Lol. Perhaps, we don't see the same pictures.
Like I said, Beyonce does that because she's an artiste and an entertainer. It is what her showbiz demands, that's why she's showing. Now, if you aren't into showbiz, why are you 'showing'? Lol.
You just strengthened my point. People who emulate entertainers and dress like shit even at their weddings, are they all trying to be entertainers? Averagely, people now dress like they see their celebrity role models dress even in settings where that kind of dress isn't appropriate.
Like Safiaa said, class is relative. Cardi B might also be some people's definition of class. grin

Well, we have different classes too. And, some people are just gutter class.
I completely get what you’re saying. Using celebrities as an example completely misses the point. It’s their brand to be sexy. At all times, even. Their sex appeal is all apart if their image, they need this to sell records. They need to dress in that manner to appeal to their male audience. They make profit off this, but this doesn’t apply to everyday people. You aren’t branded to dress half naked walking down the regular streets. Emulating celebrities is just not a good idea, because you gain nothing from it.

grin grin So I had to crosscheck the meaning of 'Classy' to see if it's definition has changed.

Here's the dictionary meaning of Classy! I'm honestly lost here.
I don't see the meaning you posted. Please, repost and kindly post what class itself means.

What I'm trying to say here is; class is relative. That's what I pointed out to you when I quoted you.

You cannot compare a royal wedding to a normal wedding. Folorunsho Alakija's son's wedding, the lady used heavy makeup and her gown most especially her reception gown exposed skin. But that was an equally classy wedding.

Meghan would've used makeup and expose skin but she didn't because that is their rule in royalty.
So my dear, let's say exposing skin, wearing lashes, fixing nails and blah blah was allowed in royal weddings. And Meghan did it all, will you say that wedding was classless?

Class is a subjective term

it can be used to describe a person's character or a person's sense of style, it can even be used to describe how a person eats.

In context of ops essay, the op sees class as dressing in a simple, sophisticated yet elegant manner. I.e. the wedding dressing style of the new addition to the British royal family and her guests. I get where the op is coming from, even though I don't necessarily like her example

I also understand those that see class as good character and other attributes, They believe class is beyond what is outside or what we wear and frankly I am with them

That is urban dictionary.

Other dictionaries have different meaning

I believe the fact that the word is an adjective used to qualify another word makes it take the form of a chameleon cheesy

For example, your typing fonts is classy

You behavior is classy

Your dress is classy

I hope I not writing nonsense sha

Your last part, ditto. The royals won't accept it because they have what's expected of their class and that's the point. The royals are everyday people, the difference is just that they are in power. So, as an everyday person...why should you dress like a celeb who has an image to sell?
You keep missing the point, dear. Btw, why are you making this about make-up only? That wasn't the only point I touched on. In fact, decency and modesty was the main point. Why don't you touch on that?
Did dangote's daughter dress overboard? Was her make-up overboard? Was her breast popping out?

@Embolden, you are right, that was why I made my first comment on this thread concerning her inferiority complex. But due to the fact she stole the article, she couldn't understand me. grin grin

Not making up is class, which means Dangote's daughter isn't classy.

Dress morally is class...which means Nikki Minaj isn't classy.

OP too foolish abeg grin
Classy is subjective. I’m going to speak for myself. When I think of classy I think elegant, sophisticated and proper. When i think of those words, I don’t think excess makeup to the point where my eyelashes are floating in the air, and my eyebrows look like eagle wings. When I think classy I don’t think bum shorts and and revealing tops. If you constantly carry yourself in a way that differs from classy then yes you cannot put yourself in the classy catergory. Nicki Minaj is not classy to me. Her brand revolves around sex appeal and being raunchy. From her lyrics to her dressing, this is what she has branded herself to be. She’s an entertainer and that’s who she is. Dangote daughter wearing excessive makeup on her wedding day, may not exude classy to some people. Although I think classy focuses more on your persona/dressing, Mariine is entitled to have her opinion. Not everyday fight fight. Jesus!

Now, it means a dress can be classy, shoes can be classy and other material things.
But, how would YOU define an individual who is classy?

Lol, I asked what if they allow it? Does that make the lady classless? Using heavy makeup and wearing clothes that shows skin doesn't make you classless. That has been my point since. Class is relative and subjective.

I'll fix my nails and have multiple ear piercings dear, it doesn't stop me from being classy. And I'm a royal everyday person.

I've also been mentioning clothes that expose skin. I bought up Beyonce as an example. Even nicki and Rihanna remember?

That's why I'm telling you Dangote's wedding would be a better point to buttress your point. Especially of you're not against heavy makeup. Don't compare royalty with normal weddings. If I'm going to a royal wedding I can wear my Mary amaka classy. Because it's royalty and it demands it. If it's your wedding, I'll wear anything I wish because na just wedding.

Exactly!

A closer look into the Urban dictionary you will notice some contradictions!

"You can walk classy, talk classy but true class....... blah blah blah.. And I begin to wonder if there is 'class' and 'true class'

Anyways to me class is about comportment and grace! It is an inner thing smiley

Yes. But speaking for everyday people, how you dress is normally a reflection of who you are. Yes we know they’re exceptions to everything, and we know they’re virgin amaka dressers that are “whores” on the inside. But majorly speaking, what goes on in the head of someone who wears bum shorts with a very revealing top? What is the aim? Your thoughts are normally a reflection on how you dress. 80% the time.
