Sit-at-home: Army, Police, Civil Defense, DSS meet; dismiss IPOB’s order

Nigerians have been asked by the security agencies not to take seriously, the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), saying it will not hold.

The sit-at-home order, which has been fixed for September 14, 2018, was handed down by IPOB in a statement last week by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful.

The statement had called on Igbos in every part of the country to stay indoor on the said date, to register its anger, and protest the alleged killing of men and women at Afaraukwu, Umuahia, in the course of Operation Python Dance carried out by the military in September, 2017, as well as those killed in Port Harcourt and Aba.

IPOB regretted that one Mr. Okafor, who was allegedly on a peaceful march from Nkpor to Onitsha, was shot dead by the army.

Addressing reporters after a closed-door meeting of high-powered security operatives that included the Army, Police, Civil Defense, Immigration, Department of State Services (DSS), at the State Police Headquarters in Awka, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, reiterated that IPOB is an illegal organisation and therefore has no right to give order to anybody.

He said: “IPOB is an illegal organisation. We are therefore appealing to members of the public that, on no account should they be intimidated or harassed into succumbing to the threat of IPOB. They plan to embark on sit-at-home on September 14, 2018, but the security agencies are ready for any eventuality.

“We are ready, and we have all it takes to keep the peace in this state. Anambra State has been enjoying relative peace and we will never relax in providing adequate security in this state. We are in touch with all security agencies, including the military, that we will never ever allow anybody to truncate the democracy we are enjoying, and on no account should we allow anybody to foul this peaceful atmosphere.

“We urge members of the public to go about their lawful businesses as they will be adequately protected. The issue of calling for a referendum on the 8th of this month or thereabout and the September 14 sit-at-home order by IPOB will not be tolerated”, he added.

Is the security agencies business. You guys must come out and work, whether you like it not.

Why do you want to sit at home when other patriotic nigerians are busy working?

Believe me it is either out of love or greed if some northerners(fizz nation is Hausa). But I can tell you for a fact that if there is any tribe that wants the igbos to leave, it is the Yorubas. We support Biafra wholeheartedly!

Like I said earlier, I think they should be left alone. It is comments like this that makes it seem that Yorubas nay Nigerians care about Biafra. I live amongst Yorubas and I have never heard any Yoruba fret over Biafra. Rather, yorubas are largely indifferent and irritated by the sight of igbos. We are just too diametrically opposed in principles with the igbos. We don’t see life this same way hence we just tolerate each other. I thank God for the tolerance God has bestowed on the Yorubas.

Lol! You just want to believe contrary to all available evidence that Yorubas want you around. Let me tell you something for a fact, my mother is from the SS has always warned me not to ever bring an Igbo girl home. That’s to tell you what other Nigerians think of igbos. Yorubas are tired of your BS hence their apathy and indifference to igbo issues. We are just sick of you.

Those that were happy at the python dance invasion were only baying for some igbo retribution over all the needless insults from igbos, not that they want igbos around. Go to the frontpage and see two different stories of igbos caught with drugs in Far East Asia. Nigerians are not happy with igbos and you know it. You can continue lying to yourself sha.

See Bro, I think they should be left alone to do whatever they want to do. I understand their plight given how other Nigerians view them. And I think they should be given an opportunity to decide if they want to remain part of Nigeria. We can not postpone the evil day forever.

that is a strong allegation which holds no water and why do you think it is that day when there is no movement and will sit at home that they will use to stockpile arms, how?

Even the government that accused them of arms deal couldn't prove it.

The sit at home is a protest to the invasion of kanus home last September and not what you concoct in your illusions, try and be guided.
