This is how you make an analogy

US National Debt - $21 Trillion - Debt to GDP 76%
UK National Debt - $2.3 Trillion - Debt to GDP 89%
China National Debt - $4.3 Trillion - Debt to GDP 41%
Nigeria National Debt - $73 Billion - Debt to GDP 21%

Debt is not the issue. It's what you do with it that's the issue.
Question is - If debt is rightly invested in infrastructure (that creates Capital Formation) or human capital (that keeps people alive & develop their skills and mental capacity), we'll be ok. If truth be told, a large Percentage of our National Debt was looted by the previous governments.

The conversation we should be having concerning our National Debt is
- Is it sustainable?
- What is it invested on?
- How much would those investments add to the GDP?
- When should we expect these ROI?

This government is committed to infrastructural awakening and is well on the course to achieving this with a time frame in mind after which we begin to get our ROI fast

These are some of the key indices that bring about an economical rating and yes as it stands now, Nigeria is the best economy in africa all thanks to this present Government which remained unwavering in the face of recession and maneuvered the nation out of those murky waters to the place where Forbes could now rate us as they have done.

Kudos to PMB and PYO.

A match made in heaven.

God bless Nigeria

Oga do you meant to US debt is $2.1? because the entire US economy is $21 trillion. Unless you are saying US economy = US debt.

If US with a debt of $24Trn is your dream land, then you should know better what debt is. Do you know how much Dangote owes? What about Innoson?

What is Good debt and bad debt? Is Lagos State not the state with the highest debt in Nigeria? Then the question is, why is Lagos the best state with infrastructures that everyone is running to? You obviously don't know nothing about economy, tax, and debt.
Every Lagosian owes the state 36k as at last time, that does not mean they can't pay.

Which Lagos? The one that Tinubu, Fashola and Ambode have stolen, looted and wrecked to the shittyhole status
Maybe you are not living in Lagos to see the suffering and hardship that people endure daily, which is partially documented in the thread below.

Another face saving. Please tell us what the exchange was in 1985 before ibb and False the SAP managers started devaluation of Naira.

Again even if you cannot start from 1985, you can at least start from Obj in 1999. Devaluation of national currency is economic management tool used all over the world including big countries like, America,UK and even Russia.
ok if all you morons do is to compare your saint buhari failure to the previous administration failure then I can say with all certainty that there is nothing special about your president as he has done exactly what previous administration did.a failure is a failure and don't rely on foreign media to tell you what is happening here. The economy was wrecked by the dollard and we all can feel it.

osinbajo is merely being used to win yoruba s vote for buhari cabals .
buhari and his cabal doesn't deserve to benefit from Awolowo legacy.

You are the one that obviously knows nothing about the economy and external debt and yes there is good debt and bad debt. US has a debt of $24trn which it used to better their economy, the debt was used for substantial projects and other investments, no country is without a debt yes but what I'm saying is that ours is not used for projects and investments, it is used for inconsequential thing, it is not used to better the economy, when a debt is not used for what it was initially set out to, the government will borrow more and this will lead to more accumulation of debts, before Nigeria will reach US level of economy, her debts must have accumulated to a very large amount, so don't tell me shite about the economy, I will be the one to tell you 'cause you know nothing apparently about the economy, also I have no business with politics section, I'm mostly in business sections 'cause that's where I'm good at, so don't the tell me to go back to romance section 'cause you are actually not making any iota of sense here.

These days everybody is now claiming to know so much about the economy, even a physics graduate wants to teach lecture about the economy, wonders shall never end.

The Nigerian media is mostly ignorant of what a real economy entails. They all regurgitates the same BS handed over to them from the West. You can hardly find someone with sound economic background doing journalism in Nigeria. Even if you find, they won’t communicate well with the people because the people too are either ignorant, illiterate, unexposed, or hypocrite.

The last time around, it was renowned wailer and world bank(Africa Vice President) economist Obi ezekwesili that got schooled on Twitter. You can imagine with her level of economics it shows she’s one of the hypocrites who knows the truth but are deliberately covering it up.

Even Dr joe Abah had to support Mr somoye against Aunty Obi on Twitter that day.

Like I told someone on Twitter, 2019 is going to be a battle between

The informed and the uninformed.
The exposed and the unexposed
The upright and the hypocrite
The guardian and the thieves

It’s no more about who can share the most rice, or the most money.(osun for example, look at PDP campaign in osun, very dull because no money to share. They’re now being forced to call a musician, DAVIDO, because he is family)
It’s about the future of the unborn generation.
It’s about substance over form.

Most importantly it’s going to be between the progressives and the conservatives.

On which side of history do we want our unborn generation to find us.

The ball is in everyone’s court.

Fake Forbes website. Forbesafrica

No statistics to back up this claim in the write up. Any reasonable Nigerian will be happy to read this news, if it is true, regardless of who is in power, be it Buhari or Jonathan. It is however very pathetic that you can cook up media stories to hype government's performances for political gain.
Real Forbes' website is forbes.com

What are u talking about? Blow us with facts! Nigeria's economy like u said is the largest but not most effective and or best in Africa.. not until this latest ranking by Forbes.

We should be thanking God... we don't have to relate every single story to politics
How daft and gullible can you people be! The best measurement of the well-being of people in any nation is per capital income. Nigerian per capital income is ridiculously low. More than 75% of Nigerians are living below 1dollar a day. Unemployment is climbing up daily...... among others economic woes. Nigeria now has the highest numbers of poor people in the world. Even PMB do not dispute that fact but some daft zombies will come to nairaland to spew thrash. Pathetic!

Ogah , Best economy but what is the per capita?
More than 70% of Nigeria cannot afford $1 per day and you call us the best economy. Of course we are the biggest economy since 2012 -13 but how have that reflected on the ordinary citizen's life?

my man! No matter how you explain to them ,they will still not reason to your explanation. Jonathan and okonjo school of taught on econmy is affecting their intelligence. I ahve one in my office, accountant for that matter, a graduate of OAU. The only thing you will be hearing from his mouth is that Buari borrowed money when they have recovered looted fund and so other jaggons. I used to let him know that at least he studies financial management and let him know all this point but he will be looking support from his group who doesnt understand anything about econmy and how to manage a borrowed fund successfully. Pmb still remain the best that has happen to nigeria. The best example is an increase in forien reseve and, development on capital projet and concentration on agricultural development which will yeild a positive inrterest for us in yeears to come
