RiyadhGoddess: It's not as bad as people are making it seem. The problem most people have is they dont want to pay for services. In the US, even individuals pay accountants to help them with their taxes. The thing the tax authorities like here the most is actually an ignorant person, if you fall mugu ones, then that tax office will use you and meet target. Another mistake is actually bribing them, if you do, they become more ludicrous. 1 Like |

[quote author=Lakeside79 post=68116528] What happened to.konga ? Sim Shagaya sef done self off most of his shares , alot of people.here be talking of being your own boss and a laugh The only business advisable in Nigeria is all those internet based business which can't be taxed Do you think obasanjo oays taxes the way a young youth who takes a loan to start a farm will pay taxes ? I look at those pro Nigerian enthusiasts and I laugh again, these are people who have no means of leaving.nugeria hence they attack the notion of relocating . An evonomy like Nigeria managed by people who have no sound economic Strategic background cannot work So many companies you think are still operating have gone under or have merged to survive and even after the merger are struggling to survive Sage , ACCA are not.Nigerian companies and repartriate their earnings even at that they are struggling Nigeria is a failed state and thus shouldn't be marketed as anything else period! Why do you think despite all the government propaganda investors are not biting ? They are privy to real statistics not the APC orddked garbage They known there's no point investing The Chinese companies remain because they use substandard parrts to make phones and sell and twice the production cists to you. Phones they know they can't sell anywhere else in the world due to the low quality parts they use in the phones so companies like transsion that owns tecni and Infinix can durvive But what happens when people can't eat talkless of afford phones again,? Now you see why they are focusing on Kenya alot now? ; If you can relocate forget Nigeria I mean even my firends fellow cooled who both had good jobs I mean husband working in Exxon while wife works in abnking have all relocated . Talkless of in bachelor earning 400k.eill say he wants to remain in Nigeria ? I just laugh at ignorance[/quote You have a point but I would never be an extremist like you relocate but pray for a better government no matter how good u are as a black man there is a limit to where you fit reach you are the least respected ethnic group if you are earning 200k monthly and somethings dey work for you no relocate oh people dey here dey do security dey wash toilets dey are depressed as f.... adetoroamos:Sorry bro. To solve your phcn issue, just close eye and buy a prepaid meter. That was the advise i was given and am glad i took it. I got mine for 20000 naira in Port Harcourt and i have peace. If I recharge 2000 naira, i use it d whole month (though, i don't run AC for long hours, only when i have special customers..lol).That's how i manage my life, else you will just be getting annoying phcn bill. Commercial tariff is higher, and estimated bill is always too outrageous . They cut the light of most of my shop neighbors. Some dey owe up to 200k.Imagine giving a tailor bill of 64000 for one month. He only has sewing machines, small tv and dvd. It's not like me that has a lot of energy sucking appliances (Dispenser, Ac, tv, stabilizers, hair straightener /curler etc). He is regretting not buying meter when i got mine. The issue can be annoying, but with prepaid meter you will have small peace of mind. 6 Likes |

Your shop rent is even cheap, that's some people's monthly rent here in Port Harcourt. Most shops go for at least 15000 monthly. 5 Likes |

erico2k2: Bros, you can do business in Nigeria and actually pay very little if you do the right thing. Yes our own tax rate is high at 30%, but I'm sure you've heard of tax planning before. If it's so bad, how come people are actually getting richer while doing business in Nigeria. Do you know you can actually settle most issues with just a letter? |

RiyadhGoddess:Lol @ To dey wash bathroom and toilet no easy at all. Stay where u dey o.. Uhmm! Nigeria will frustrate your efforts to run a business. I know that first hand. Personally i don't pay tax. My business name is registered, but i don't even have a corporate account. I don't like stress at all biko. Even P. O. S, i no do o. My customers do bank transfer to me.My saving grace is that my shop is in a Police Officer's wives association plaza. Nobody like council or local government comes there to bill us. Even signboard fees people usually pay, i didn't pay a dime because that plaza has immunity from such bills. Since i paid my rent, the only thing i do is just buy my phed unit of N2000, do gotv subscription N1900 and am good to go for the month. Another thing that helps is to buy a prepaid meter. A nepa staff that buys hair from me gave me that advice. Those that are waiting for free one have already incurred bill that's times two or more of what they wud av used in buying a meter. I got mine 20000 and i thank God daily because nothing concerns me and phed again. If I exhaust my unit and decide to stay in darkness, nobody would harass me. Just do your due diligence well before moving to Nigeria to set up a business, it's just God that has been favoring me so far. 2 Likes |

The only business you can open in Nigeria and be quite successful is Church business. It's tax free and attracts sympathy from the people. 3 Likes |
