I want a baby girl and for some reasons best known to us and doctors advice, i don't want my wife to get pregnant again. can i get a surrogate mother here in Nigeria and what are the cost and processes. Is it also legal in our society?

We talked about adopting but i felt we will not feel that fulfillment as our child. Don't get me wrong, i love other people but your blood is your blood. i take care of other people children in whatever way i can?

please, i need to know.

And what if the surrogate gives birth to a boy?
Re: Surrogacy, How Effective Is It In Nigeria? by NinaJoy(f): 12:33pm On Jul 28, 2018
To me if u want a child and for some reasons u can't have it urself, and u want ur own blood/gene u don't want to adopt, surrogate is the best option,, it's just DAT its more expensive dan adoption or normal way,,,,Nigerias don't like minding their business in things and they won't make research very well concerning things so many people still think backward,,,,DAT is y u will see so many women die at child birth or have a still born just cos dey don't take doc's advice during labour... This guy is funny. You're a clean example of a heavily influenced chap (Western media influenced, pop culture, literature, Hollywood).

Have you taken enough time to ponder on what surrogacy really is? The compliance, the risk of becoming a root to the end of your marriage, etc.?

If you want another child and don't want adoption, simply get her pregnant. Simple. If you don't want her pregnant based on medical grounds, I understand. If it's cos you(or she) don't want her banging shape 'lost' then be honest with yourselves and don't go that route.

It is not as simple as it looks on the surface.

Tradition and customs: All lies that society has used to subdue and barricade people from reaching their potentials.

Surrogate mother will "go crazy" and want "her baby" back: Hollywood thriller stereotype that needs to go away forever. This hardly happens. She can't call it her baby if it's not her egg. If you have 500 surrogate pregnancies maybe one out of the 500 tend to go crazy. Also, they go through rigorous vetting and psychological evaluation. There is also an element of anonymity that the intending parents can sign up for. You can sue the fertility clinic if they breach this. Surrogate mother doesn't have to know you.

Surrogate mother will be "emotionally attached" to the baby: Unlikely. You have no idea the kinda women who do these things. They already have a mindset of "this is not my own baby" when they start the process. If women were that emotionally attached to babies (yimu) they won't be doing any abortions or throwing away babies inside refuse dump. So, that emotionally attached thing will hardly happen.

MR OP abeg walk into a REPUTABLE IVF clinic and let them know what you want. Nairaland people will not help much.

Lol, i dont comment on what i know nothing about.

I'm only talking about its repercussion on society in the near future. Human are emotional being even in the faces of laws.

Since anything we say seem illogical or unscientific to you guys, i wish you best of luck then.

It is a solution to a problem and not a fancy habit.

If there was no problem it would not have necessitated this solution.

Now a woman with viable eggs can have her own child even if her womb is not able to carry her child, someone else would carry it, a benefit that outweighs whatever emotional "repercussions" might result from it.

Dont mind him,not only Nigerian women, no woman on earth will see her child after some years and not feel emotionally in the name of surrogacy. Also what child on earth will not ask of his/her mother if he get to know he was born through surrogacy.

Surrogacy will soon be banned even in western countries.

You my friend.. you're one BIG psycho demented illiterate, ignorant and arrogant.

PLEASE LEARN:
Here sperm is taken from MAN and egg from the WIFE and embryo is created by In Vitro Fertilization(IVF) which is then transferred into F2(SURROGATE) for further growth. By this the baby born will inherit the traits of the parent(M&W) and will not have any traits of the surrogate mother(F2).

That is not true. I had witnessed cases were men abandoned their wives to marry another because of baby girl. The excuse most of them give are;
1. I want to enjoy bride price
2. Equality
3. Girls take care of their parents than guys

Then I can boldly say that the men who gave such excuses are yet to tell the truth behind their desperation. Except if na village people dey on top the marriage matter

It's perfectly legal but you must have a legal back up. Then don't depend on the hospitals to get willing partners for you cos they might get ambitious later, source yours. I'm handling one now for a relative at a cost I consider friendly. You can reach out for further discussions.
what makes it legal in Nigeria, seeing that there is no law recognizing it in the first place?. The only thing you can advise the OP is to have papers signed as legal back up but saying it is legal in Nigeria, I beg to disagree.

Really?

I still doubt if surrogacy will work in this part of the world considering family influence in marriages and will the family of the surrogate mother not interfere if they got to know about such arrangement? Even will the surrogate mother keep to terms of agreement and not want to play a part in the child's life?

Not sure our society is mature for such cos we still hold importance of marriage in high pedestal.

E no work here. What works for us is letting your wife marry a maid for you, the maid becomes her possession as well as her children.

If you upgrade small then, baby mama sure pass.

Did you not read the part where he mentioned that the reason is best known to them and their Doctor. what exactly is surrogacy? what is wrong with it? and how is it western media influenced?
He is already on the right path by asking whether or not surrogacy is legal in Nigeria. if it is legal, then there is nothing wrong at all. Depending on the type of surrogacy he wants ( traditional or gestational surrogacy) in traditional surrogacy, the man's sperm and the surrogate egg are used and that genetically makes the surrogate a partial owner of the baby. But in gestational surrogacy, the couple's egg and sperm are used which make them by genetics, a 100% owner of the baby. Gestational surrogacy is preferable since both couple's egg and sperm is used to make the baby unless otherwise. If you can't call IVF, family planning western media influenced, I don't see any reason why you should categorize surrogacy as western media influenced. Things like white wedding and baby showers are the type of things we should castigate as western media influenced.

Ask elders what? Why would you even let them into your privacy? Surrogacy involves the guy's sperm and the woman's ovum. The surrogate mother will just act as an incubator. She has no genetic connection to the baby.

Okay. Remember you are dealing with Nigerian women. Will the surrogate mother know it's you?

Even kim Kardashian, their surrogate knows them. She can't do anything later on because the law backs them and two, there is no genetic relationship between the child and the surrogate.

In the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, the surrogate mothers didn't have a hint who Cee was. They never met.

Baby girls are the ones who take care of you at old age, boys really don't have the time, especially when they have their own families. And YES,surrogacy exists in Nigeria, but very costly.
