With all these replies, no one has really said something tangible. Nairalanders, must you always joke with everything? Op, my advice to you is that you shouldn't buy to impress them. Instead get them what you can afford. Because if you get them expensive items now, they will always expect expensive things from you in the nearest future. That is if you would even be accepted by them.

A bottle of brandy for the father and 5k envelope for the mother or a bottle of brandy and bottle of wine for the family... both options depends on the financial position of the family.

Don't show too much money if you don't have it, don't raise their hope too high.
Also weigh the family well financially. If they are wealthy or ok, just play the good son in-law card, if they are not, show them you can
