TSOM:

So, basically, there are different rules for different females and a female can get excuse if she portrays herself as primarily a sexual object as long as it favours her. It's alright to be slutty as long as you benefit from it, yes?

It's alright for me to leer at a female who projects herself as a sexual object if it futhers her cause?

Adele doesn't dress slutty. There are several other females who don't project themselves as sexual objects and are still famous and successful as can be.

Ayana Curry is the wife of multiple time NBA MVP, Steph Curry and she's a celebrity in her own right with a voice...and she never dresses as a slut.

When you, a female, creates different rules for different females just to advance your own agenda then it leaves much to be desired.

So much for equality. So much for equality treatment.
I never said it’s okay to dress slutty. I’m not an advocate for that at all. I’m simply saying there’s a reason behind why they (celebrities) HAVE to dress in that nature, to sell records. I’m not saying it’s okay, but that is a part of their brand. The likes of Adele, Whitney Houston and these great singers, if you understood the music industry you would know why they don’t need to be sexy to sell records. Their voices alone carry the weight of their success, whereas Beyoncé, Rihanna and the likes need that added sex appeal to get on their level.

Now tell me how this relates to everyday people? You people need to be more realistic when it comes to your arguments. I don’t understand how comparing tinuke from balogun street to Rihanna and Beyoncé is even practical? I mean in this context, it just doesn’t make sense.

If you have a free mind, you'll rarely get into a fight with someone. That's the truth.

I asked her a simple question "Who is a classy lady". She couldn't attempt that, had it being she gave a definition, it would have helped me agree to her point just like you did. But she didn't. cheesy cheesy

Why? Because she was looking for an avenue to insult me just like RuthDaniels did grin

Them go die on top my matter one day grin

A smart lady will definitely manipulate a man from being insulted, but the dumb and foolish ones will keep throwing insult to form tough while they are emotionally down at the moment.

Mariinee:
Ever since the world witnessed the joining together of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in solemn matrimony at the Royal wedding, I have been meaning to write a piece on the wedding. Anyone reading this right now would probably think this article is meant to discuss the fairytale love of Meghan and Harry, but; no, it’s not. The royal wedding was truly grand and perhaps, the world had never seen something like it. But, in watching clips of the wedding; what actually caught my eyes wasn’t the grandness of the wedding itself. What caught my eyes were the dresses of the bride and the female guests at the wedding. If an average person here in Nigeria is going to describe Meghan’s wedding dress, then the person would probably describe it as “simple and plain”. Left to me though, I would say the dress was exquisite; and so were the dresses of the female guests at the wedding.

However, this article isn’t about the exquisiteness of Meghan’s dress. Rather, it’s about the modesty and simplicity in her dress and the make-up. In all honesty, I was amazed when I saw pictures of the bride and how simple, yet sweet she looked. She didn't have to use so much make-up and her dress barely show any skin ot isn't supposed to show. And, this made me run to the search engine to find out why she would prefer to dress so simply on her wedding day! Guess what? I found an article that explained all the dos and don’ts of the royal family and it pretty much explained why she was dressed like that. Apparently, the royal family bans the use of fake nails, certain nail polishes, fake lashes, excessive make-up and specific type of dressing. Why? Because things like these are meant for classless people and the royal family is an embodiment of class. I was awed by this, seriously and this prompted me to write this article.

Almost every weekday and Saturdays especially, one or two stories and pictures of someone’s wedding or pre-wedding photo shoot hits Nairaland front page and one thing these posts always seem to be championing is Immorality and Indecency. Sometimes, it’s a man grabbing his woman’s butt; other times, the doggy pose is used by the couples in their shoot. Even at the weddings, it always looks like the female guests and the bride are competing for a display on “Who can bare the most body parts?” Boobs popping out like they need attention badly and make-up looking like the person is saving paints to use for her future house on her face. Don’t even get me started on the lashes! Some people’s lashes make them look like they were supposed to be created as Jinns but God changed his mind. And the nails, I don’t even know what to describe the nails with! But, why do people do this? Because, they are “civilized and modern”

Nigerians nowadays and maybe Africans think civilization and modernization is all about going nude in the name of fashion, having their trousers below their butts in the name of swagger, painting the hair all sorts of color in the name of trendy (BBNaija’s Alex comes to mind) or even baking their faces up with tons of foundation, powder and whatever else they paint on their faces in the name of make-up. And, this is because the American rappers and models they see on TV are their role models. But, what you do not know is that these rappers and models are the dregs and gutter-rats of the state. If you have watched the series “Empire”, you would understand better how they view these sorts of people even in the States. But no, all Nigerians want to do is watch movies, get some silly fashion tips and be entertained. They always fail to see the point or lesson of the plot.

One thing you should know and keep in mind is that; swag can be class. You don’t have to be dressed like a dreg to show your “swagga” and, you don’t have to pop out all those God-given assets in the name of fashion. You don’t have to hide your face behind a bucket of make-up before you look beautiful and, you don’t have to carry ridiculous hairstyles because one model in America carried it. You can be classy without being immoral. Dressing immorally and indecently only makes you a gutter-rat like the people you see as role models.

Be classy and decent because, our culture is classy and decent. Be a royal, don’t be a gutter-rat.

I never said it’s okay to dress slutty. I’m not an advocate for that at all. I’m simply saying there’s a reason behind why they (celebrities) HAVE to dress in that nature, to sell records.
There's a reason why Young Thug, Miguel and Future constantly call all women "bitchés" and "hoés" - it's because it appeals to their sexist audiences. Basically, they can justify it.

But is the sexist sweeping generalization alright? We both know the answer to that.

Wrong. Adele's voice isn't necessarily better than Beyoncé's.

Sia and Rihanna have almost the same voice but ,while Sia keeps her clothes on, Rihanna goes nude at every opportunity - they are both successful still.

Nothing explains away being slutty. There should be the same set of rules for every one.

Now tell me how this relates to everyday people? You people need to be more realistic when it comes to your arguments. I don’t understand how comparing tinuke from balogun street to Rihanna and Beyoncé is even practical? I mean in this context, it just doesn’t make sense.
Oh, it does; as sure as sunset, it sure does.

What Tinuke from Balogun Street learns from her sexpot role models is, ' I have to sell my body, use my sexual appeal to boost my chances. My talent or the lack of it nonetheless.'
'I have to give in to the perverted cravings of men who want to see my unclothedness or half-clothness 'cause in doing so I get what I also want - popularity and favours.'

That, Safiaa, is why our beloved Tinuke from Balogun Street would keep uploading pictures of her butts and cleavage on Instagram just to get attention even though she can get the same attention with her showcasing of baking skills.

It doesn't matter anyway. According to Safiaa, she needs to project the sex appeal to sell. smiley
