4 End all relationships
5 Attend all lectures and make sure you understand every topic even if it means staying back after classes
6 Do all assignments, projects, term papers etc
7 Read at least 6hrs everyday
8 when you are writing an exam; aspire for A's, accept B's and manage C's. Any other grade don't exist for you apart from those

Amakababe, this one get as it be. For you to get that GP means any of the following:
1) Laziness or unseriousness.
2) personal problems eg. Brain being affected(smoking weed, doing hard drugs, drinking alcohol, online pornography and masturbation, abusing painkillers etc.), side hustle due financial hardness which may affect your schedule and give you little time for rest etc.

NB: Scoring 204 in jamb doesn't prove anything. It's not a great score for someone who wants to score first class in engineering and graduating with a first class doesn't mean that you will get a job. This is Nigeria.

If your problem is (1), you have to spend more time on your studies, work smart and spend all your energy and time on your studies. Don't set your mind on first class rather look to giving your best at any up coming test or exam.

Nobody is dull it depends on how hard u really works. U hv to dedicate 80% of time to ur studies, interact more with the serious crew and learn how dey do it and how they plan their time and make one dat suits u. The right company will affect ur performance level. Know wat u want and go for it.

Aim for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

I always tell those who cares to listen, the first year is very very important, the second is important till you finish but the first year is very very very important.

If you joke with it then it will be hard to catch up with the following years.

Create a create your own personal time table, always read, don't wait till it's 1month of few weeks to exam.

Mingle with the best brains in your department, form a reading group with people that are very serious.

You need to first of all change any bad perception about any subject, and always keep a positive attitude.

find a suitable time to read, stay away from alcohol anytime u want to read, make sure u get enough rest before reading, stop drinking garri and finally read ahead of time, don't wait till its 1 week before exam, because u will be under pressure and won't understand anything

My dear you were misinformed. They gave you a very bad orientation. Achieving a good grade at the end of final year starts from 1st semester 100 Level.
Honestly I'll advise you to change your course to other department before they issue you a withdrawal P from MEE. Your first semester GPA is an Indication that you'll not be able to cope with the demands of the course.

O.p though u started very poor like poor.
Ur chances for 1st class is 0.0% unto the beginning.you can come out with something good, nor be by first class good job dey use come. You really have to sit tight, if ur friends are not of help to you change dem too. I had similar experience though but my g.p nor bad like this your own shall but i told myself it can end like this, and i came out well. You too can do same na jst self improvement and less of fun.

Please don't compare yourself with failure.
I will advise you to sit up. Mind the kind of friends you hang around with.
Make up your mind to graduate with a 2:1, this will help you psychologically as first class is out of reach.

You should also make friend with the brilliant students in the class. beg them to teach you. Attend tutorials and most Importantly , study yourself and know when best you assimilate

Its not too late to do something. Start studying immediately. Meet your seniors in that department. Ask them the pattern of each lecturer handling your second semester courses. Say no to distractions like your friends who are not in the same shoes with you. Consult past questions and study with them. Use your time judiciously. Come up with a time table for private study especially with the brilliant students in your department. Forget about first class for now. Fix your GP then later you can fire for that. Finally, kneel down, ask God to give you wisdom, for he is the giver of all wisdom. Use In Jn 14:13-14. God will surely answer you. You will succeed. God bless you.

Firstly if you get 5.0 gpa for the remaining 9 semesters your cumulative can still be in the 4.5 range
There are two approaches you can take but you must have a extra year by all means
1) Take a leave of absence from the school for your second semester, but attend some of your future lectures, tutorials and get a serious understanding of both the past and future courses, then retake your in the new session, this way you will avoid being ask to withdraw and jerking up your go.
2) register only for your electives in the second semester and retake your courses in the new session with the minimum number of courses, this way you reduce your work load over the years and perform better

Ma'am, no one gives "more time". Just use the time you have 'academically'.

Meanwhile, the best result you can ever graduate with from that Mechanical Engineering Department is 2:2. I'll have given you hope if you were in Electrical. The best time to 'create your result' in FUTMinna SEET is in 100l, courtesy e-exam. 10:8:8 go surely chase you out. Even 2.0 is a poor start in Engineering.

If you can't pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Use of English, General Mathematics etc. comfortably; how do you expect to pass Fluid Mechanics, Applied Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Further Mathematics, Materials Science etc. comfortably?

As an Engineering student, you need to read and read like a Pharisee.

Prepare yourself for a Department in SEMT, SAAT, and probably SET.

I hate to say this, but IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO MAKE FIRST CLASS with a 0.2 foundation.

If you truly want the truth here it is. 90% sure You can get first class even your second class upper is only 50% sure, however no hope is lost , change your attitude toward your academics and improve. Live after school is not based only our your grade alone

My dear. Forget 1st class. My Year 1 CgGp was 4.47. I was motivated, i aimed for that same 1st class, knowing it was within my grasp. I quit hanging out. I stopped sex one semester close to 6months. What I forgot was...... The Wickedness of Lecturers. Even if you merit it. You think go 8courses they are ready to give you their A. After answering all exams easily. Giving them all they want. They nack me 3 C. I just weak buy Vpn start gee. I cant kill myself.
Pursuing 1st class is like gambling, the more you want to increase the more they drop you.
