Thank you for the response. But I am applying as a trainee not as a student. And I'm a first time applicant.

LagosNIV:

Great question. Saturday appointment dates for students are a legitimate option though they are not regularly planned. However, apply for the Saturday option ONLY IF the date occurs two months or more after your last refusal. Remember that one is required to wait two months before reapplying for another student visa. This policy ensures that all student visa applicants – whether first or second time applicants – have the opportunity to apply to study in the United States.

Morning AbujaNIV and LagosNIV,

My I-20 stated that I will be using family as my funding source for PhD. My total fee is $32k inclusive of tuition, living expenses and books.
Fortunately for me, I got a funding guarantee letter from my department awarding me $18k as stipend for one year.

My questions goes thus:

Is it advisable to take my uncle's company account statement for interview to show that he will cover the remaining cost?

I have personal savings that can cover the remaining fee if I won't be using family funds, should I present my personal account statement and funding letter from my department if VO asked about who is sponsoring me?

Is there is any negative impact if am not showing evidence of family funding as stated on my I-20?

Applicants cannot make changes to the DS-160 once it has been submitted. One must fill out a new DS-160 then contact CGI to associate the new DS160 with their appointment date. CGI contact information is located on these sites: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-main-contactus.asp and https://ng.usembassy.gov/visas/

Thank you LagosNIV, for your advice. However, the situation still remain same as i cant pick a date for interview yet. my profile page shows this details over and over i have send mails to appropriate quaters been told escalated and yet to be resolve. what can i do pls?
Thanks for your assist.

Dear AbujaNIV,
I'd applied to renew my last B1/B2 visa which expired under 12months ago.I'd travelled on the expired visa for a conference back then in Miami&I didn't overstay, neither was I in breach of any immigration regulations.I thought I'd take advantage of the courtesy by U.S INA and renew via the Dropbox, however after about 15 working days since submission I received an email inviting me for a follow up interview&stating a denial under section 221g with an attachment form with instructions on what steps to take.On the attached form were boxes listing certain requirements of which the only requirement that was ticked is the request to attend an interview. Also bearing in mind that the tracker still shows Administrative Processing online, and the conference I intend to attend will hold between 28th&30th of August.
Here goes my questions
1.How do I know what documents to attend the interview with as I'm unsure of what information must be provided?Employment contract, bank statements etc?If these documents are rarely examined and it's not been specified which to come with, what then do I go with?
2.Should I decide to schedule an appointment to still be able to attend the conference at the end of August, may I request for an expedited interview(which was what I got for my first visa)?
3.If my request for expedited interview isn't approved, may I still attend the interview to apply for a visa to visit the U.S for leisure other than the initial conference purpose which would have already taken place by that time?
4.Am I required to pay another application fee?As I tried to do so it didn't accept the receipt number.
5.Do I need a new DS160 form or all I need is just schedule and attend interview?
6.Is there any other thing that applies to this situation that may be helpful to know about?since I can't even understand why it wasn't even approved in the first place.

NB:If this appears on another forum,I'm only trying to get the appropriate thread to get prompt answers to my questions as I've been searching all day and can't find the exact one.
Thanks in anticipation of some good feedback.

How to Apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa
Step 1
For Nonimmigrant Visa applicants:

Determine your visa type by reading Common Nonimmigrant Visas. Each visa type explains the qualifications and application items. Choose the visa type that applies to your situation.

Be sure to also review the Visa Waiver Program. If your country participates in the Visa Waiver Program, you do not need to apply for a visa if you are traveling for business or pleasure and will only be staying in the United States for 90 days or less.

Step 2
Once you have determined the correct visa type, you must pay the visa fee. The visa fee page lists the visa types and correlating visa fee in US dollars and native currency.

To pay your visa fee, read the Bank and Payment Options page. This page explains how to make your visa fee payment. You must keep your receipt number to book your visa appointment.

Step 3
The next step is to complete the DS-160 form. Be sure to read the Guidelines for Completing the DS-160 Form carefully. All information must be correct and accurate. Once the form is submitted, you cannot make any changes. If you need assistance, please consult an immigration lawyer or translator. The call center cannot help you complete your DS-160. You will need your DS-160 number to book your appointment.

Step 4
You are almost ready to schedule your visa appointment!

Now you will need to create a profile in our system. Follow this link and click on New User.

Complete all fields and create a password. Once you are in the system, you will see your dashboard.
On the left-hand side, click on Schedule Appointment.

This will start the process for scheduling your appointment. For each applicant being scheduled you will need:

The applicant's passport number
The receipt number from GT Bank receipt. (Click here if you need help finding this number.)
The ten (10) digit barcode number from the applicant's DS-160 confirmation page
As you go through the process you will be able to select your visa type, enter personal data, add dependents, select your document delivery location, confirm visa payment and finally, schedule your appointment.

Step 5
Visit the U.S. Embassy on the date and time of your visa interview. Be sure to check the Schedule My Appointment page for the necessary documentation needed for your appointment.

Answers to your questions:
1. You are informed of the reason for not receiving a visa during the interview. The blue form refers to refusal under a section of the U.S. Immigration law - 214b. To qualify for a visitor or student visa, an applicant must meet the requirements of sections 101(a)(15)(B) or (F) of the INA respectively. Failure to do so will result in a refusal of a visa under INA 214(b). The most frequent basis for such a refusal concerns the requirement that the prospective visitor or student possess a residence abroad he/she has no intention of abandoning. Applicants prove the existence of such residence by demonstrating that they have ties abroad that would compel them to leave the U.S. at the end of the temporary stay. The law places this burden of proof on the applicant.
Refer to this site for information about 214b. http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-gen-faq.asp#qlistrefuse1

2. Your visa will be printed with the name in your passport. So, if you have not changed the name on your passport, then it is not required to submit your marriage and name change documents. Be sure to use the same name in your passport in your DS-160. Ensure that all of your documents are consistent.
Once you change your name in your passport, be sure to use your new legal name in your new visa application and submit proof of your legal name change and marriage during your visa interview or drop box application.

3. To qualify for interview waiver, visa applicants must be applying to renew a visa in the same classification as their prior nonimmigrant visa - B1/B2, F, M, J, L, or H visas. Refer to this site for drop box requirements. http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-visarenew.asp

Answers to your questions:
1. Gather and prepare the following required documents before your visa interview:

Passport valid for travel to the United States – Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the United States (unless exempt by country-specific agreements). Each individual who needs a visa must submit a separate application, including any family members listed in your passport.
Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160 confirmation page.
Application fee payment receipt, if you are required to pay before your interview.
Photo – You will upload your photo while completing the online Form DS-160. If the photo upload fails, you must bring one printed photo in the format explained in the Photograph Requirements.
Additional Documentation May Be Required
Review the instructions for how to apply for a visa on the website of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you will apply. Additional documents may be requested to establish if you are qualified. For example, additional requested documents may include evidence of:

The purpose of your trip,
Your intent to depart the United States after your trip, and/or
Your ability to pay all costs of the trip.

Evidence of your employment and/or your family ties may be sufficient to show the purpose of your trip and your intent to return to your home country. If you cannot cover all the costs for your trip, you may show evidence that another person will cover some or all costs for your trip.

Note: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa.
Refer to this site for me details: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html#apply

2-5. Any visa applicant with an urgent, credible need to travel to the United States can apply for an expedited appointment. First, register and make an appointment via this link: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-appointmentschedule.asp , then request an expedited appointment via this link: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-expeditedappointment.asp

Hello AbujaNIV/LagosNIV,

Great job you are doing here.

I had my F1 visa interview at the US Embassy in Abuja. The status of my visa changed to ISSUED on the 25th of July. When I track my passport however, it says "Your passport has been picked up" (for about a week now).

However, I have neither picked up my passport nor received any sms/email to do so since. I am concerned because I only have a few days to book a flight and resume school. I would like to know what the system means by "Your passport has been picked up" and what I should be doing in this situation.

Thank you for your prompt response.

Hello LAGOSNIV/AbujaNIV, an applicant was denied an F-1 visa before 3 months ago, in the previous DS-160 and I-20 form stated the aunt as the sponsor (business account ) now when he is reapplying, in the new DS-160 and I-20 forms, the uncle is standing as the sponsor with the same surname, (the personal account of the uncle ), will there be any issues or contradiction during interview, will this have negative impact, kindly give your suggestions,
should he use the previous sponsor his aunt, or the new sponsor his uncle with the same surname or both his sponsors,.please do help on this, thanks in advance

Have been dating a United States citizen for 2 years she lives in Pennsylvania..so she suggested it’s time we meet and I told her to come and his son said no the can’t let her go alone and no one is ready to go with her so they concluded I should come ...I went for it yesterday and I was denied ..she cried for 5 hours which is really so bad for her .
I wanna apply again and I want a step to take ..what kinda visa I can apply for ..thanks
