I always wanted a first class, but
I decided to check my result yesterday only to see F parallel and some good grades out of 10 courses.
Pls am 22 and I need to pass so I can get a good job after graduation.
I know I didn't give my books much attention this semester.

I am confused because I will be asked to withdraw if I get a cgpa less than 2.0 on a scale of 5 after second semester and don't meet the 10-8-8 requirement which I am very far from.


CAN I GRADUATE WITH A FIRST CLASS STILL?

Most of the time in my school, carry over students don't get A or B. The best they can get is a C or let my people go.
Unfortunately that's the kinda lecturers in that school.

I am close to certain you are not a first class material, i would have said you should chase a 2-1 , but i think the issue is more worse than i thought, sorry if i hurt you with my writing, you DONT have the fire to do well in that dept. how do i know? i saw your comments on the first page about you doing better than some people , even though you had a 0.2/5.... That tells me all i needed to know about you. YOU GOT NO FIRE OR deep PASSION in you to do well. Your mentality is terribly weak. Your aptitude and more worrying your attitude is weak. If you can change dept to a less demanding dept. DO THAT NOW..... Once you change dept. you will have to qwork on your ATTITUDE.

But if you really want a first class, I'll suggest you sit for jamb again or better still stay and work hard you might get a 2.1

If by the end of second semester your gpa is still very low, dont waste your time in MEE department. Change your department and start afresh from 200l in another department before it's too late .

they won't even accept her, that's the issue. in Futminna CGPA of 0.99 after 100 level, you are going home.
Not having at least 10 8 8 out of the 12 10 10 credit load of MAT, CHM and PHY, you are leaving Engineering.
to be blunt with the truth, I don't think she'd make it with that 0.2(gosh!)
this second semester is even a bit tougher with calculus and organic chemistry ..
I just pray she do extremely well this semester for her own good

100 level is not even Engineering yet, they offer same courses with School of Pure Sciences, Engineering starts 200level. The exams are even CBT multiple choice so she having 0.2 means her destiny may not be science inclined.. but what do I know?

Futminna has one of the best chemical engineering departments in Nigeria therefore you have a lot of opportunities to learn from high quality lecturers, but u must work very very hard. Make sure you understand what you are being taught and solve as much past questions as possible. There are opportunities for chemical engineers but not so much to be honest due to the nature of the Nigerian economy. Nevertheless, there is always room for excellent people. When I say excellent people, I don’t mean 1st class graduates who just cram to pass but people irrespective of their class of degree who actually understand chemical engineering.

In your first year, the key is to be familiar with as may past questions as possible. If possible, cram the key formulas and equations, and also as far as possible, cram the answers because lecturers could be very economical and unrealistic with time allocation. But whether you cram or not, make sure you understand what you cram. Anything you refuse to understand now will haunt you in future until you take out time to understand it

0.2 GPA, then CGPA will be way less than that. 1st class? No but if you avoid distractions you can still graduate a 2.1.

BTW, 204 jamb result is not what 1st class students score.

My dear, I do not know the CGPA of your school, but I'll give you a candid advice. The only way you can still stay in that school and get at least a second class, is managing your time, lay off partying, lay off being classy in school, what you need now is the most attention in your books, and the friends you mingle with(because these category also helps in your success)... And if you have all this you'll have solved the issue 99.9 percent. And another thing their skills you could get aside from your degree when your done, to supplement your profile, so that you can become a hot cake... That's also called investment of time.

I stay in Minna. I have a friend who graduated from that department with a first. His lil sister just finished serving and graduated with a very high 2:1.

You need to be very serious to pull a 2:1 off. Ignore those who told you to re-sit for JAMB. A first class is not a guarantee that you'll make it in life. The labour market is a different ball game altogether.

If you would like my friend's sister to maybe serve as a guide or a mentor, indicate interest by saying it. But know that if you do and I plead with her to assist you academically, you must be willing to give you all to it. If you know you won't be able to, then don't bother.
