A discussion of dissent opinion is going on, NOT an ARGUMENT

Two different things

My view is that, he should work on his travel history, this will make it easy for the V.O to issue him a visit visa. For now he should forget about traveling to U.S and start working on his non-existent travel history.

You hit it right up.
A smart way to do it. Go to other countries fill your date of birth as USA which is what it is (they don't know if his papa was a diplomat) and pray they don't ask follow up questions about birth status and citizenship.

Some forms are really tricky they ask you Your place of birth and also ask you your citizenship which just "muddles" the process up

He has more chances of getting a tourist visa to Europe or Asia

But he's not arguing with you na. He's only saying he's America born, dazzol! Surely he can't be conferred citizenship on that ground because of the pecularity of his case. I can't even understand how his parents, and our parents, just let the US and the UK go like that, no visits, nothing. Diplomats for that matter oh!

Our parents of old sha. Well, Nigeria was very good for them then sha.

Was your dad a diplomat in the UK?

If I was you I wouldn't keep chest beating on this place of birth matter or reference it during a visa interview unless asked and rather get an attorney to look at possibility of PR reinstatement of a minor ( if your attorney is smart in this country there is always a lacuna that can be taken advantage of grin grin )

if this pulls through you can keep it and still be shuttling both countries while living in naija(do with sense) I did this for many years untill . . .

Also if you have not been back to the states since you got back when you were 2 years old. It will be pretty interesting to see how the dice goes. Like someone said a 50-50, I would say depending on the VO it may either be a long interview or a straight up ineligibility based off some interesting "proof of ties" index or checklist they run on cheesy

Best of luck and be smart

The funny part is that if he enters the US he can freely lives as a US Citizen if he wants to. A birth certificate is all it takes to prove your US citizenship. There are loophole in the system that makes it possible for any child born in the US to get a US passport.
In his case, he was unfortunate to fall in the hands of the State Department through the embassy who did a thorough search. The States Department is the only agency that has record of who works as diplomat in the US and when. No other goverment agency in the US has record of the diplomats in the US.

No sir.... Schooled there for some 6, 7 years in the 60's into the very early 70's right before I was born (almost giving up my details there now though), and actually came back home with wifey, and two kids born in the UK. They literally fought with everything to get back in the UK in the 90's because they never went back there for over two decades and almost lost trace of pointers to claiming citizenship, wasn't smooth at all compared to what the process is today.

I assume they are in the UK now, right?
Anyway, Africa of the 60s was just as good as South Korea or Canada

You are very right. Part of the "lacuna" I am talking about but DJT is closing up those holes with the recent denials of Hispanics close to south Texas border even with their "birth certificates" and judgement day be coming the day you ever really need to put the matter to rest and it was proven that all the while you been claiming citizenship benefits .

them no dey play with motives and intentions that's how these overzealous DOJ prosecutors will get you

Hello all,

I recently had my interview, my intention was to give birth in Texas, so we applied as a Family, we were 5 in number(my hubby, me, my mum and my two kids) I decided to take my mum along to assist me over there with my 19months toddler and also when the baby is born (it would have been her first time of traveling with us eventhough she has travelled to Ghana twice). Our bank statement was way more than our budget.

Below is my transcript,

Kindly help find out what went wrong

Me and hubby: Good morning
V.O: Good morning, can i have your passports
V.O: all five of you are traveling
Me and Hubby: Yes
V.O: have you traveled as a family before?
Hubby: Yes, we have been to Dubai and also visited the UK and I have also been to the US
V.O: (flips through my husband's passport) what do you do?
Hubby: I'm a engineer with a Telecoms company
V.O: How long have you been there?
Hubby: 10 years
V.O: how much do you earn?
Hubby: told her
V.O: Madam what do you do
Me: Im a caterer i cater for events and parties
V.O: how much do you earn?
me: i told her
V.O: Do you have staffs?
me: Yes, 4 of them
V.O: why are you going to texas?
Hubby: We are going for Vacation and my wife is also going to give birth there
Me: Childbirth and Tourism
V.O: what is your budget for this trip
Me and Hubby: $20,000
V.O: Can i see your bank statement?
Hubby: ( He hands it over to her)
V.O: (she just scanned through and continues typing)
V.O: Sorry you are not qualified at the moment ( hands us the Pink paper)

We were among the last batch of people interviewed, I also noticed the V.O seems in a hurry to close for the day, because she didn't even sit while interviewing us.

Please Gurus in the house, help pinpoint what went wrong.

Thank you.

1. I don't think you being the last batch has anything to do with the rejection.
2. Your entire family shouldn't have applied at the same time.
3. You should have gone first, and alone. Once you got your visa, then your mum could then apply, then your husband - your kids will be given visa's provided the parent or parents, they applied with, are given.
4. This is my opinion and maybe you are right, the VO was just tired and was rushing home.

20k USD may seem like an over the top budget to you. Per American standard without health insurance 20k no reach to born and take care of 5 people inclusive feeding , accommodation, shopping/vacationing.

If it was just just you, it may have been a 50-50. The fact the VO was standing, sitting, eating, you were the last or first person of the day doesn't have anything to do with the denial. There are people who have been approved and they were the last applicant still in building after closing time

Give it a second shot

Ties to Nigeria seems to be the problem here. Madam, why not leave your kids behind with your mother, then travel with your husband for childbirth afterwards you can apply separately for your kids and mother. Things have changed now, even with travel history, you still need ties.

$20,000 is not even enough... Childbirth alone will gulp at least $16000, plane ticket, accommodation, feeding, local running etc... will take around $15000.
You should have applied alone or with your husband then the kids, your mom should come last.
You did not plan this thing well.

We had way more than USD20,000 in just one of our bank statements and we presented more than one statement (we went fully loaded), and besides my husband and my 7yr old daughter were only spending 2 weeks, so i needed my mum to stay back with me, that was why we applied together.

Traveling to the US to celebrate the birthday of your baby is not a strong enough reason. The child is not old enough to appreciate the gesture.
Only you know how to describe your business because you are the one doing it.
Your financial ties are too flexible to encourage you to return. Your family tie is non-existent since you will be traveling with them.

They’re denying entry into the US to pple who have stayed in the US for up to 5 months on their US visiting visa and they’re denying it straight from Mutala Mohammed Airport. It happened to a friend's mum, she spent 5 months in the US on her last visit. The airline refused to allow her board and directed her to the embassy, las las she was informed it was because of the duration of her last visit...not sure if the visa was later cancelled or revoked (don't have that info yet).

People, lets be careful...Trump is changing things e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y.

How in this world does someone "go visiting/tourism" for 5 whole months in another country? Does the person not have a job, family, home/pet/garden/lawn/grocery to maintain?

I wish I can stay pass 3-4 weeks in Nigeria/Europe/Asia when visiting. My body just starts to itch and I start to feel like am missing something.

How do people do it ? I need tips I beg I really do mbok
