Where you got it wrong is that the boy could have the idea but bringing the idea to reality was with nigerian army engineers. We've not even talked of funding, tools and resources needed to build the helicopter.

That boy couldn't have had the skill to biuld this aircraft but his idea would have made Nigerian Army THINK BIG.

Most researchers are based in schools but their ideas only become a reality when a company is ready to fund the project. The project automatically becomes that of the company/organization/institution that funded it except in situation where there is some kind of agreement.

This is the reason many Nigerian prof./schools are referred to paper warriors. They can hardly transform their ideas to reality because there are no companies to fund them.

You should be ashamed of yourself because it is not govt of those countries they run to that sponsor most of their projects. Companies in industrialized nations sponsor most of these innovations. Those are part of the benefits of living in an industrialized nation.

Only in Nigeria that every one depend on government for everything. Everything that makes America a great country today were not the product of the government but the people themselves.

If the Nigerian army and Airforce are leading the way by sponsoring local ideas, I don't think we should have problem with this.

What are you ashamed of? The man has a point, one thing is to have an idea, another thing is to have the resources to turn that idea into reality.
That's where collaboration comes in, if he has the idea, and the military has the tools and resources to work with him and bring that idea to life, what's wrong with that?
Many people do have ideas, but without that financial support, among other things, that idea remains just that, an idea.
So without that critical support, it will be hard to turn that idea into reality

off topic :This is Sgt. 1st Class Reymund R. Transfiguracion, 36. He was killed yesterday in Afghanistan's Helmand province by an IED explosion. Bio just released by the Army says he was born in the Philippines in May 1982 and enlisted in the Hawaii National Guard in July 2001. Initially, he was a motor transport operator, and deployed with the Guard to Iraq in 2005. He joined active duty as a conventional soldier in in 2008, deploying to Afghanistan and the Philippines with the U.S. Special Operations task force there. He was selected for Special Forces training after returning from those two deployments, and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, of Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.

I've stressed many time THIS WORLD ISN'T THE WAY IT SEEMS! Conventional wisdom and narratives are bent, squeezed into pretzels to fit a certain standard. History, itself or the chronicles we accept as history have been turned inside out and upside down. IIRC,someone here,a wikipedia 'military researcher,' as he referred to himself accused me of photoshopping Blacks who volunteered to fight for the Germans in WW2 I posted.
Anyway, without further ado, here are the Black Confederates! Yes,Blacks fought for the Slave owning South. Neither were they servants, cooks, musicians and menials usually associated with blacks in such situations. I couldn't ID their regiments but these are a few of the blacks who took up arms for the South.

Why haven’t we heard more about them? National Park Service historian, Ed Bearrs, stated, “I don’t want to call it a conspiracy to ignore the role of Blacks both above and below the Mason-Dixon line, but it was definitely a tendency, which began around 1910.” Historian, Erwin L. Jordan, Jr., calls it a “cover-up” which started back in 1865. He writes, “During my research, I came across instances where Black men stated they were soldiers, but you can plainly see where ‘soldier’ is crossed out and ‘body servant’ inserted, or ‘teamster’ on pension applications.”
[url]http://www.scv.org/new/contributed-works/black-confederates/[/url

In fact they also owned slaves, including whites!

There were approximately 319,599 free blacks in the United States in 1830. Approximately 13.7 per cent of the total black population was free. A significant number of these free blacks were the owners of slaves. The census of 1830 lists 3,775 free Negroes who owned a total of 12,760 slaves.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/facts-about-slavery/

Confederate army leader Gen Robert E Lee himself said:"When you eliminate the black Confederate soldier, you've eliminated the history of the South."

EVERYTHING WE'VE LEARNED IN SCHOOL IS NOTHING BUT MISEDUCATION!?

The first is Confederate prez,Jefferson Davis ,37 and his obviously biracial wife,Varina Howell,17 in 1845. HOW CAN THIS BE? WEREN'T THEY FIGHTING TO DEFEND THE INSTITUTION OF BLACK SLAVERY?

Investigate everything!! Imo,its extremely disappointing people here still believe the MSM tales about BH and hopefully this little historical excursion will show the importance of BELIEVING NOTHING AND INVESTIGATING EVERYTHING! The implications of the irrefutable existence of these Black Confederates are huge:race and class must be reevaluated and the value of (mis)education completely reassessed .
Fyi,there was a slave trade that took 0.5 W Africans to N America but most were the black Catholic losers of European race/religious wars and captured indig black Americans-another looooonnggggg story.

I hope the follow on order is for more ammo. They only got +/- 1500 rounds of each ammo type. You would think they would order a lot more Prac. ammo.

They are going to have to get rid of all their old low velocity launchers as well. Not safe to have them around while having higher pressure ammo in inventory. They had a lot of accidents when it was introduced to the infantry back in the day. I suspect most of it was ammo related though, but still a dangerous weapon if you're training with HE. There was also a huge amount of 40mm HE duds lying on our training ranges because of the soft sand. Imagine diving for cover during fire and movement exercises and then seeing one of these next to your face. Not fun. The fuse activates during firing, so when you see the warhead on its own, it means it can be "live" and go off like a mine if you disturb it. They used to stack them on mounds for EOD to deal with them later.
We didn't have any training ammo for some reason, so everything was HE.

The AP-65 rifle grenade had the same issues in soft sand. I remember a (I think it was a Lt.) guy at 8SAI picking up a dud AP-65 and wanting to throw it at a troop to scare him. He changed his mind at the last moment and threw it into a trench setting it of. Heard he got a "private PT" lesson afterwards. Some if the officers weren't that well trained when it came to weapons specifics. The AP-65 has a live indicator window that tells you if its been activated from firing. Green is good, Red you're dead.

We used to carry it like the guy in the pick bellow. It feels like someone's punching you in the ribs when you're running.

AIR LOGISTICS SUPPORT: CDS COMMENDS NAF AS EXERCISE OMO OLOJA HOLDS IN LAGOS

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its continued delivery of credible Air Power in the North East and other parts of the country as well as across the West African Sub-Region. The CDS gave this commendation yesterday, 14 August 2018, during the Logistics Command (LC) Air Logistics Support Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) held at 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot (631 ACMD), Lagos. The SIMEX dubbed “OMO OLOJA”, meaning "the Trader" or "Peddler of Goods", was designed on a scenario based on the need to provide rapid airlift of humanitarian relief materials to a fictitious nation of 37 provinces which had been devastated by natural disaster.

In his keynote address, the CDS, who was Guest of Honour at the event, expressed delight to flag-off such a significant exercise because of the importance of logistics to the successful conduct of contemporary military operations. “Without logistics, success cannot be guaranteed. You may plan the most audacious battle, manned by the most highly skilled personnel with the most advanced weapon systems; but if you don’t have ordinary drinking water for the troops, or lack the capacity to move men and materiel to the right place at the right time; all may come to nothing. That is why it is often said that ‘if you don’t have logistics you don’t have anything”, he said. Speaking further, General Olonisakin lauded the NAF for its robust human capacity building initiatives which had enabled the Service perform its constitutional roles creditably. He also commended the CAS for organizing the SIMEX which, he said, would further build NAF’s capacity to provide efficient and timely logistics support for the effective conduct of operations of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The CDS also seized the opportunity to thank the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, for making the modernization, re-equipping and continuous training of the Nigerian Armed Forces a top priority.

In his opening remarks, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stressed the importance of Air Power in modern warfare not only in offensive and defensive roles but also in collection of credible and timely intelligence as well as the swift and efficient airlift of forces within and across theatres of operation. He noted that the security challenges currently facing the country and the West African Sub-Region would continue to make Air Power imperative for the effective discharge of Nigeria’s obligations in ensuring sub-regional stability, as demonstrated during the Gambian crisis. The CAS described air logistics support as one of NAF's core functions that would continue to make this possible. He added that it had become crystal clear that without air logistics support, it was virtually impossible to successfully prosecute modern warfare. Accordingly, the CAS said the NAF would continue to conduct realistic, practical and functional training exercises, like Exercise OMO OLOJA, to ensure it was fully prepared to provide necessary logistics support to meet national security imperatives as well as in support of humanitarian relief operations in aid to Civil Authority. The CAS ended by thanking the CDS for reviewing the SIMEX and providing guidance for its effective conduct.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Air Officer Commanding LC (AOC LC), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Remigius Ekeh, stated that Exercise OMO OLOJA was aimed at practicing participants in the conduct of a medium scale airlift operation with a view to enhancing coordination between operations, logistics and aircraft engineering staff for the effective and efficient execution of air logistics operations. AVM Ekeh also disclosed that similar training exercises would be conducted by other NAF Commands in line with their core functions. He thanked the CAS for choosing LC as the vanguard of these series of training exercises across the Service.

The SIMEX also featured briefings from the Exercise Director and Heads of the various Cells who gave details of their various roles in facilitating the movement of a total of 400,000 lbs of relief materials using designated aircraft and ground transportation. Highlight of the event was the loading and airlift of some consignments of relief materials by the C-130H heavy airlift aircraft.

Excellent!

For a while I thought that Nigeria's major problem in terms of development was a lack of meaningful exercises that have real world applications. Training like this is invaluable, and if kept up will lead to the development of a world class military!

Dude, your problem is listening.

The Nigerian military has always prioritized training of it's men. The difference between now and then is media coverage.
