God bless you .
at first when the big cash comes , you will feel on top of the world , ppl will be hailing you but laughing at your back because they know that soon things go fall, when the naija factor starts showing up its colors , all the funds you think were big will vanish like flames . the only exception to this are the artisans , because they actually use the clients money to do the job all they provide is just their skills

Process documents with the money and relocate sharply, you will be better off !

It's truely not easy running a biz In this country. There is so much multiple taxation. This is why I feel like stumping on anyone shouting "be your own boss". As if it's easy

Don't.fall for the mirage painted about Nigeria , Nigeria is a broken country

I understand your pain my brother, SME doesn't have good scheme to survive the growth curve in this country .
Start anything new and the bills will knock you off back to starting point.
But keep pushing bro, once you break through the curve, you are good to go.

Onatisi i'm really really surprised ooo, no be you open one thread like that about earning 400k and traveling out, how far wetin make you change.
Baba, thank God that you noticed i have changed , i was once a fanatic over zealous supporter of people staying in nigeria and investing their travel funds in nigeria. but when naija showed me its true color , dem no dey teach person before i packed my bags , i am not ashamed to say it that i wasted funds trying to believe in nigeria and there are many people like me too.
now i keep telling people , if you have the chance of leaving naija , leave the place . except maybe if you have a very very good job of about 200k a month or above then it is worth it to stay

Nigeria is a mirage painted to deceive people , there is nothing like built from scrscth and.works without the following

1. Foreign.investment
2. Political.money that is always huge and can be spent anyhow
3. Government connection so you don't have to pay tax for years till you want to

Ask companies like jobberman where they are today ... Today jobberman Alexa ranking has fallen so low , advert revenues have almost dried up the three young founders have sold off most of their shares since Seek pulled out most of their funding , in know those three personally and I can tell you that they are all wishing they sold off the company back then when seek offered big money for a larger staike , even whogohot owned by opeyemi is not finding it easy

Nigeria is a dead country .. if you are fortunate to earn some large cash please please please resist the temptation to start living so called normal.life , because whatever you think you live is just an average life compared to if you relocate

The problem right there...

Nigerians are so used to cutting corners and using bogus means to get thru. No wonder we're so under-developed. undecided

This is not encouraging at all. I'm planning to come to Nigeria to invest come November 2018 and all this tax things I'm hearing about is really scaring me. I saw iyabo ojo's rants on tax. I remembered one woman who operates a fast food also complained bitterly. The comments I read online are so scaring. Federal govt tax, state tax, local govt tax, phcn, association, town council etc. Abeg how much be the profit wey person go they pay all this heavy tax? How would one pay salaries after tax deduction? What about the rent?
All these are scaring and not an encouragement to small business owners.

Please I want to ask, what's the way out? My question is for those that have successfully managed a business for years. How have you been able to cope with all these charges abi tax? Can these charges be reduced or negotiated?

I don't want to waste money and then go back and start from the scratch again o. To dey wash bathroom and toilet no easy at all.
If Nigeria is not opened for small business owners, it's better I remain where I am and look for a home base business to do or better still gather all my earnings and relocate to canada than to come to Nigeria and dash govt and her associates all my earnings.

Thank GOD you left, the thing some peeps do not know is that, we are all product of Migration and so far we are human we are bound to migrate, though it not a must we do but if we must, we should lay down a good plan and come with alternatives, we must not decide we are traveling without having a purpose.
In any decision we make, we shall all succeed,.

U are even old self. shocked shocked[if the right infrastructures were available, nobody would complain about paying tax....u go still buy fuel for generator, naija is the only country that collect fees for assisting d country by employing people...other countries like US give back to those companies for employing....roads are messed up,security, bank interest rates crazy, import tarrif. .baba business in naija na one chance]

Nigerians like to evade taxes and which countries that don’t pay tax . In Australia i do business and I paid 27 percent in taxes but if work I will pay 48 percent. Why you are shouting ?

Oga, try understand the woman. If you have ever run a business in Nigeria, you would know what they call double taxation. You are paying 27% in Australia, but in Nigeria, by the time you calculate all the taxes, you discover that you are paying more than 50% of your income as tax. If you doubt this, ask people who have done business in Nigeria before.

No one is saying they should not tax businesses, but double taxation is what people are kicking against.

What happened to.konga ? Sim Shagaya sef done self off most of his shares , alot of people.here be talking of being your own boss and a laugh

The only business advisable in Nigeria is all those internet based business which can't be taxed

Do you think obasanjo oays taxes the way a young youth who takes a loan to start a farm will pay taxes ?

I look at those pro Nigerian enthusiasts and I laugh again, these are people who have no means of leaving.nugeria hence they attack the notion of relocating .

An evonomy like Nigeria managed by people who have no sound economic Strategic background cannot work
So many companies you think are still operating have gone under or have merged to survive and even after the merger are struggling to survive

Sage , ACCA are not.Nigerian companies and repartriate their earnings even at that they are struggling

Nigeria is a failed state and thus shouldn't be marketed as anything else period!

Why do you think despite all the government propaganda investors are not biting ? They are privy to real statistics not the APC orddked garbage

They known there's no point investing

The Chinese companies remain because they use substandard parrts to make phones and sell and twice the production cists to you. Phones they know they can't sell anywhere else in the world due to the low quality parts they use in the phones so companies like transsion that owns tecni and Infinix can durvive
But what happens when people can't eat talkless of afford phones again,? Now you see why they are focusing on Kenya alot now?

;
If you can relocate forget Nigeria

I mean even my friends a couple who both had good jobs I mean husband working in Exxon while wife works in banking have all relocated .

Talkless of in bachelor earning 400k.will say he wants to remain in Nigeria ? I just laugh at ignorance

It's really sad even contractors....the amount they are being taxed by the FIRS, banks is huge.... even where the contract is being executed, one has to settle the bosses...at the end of the day, what's left for the contractor.

you see , yours is just one of the numerous stories and all these things are highly frustrating , now you see many young nigerians around the ages of 30-40 already looking like 60years old , some have already developed hypertension and high blood pressure all these coupled with family domestic matters . now tell me why ppl no go jump into lagoon daily . some men just run away from home when th debts and pressure become too much and theikr only sin was in believing in Nigeria an trying to make her great again

yes but the amenities are there, if you are paying high for bills and getting service then no problem . go to ghana almost every business is on power , vulcanizers, pepper grinding machines and many small scale businesses , the light bill is high and people are taxed but no one is complaining because you can open for 24hrs if you like , fuel is very very expensive but noone is complaining because at least you are getting small small money to pay ur bus fares . IF A SYSTEM IS WORKING ,AUTOMATICALLY EVERYTHING TAKES SHAPE .

indians and chinese have studied the nigeria economy , they just bring in about 15 containers of goods , place an advert in the dailies for "marketing executives ' , offer them commission based payment, and in a nation where unemployment is high they even get more than enough job applications , they employ and give the new intakes high targets to meet monthly , that is all.
