Goodday house,

Please I am to escort my father in-law to USA for his medical checkup. He has been given a visa and I just applied for mine. The problem is that I haven't done passport change of name.

Hi Lagos Niv
My Niece had a j1 visa extension interview on 7/01/19 which was approved and told passport would be ready in 2-3 buisness days;
Unfortunately, the passport is yet to be ready and the website is still indicating “Administrative Processing”
No further documents were requested.
I have sent emails to us-traveldocs and lagosNiv without success.
Why is it taking this long?

Hello LagosNIV.

I qualify to renew my visa using the Dropbox option. I have filled out my DS 160 and also paid the visa fee.

The challenge I'm having is that each time I go to the cgifederal platform it keeps telling me to schedule an interview. Why, If I may I ask? Quick answers needed please.

Hello Lagos NIV
Please what happens when someone goes to the visa interview and forgot to sign the student part of the i20 and was denied the US visa?

I am not saying this is the reason the student was denied. Peradventure it was, can the person reapply again or has he/she been banned?

I know this sounds weird but answers and will be appreciated.

Hello Lagos NIV,

I just recently interviewed for a B1 B2 Medical VISA to give birth in the USA. The interviewer asked if I had been out of Nigeria- I did my MBA in UK, vacationed 4 times in uk, Netherlands, Dubai, Seychelles. Then he asked for my account statement and questioned a recent inflow of 10 million naira. I worked with an Oil and Gas IOC (he didn’t ask where I worled) I was denied. Could the account statement have been the problem. My husband also works with a OIl & Gas IOC and we can really afford to cover our medical expenses. I intend to reapply immediately. Please I am confused on what went wrong? Do I also add my husband’s account statement or was it because to inflow was on the date I printed to account statement. Kindly help advise what to do in a situation like this. Looking forward to your response. Thank you

I started renewal process for my self, wife and son in August last year via Dropbox. My wife and I visas were approved but my son was requested to come for interview which we promptly scheduled for February 10, 2019, the next available date. While reviewing his documents today, I discover that remaining validity of his passport will be four months, which is less than the normal six month validity advised. Kindly from your experiences advise what we should do.
He is 20 years old now and we have travelled to US together severally but not in the last four years. Should he appear for the interview with the current passport or a new one.

Hello Lagos NIV

I wrote a mail to the supporting service complaining about my lost old passport number on my confirmation appointment. Please can you interprete this. My old passport number is still in my confirmation appointment page. Though that was what I used in purchasing my visa fee before it got lost. But my new passport number has been updated in my DS 160 form. I'm having an interview soon, hope this won't affect me.

This was the response from US service desk below

Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening Pt 2 by pipz(m): 3:22pm On Jan 25, 2019
My mum was denied a visa last year as we were not ready to invite her then and I’d not yet been approved of my GC. My cousin invited her and the consulate denied her stating “why isn’t your son inviting you” as my cousin had filled on the DS 160 that she had a son in the US. Fast forward to late last year, we decided it’s time we invite her as we now have a baby. People advised us my wife be the one to invite her since I’m yet to be approved GC, so we decided to start processing another appointment for her but could only secure a March 2019 date for appointment. Alas, I was granted a GC without being asked any question at the interview, coming from a K1 candidate. My question now is should I go back and edit and resubmit the DS 160 so to indicate I’m the one inviting her or just leave it to be my wife inviting. Thanks and I wish everyone a blissful 2019

LagosNIV:
Hello missingribs,

We understand that people may need to change their travel dates because they could not get interview dates early enough to accommodate their original plans. However, you should still be prepared to discuss your intended activities and plans for the United States once you arrive.

Unless specifically asked to provide paperwork, the consular officer will likely decline to view whatever documentation you may provide. If asked, you should be able to speak about your relationship with your partner. If the interviewing officer needs more information, they will let you know.

Thanks for your response.
I will appreciate if you respond to this situation.
Just has I said earlier, I intend to travel for just 10days cos my wedding is coming up soon.
Am a single mother, I want to go on vacation with my child before my wedding just to fulfill my promise to her.have been saving towards this mission. since I gave birth to her have not had any contact with her father since he said he does not want to have any thing to do with the pregnancy. I have an affidavit of fact and affidavit of single motherhood will there be any challenge.will this pose as a problem in acquiring a visa for her.she jokingly asked me that won't they ask that we don't have same surname and since then have been disturbed.

Hello LagosNIV,
I submitted my passport for Dropbox renewal on the 10th of Jan, but was scheduled after that for a compulsory training in Abu Dhabi in Feb by my company. I would like to retrieve my passport from the embassy and I have sent mails to LagosNIV but I’m just getting a generic answer. Please what is the proper process for cases like this as I can’t find anything online... please assist as it’s a bit urgent. Thank you.

Dear LagosNIV,

Please assist with my request below. I have sent two emails to the LagosNIV mailbox between Tuesday and today and I am yet to receive a response. I know it is possible with other Consulates to collect one's passport if there is a travel need whilst processing of the application continues. I have read that a B1/B2 application cannot be withdrawn,I am not sure how true this is but I sincerely do not mind withdrawing my application at this stage. I just urgently need my passport and will be grateful if email requests are at least attended to.

Surely, there must be a process to collect my international passport. It is very urgent please!!!.
I have contacted your call centre and all the agents say there’s nothing that can be done!!! How is that even possible?

Is it possible to get an expedited appointment scheduled after an initial refusal under section 214b without waiting for 6 months?

Appointment date coming up considers a 6 months waiting period of renewal?

Thank you.

Hello ConfirmD,

If the applicant was not informed of a "ban", or permanent ineligibility, at the time of the interview, then no ban exists. They are welcome to reapply if they feel that they have new information they would like to present to the consular officer.

Hello EOA1,

We no longer require passports to have at least 6 months' validity to issue visas. Your son can appear with either his old passport or a new one. However, it may make traveling easier if the new visa is placed in a more recently issued passport; if the visa is placed in his old passport, he will need to carry that passport even after it has expired in order to show the still-valid visa.

Dear LagosNIV,

Good morning.

after applying for my US visa renewal via dropbox, i was asked to schedule another interview under the 221G category.

however, following the information on this link; http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-documentsubmissioninfo.asp it stated that i have to take the additional documents alongside the requested additional document, 221G slip and 221G letter given by the embassy back to the nearest DHL document.

my question is, is this the case or do i have to appear physically at the embassy for interview? and the above is the case, how do i print the 221G slip online?

thank you.

Hello scott509,

Technically, your visa remains valid while you have another application pending and therefore you should be ok to travel. However, as we don’t know why your specific case was held for additional processing, we cannot say whether you will be allowed to enter the United States without further scrutiny by the Department of Homeland Security. It would be prudent to wait for your follow-up interview before making concrete travel plans.

Hello pipz,

Whether you or your wife is the one to invite your mother will not affect her visa adjudication. She should be prepared to demonstrate that her purpose of travel falls within the parameters of a B1/B2 visa and that she has strong ties outside of the United States which would compel her to leave after a temporary visit.

pipz:

Hello goldee29,

You can book another appointment on the CGI website and then request an expedited appointment. Please bear in mind that that request may be denied - these appointments are for people who have truly time-sensitive requests, like a need for emergency medical treatment that cannot be obtained elsewhere or to attend a funeral. If your request is not time-sensitive or nothing significant has changed since your last application, the emergency request will likely be denied.

We ask that people wait six months after a refusal before reapplying again to ensure that others have a chance to interview in a timely manner. If your emergency appointment request is denied and you do not wait six months between refusals, please know that it may reflect poorly on you.

goldee29:
