Some time in 2010 I think someone met me at my junction asking for directions to a church. He had a bike.He claimed there's a popular herbalist that's good in tying and fixing broken bones. Then there was another guy just passing by. That one convinced me to take him there since I knew the area. On our way when we got to the area, he claimed that he had a snake diamond and it was worth millions. The other dude said oh he knows that area where the herbalist resides and he didn't know he was talking about that particular guy. I said okay since you know the place just take him there I have done my bit. The other guy insisted please I would like to reward you for your time and everything if I sell it off I want to give you something. I was very young not even 18 at the time so I followed. Then we got there, the herbalist put the snake diamond stuff in a bowl saying he wants to confirm if it's legit. Then it changed to several 1k clean notes. The herbalist then said he will call a popular rich man who needs it to come pay for it and collect it. I don't remember what happened but they started requesting money. I didn't have to give. At the end of the day the said not to tell anybody anything and just go else I'll die.
Fast forward some years later my roommate in school fell for the same prank and emptied his mother's account and gave them 80k. This was a final year student at the time

A good friend of mine lost his well paid job as a cashier to these fraudsters some years ago. This should be in 1999/2000 when he was scammed of nearly 250000,money meant for workers salary.

Word, OP.

There's also another scam I've been told about and also experienced.

It works best when you're wearing a sandal. A young guy would approach you to tell you you aren't putting on the Sandals well. He'd further say that the way you are wearing it may spoil it. Now when this was happening to me I didn't dismiss the nigga immediately. Indeed I was experiencing a certain pain in my foot from the Sandals. "Maybe I wasn't wearing it well I thought".

The best thing to do in this situation is to dismiss them. Be very harsh. Raise an alarm if possible.

But if you don't they'd keep on commenting on your Sandals. The guy would later say he makes sandals and he can help you readjust it so it won't spoil. At this point you should really really tell him off.

But if you don't, and you shrug and let him come to adjust your Sandals, he'd ask you to see him. Then he'd be readjusting your foot sort of. At this point all your concentration is on your foot and what exactly the guy would do.

Alas! What's really happening is as you bend, he's dipping his hands into your pocket and you'd be in a position where you won't feel it. Maybe they use Jarz I don't know.

When it was happening to me I let the nigga have a go at my foot. I wanted to see how exactly it worked. He kept on readjusting my foot and telling me to bend down, but my eyes were on my trouser pockets.

He was lucky he got away with a knock from me. Had I seen the policeman at the bend of the street I'd have handed him over.

Bottom line: Y'all have to be wise in the street of Lagos.

Lol, tell the truth.. he got away with ur money grin grin

That number 2 happened to me like last year or so. This guy came to me speaking with a french accent saying he is a stranger in lagos and he's looking for saint Mary's church. I told him the one i knew was at isolo. He said i should help take him there that he will pay me in dollars. My brain don dey ring already o. Na so one bike man just show from nowhere. He asked what was going on and told him the foreigner was looking for st Mary's church. He said he knows the place and that we should help take him there. That's when my eyes opened. From where i was at that particular time to the particalur church was like from oshodi to maryland. Imagine taking a bike to such distance! Omo na so i wise tell them say i no fit follow them. Say them send me message. They started begging me but i was adamant. I watched them go. Later later o i kon jam this 'foreigner' for my area, i ask around kon hear say na confam ibo boy. Omo i just laff

Old trick..

If you are greedy you will definitely fall for this.

..

It can only happened to a greedy person. It happened to a lady I was dating back then in the university. She returned from school and started behaving abnormally. I asked her, but she kept her mute. 2 days after by way of boast she told me how rich she will become from that day. I was curious, I used diplomacy to make her speak. She told me almost this story. That on her way to school few days ago she met a man who told her he's d son of a former president of one of these African country. That he deals on electronics, that he came in with a lot of goods through Lagos but d custom intercepted d goods and took him to Abuja. That while in Abuja where he lodged, he was drugged and everything taken away from him and he is left with nothing. She assisted d man wid what she had. As she left d second person approached her and inquired what d man said and she xplained. She followed them to some where. She almost finished money at home. She demanded for money I gave her unknown to me she gave same to them, she only told me d story bc I refused to give her more money untill she justfy what she's doing with d money. That's how she told me this story and I told her she is a victim of 419 but she wouldn't listen rather she accused me of being enermy of progress. To prove to her it was a scam, I told her to call them and told them u have a friend that is a senior officer in Lagos, he can be of help. She called but they warned her not to inform any one but rather demanded she should go meet them. I warned her not to make an insh. But she refused and went without my knowledge. The address given to her at airport road was non existence yet she was stubborned. When I realized she was not at home, I called her line, she told me she is already in d vehicle to meet them. By this time it was already 5:pm. I was calling her till she got to d direction but suddenly, her line went off as if it was snatched from her. I was so agitated. Her line was not on till d following day at about 3pm after I had lodge a complain of a missing person. Till date, I never knew what exactly happened. Only that she could not meet them and she had a low battery and was stranded. Honestly people need to learn.

Lemme say my own story..... I was coming back during my IT those days at oshodi when it was still rowdy A guy came to meet me that he just came from port Novo that he came with foreign currency and want to change it to naira that he doesn't know calculation that I shd Pls come n help him so they wont cheat him... That he ll give me big share of the money, during his speech I kept moving n never said a word (I was meditating on lessons my parent taught me about kidnappers n strangers that I ll reply I ll be hypnotised) when I figured he wasn't going to stop following I shouted at him that: if you don't leave me now I ll shout on you... He immediately left

Hahahaha Format 3 happened to me at Warri,

NPA Expressway precisely, few years back. I boarded a cap to drop along. Just after the Refinery Overhead bridge towards Nigercat the taxi dropped a woman, left in the car is the driver, a passenger sitted at the front seat, a woman clutching a bag and myself. The drama begun, driver asked why the last passenger didn't pick the traveling bag in the booth, woman sitting beside me said it's her bag, driver accosted her threatening to expose her if she doesn't tell the truth as he claimed he saw part of the contents through a torn part of the bag. She narrated a long confessional story of how her ritualist boss just died, they (domestic staff) broke into a secret room and she's making away with$1.5M in the bag. Our other passenger now started contributing as to how/what to do. Lastly they all agreed to go somewhere secluded to share the money, at that point I had reached my destination and to their surprise I chosed to drop rather than follow them to share the largess. Come see provocation, they shouted at me to quickly comot for the car say I be mumu wey no like better things. Na so I kukuma drop O!

Other near instances still in same Warri didn't advanced to long stories as I immediately dropped when I sensed the drama will start. Hmmmm this hustling eh!
