply divide your total earnings as described above, by 12. Your total earnings in the previous year can be ascertained, so you should use the figures obtained for this period.

If you have been discharging your tax responsibilities, your taxable income as stated on your tax clearance certificate can be divided by 12, to arrive at your average monthly income.

Why are you in a haste to respond to my post without comprehending it?

If you know that the person made money from DTAs etc, is that not explainable?

Again, I emphasize that US Embassy does not give visas to civil servants that have unexplained huge savings or properties.

Nawa ooooo so this means that those civil servant getting visa who are on less than 100k must be doing something different?

"Education Officer" is a position in the civil service and it's a Grade Level 08 job.

See this advert to be better informed:

The person that came here to seek for public opinion, has not contested what I wrote, so I don't understand why you're arguing on what you don't know.

Stay within the context of our discussion, this is a level 8 or at best level 9 civil servant that is sponsoring himself and not government. So the issue of DTA does not come in.

When I give opinion here, it is out of experience and a very rich one too.
And you think only your opinion should be accepted... I thought this is a public forum.

"Good schedule" or "juicy posting" does not bring significant extra income for civil servants, those that earn 3x their salary simply use their position for rent seeking.
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/rentseeking.asp

I can tell you from experience that a civil servant that diligently discharged his duties to the public, will hardly get 1% to say "thank you". However, there is great gain in Godliness with contentment.

Those that earn 3x of their salaries or more, would have created an environment forcing the public to part with money before rendering service. There is no other name for this behaviour but fraud.

Good morning guys,

I'm playing on traveling to the US later this year, I have been outside the country. I want to attend a media conference, I work in a media house and earn to 150k monthly, I have an account balance of 1.8 mil. I haven't booked for the conference yet.

Please I want to know the chances of getting a visa with a virgin passport. Someone told me to travel to dubia first before applying for US.

I was excited with the gift, and I enjoy reading, so I stuck with it but power no gree me continue.

Noooo, mba mba, I can vexx with US Embassy but these people here, Seye, Omobendel, LadyG, and many others are doing a GREAT service with their contributions on this thread and I can never ridicule their work, disrespect their positions (even if i disagree) or vex and leave in anger. My reason for leaving was self-cognition that my writings were counter in purpose to the theme of the thread. Im a critic of the US visa application process and believe it needs urgent but incremental improvements. That's not what this thread is for! I should start a thread for my call for improvements....but I dare not! It requires time dedication to grow and get traction. Time away from my junior wife....mmmmm, she will just kill me! cheesy cheesy cheesy

Greetings and respect to all the anchors on this thread, GOD bless your work!

How come you have unstamped or clean passport when you said you have travelled out of the country before?

Chances are not discussed on this forum, rather you should evaluate your ties to Nigeria. For example:
- how long have been working with this media outfit? The longer the period, the stronger tie it becomes.
- do you play significant roles in your office such as anchoring or writing period features etc?
- is your media well established?
In order words, the easier it is to abandon your job, the weaker this tie becomes. It is generally assumed that a rational person will not abandon a "good job" though not true in all cases.

Besides your job, you may have other ties which you need to identify and self evaluate.

I meant to say I have never traveled out of the country.

I have a significant role in my company, I'm a cameraman/video editor been working there for almost two years

My media is well establish and know across Nigeria (Online Media)

I'm currently running a Bsc program at the National open university, does this count as ties?

The conference I want to attend is for broadcast TV, radio, production, post production, news gathering, streaming, cable TV, satellite TV etc. It has everything to do with my current job.

Yes, it is a tie. Unfortunately, it does not look strong. Undergraduate studies can easily be abandon for "better prospects" in USA.
Only two years with this media outfit.

All you have listed are not learnt at conferences.

Save your 57k and consider travelling elsewhere to build some travel history, my candid opinion.

Cosade baba,
So tell me my brother. What is the significance of travel history being a counter-odd that a Nigerian on visiting visa to US will decline to return?

Ive seen this suggestion many times from different people, just never bothered to probe it till now.

Just take a chance and apply for the visa.
Some people had got their visas against all odds
So no one can tell you if you will be denied or not

Thanks for your reply, can you kindly give a few examples of strong ties.
As for the conference I didn't say I was to learn all those things, it's for people who are working in those fields.
As for the travel history you mentioned, in my understanding people still get denied visa regardless of how well they have traveled.
