Hello I would like to know how you got admitted to study at Geneva if you wouldn't mind. While I was going through the requirements I read a part that quoted international students as those from Iceland, Norway, France and other EU countries or if you have a resident status in Switzerland or France . So pls how did you apply and are you there now?

Hello red cliff , thankyou for the good work you're doing on here. You and all the other contributors. God bless you all.
I've got a question and I hope you or anyone else can help me out with it. I've gained admission to university of geneva for the master of science in global health program. And as I gather documents for the visa purposes I'd like to know concerning the bank statement how much should it be
And should the money be a huge sum of money just sitting in the account
Also since my parents will be sponsoring me what do I need from them. Is their bank account enough evidence or should I add land documents investments and business certificates as well. Thank you all.

Well, Zurich is a very expensive city with rents going for at least CHF 600 in the central zone. However, you might get one of the students apartments if you are lucky ( but first you have to be admitted to a programme to qualify). Also, your chance of "hustling" (in the Nigerian sense) is very limited except of course you speak German which boosts your chances tremendously. On the flip side, Zurich is a very clean and efficient city so you'll be getting your money's worth. I'm assuming you are looking at ETH Zurich. It's an excellent school which is consistently ranked in the top 10 in the world and I recommend it.

Good luck with your application.

I don't know much about USI so I can't offer any perpesctive on that. One thing I'll tell you though is that Switzerland is quite expensive whether Zurich or Bellinzona, better keep that in mind.

To obtain a student visa, you must show that you have at least CHF 21,000 in your account. Honestly, you have a long way to go yet. When you get to that stage, the University will send you all the requisite information.

Good luck.

Your alternative option would be to transfer the dollar/euro equivalent to someone you know in Switzerland and he/she would pay the fee via the Swiss post.

What do you need help with? I don't get the e-mail contact thing, I thought the idea of the thread is to guide people through a "do-it-yourself" process so everyone can benefit.

@santino and any other person who can give relevant information
Please I am interested in Eth Zurich for masters in Electrical Engineering, I also aim to settle in Zurich, soon after, what are my chances of getting admitted? Would I be able to find a student job? Also I get the hierarchy about the work permit after, Swiss then EU, then trade countries before they consider pure foreigners. How has that affected you so far? have you still thrived nevertheless? I also wish to learn German while in school, how do I go about this. Also if you have additional information about Eth Zurich, please say

Hi Santino,

I realize you have been offline this year, but if you can get this, I will really appreciate your response.

I have a few questions that might benefit other readers years on, I will fire on when I get a response.

Thanks for your previous contribution to this thread.

Regards.

Hi @Santino1,

I was lucky enough to meet this thread cos am very confused about certain things required for my swiss study visa.

I got admission at University of Basel for this Fall semester for a masters degree and the offer later just came June ending, is it advisable to proceed with visa appointment or defer to next session. I was strongly thinking of deferring with d opinion that embassy might use any opportunity to deny visa.

Again, the list of requirements I saw the embassy site for study applicants includes TOEFL. Do I really need to show proof of English language profiency being that am Nigerian?

More so, the financial guarantee form made provisions for columns for that of student mother and father. Must I have two sponsors? Also can an external person aside family be my sponsor?

Thanks so much n anticipating ur reply
