A standard 214b refusal does not equate a "ban from applying" again. Please refer to these sites for additional information on visa requirements, denials, and ineligibilities: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-gen-faq.asp and https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visa-denials.html

Hello Lagos NIV,

I was recently refused a visa after 2 months on administrative processing. When I had my visa interview, the VO requested my sponsor should send an ebank statement which he was unable to do because his bank doesn't use the platform requested for. Later after several emails to Lagos NIV, I was told to send bank statements, it was sent and of course obtained from the bank to the best of my knowledge, because it carried stamp of the bank, and my sponsor told me he obtained it from the bank when I showed to him a mail I received from Lagos NIV that I have one more opportunity.

Now that I have been refused a visa and did not receive a mail pertaining to the refusal or retrieval of my passport. I am scared that I hope I would not be banned from applying because I have deferred my admission until Spring 2019 and intend applying again. Kindly advise.

Thank you.

First, it is not advised that you use an agent. Why pay someone to do something that you are perfectly qualified to do and for free. Second, the visa application is a legal document. When you submit this legal document you, essentially, confirm that you completed the form and that all data in the form is true. If your agent submits the form on your behalf, then you, essentially, have told an untruth on a legal document. This reflects poorly on your credibility. Your credibility affects every aspect of the visa application process today and in the future, for yourself and for your loved ones. In essence, it is in your best interest not to use an agent/tout.

hi!

please according to my agent; he told me just yesterday that he was unable to book an interview appointment for me here at Lagos embassy for this year as no date is unbooked.

please kindly confirm if he is saying the truth or not cos all these agents cant be 100% trusted and dont wanna take chances.

@LagosNIV,

I submitted my Dropbox application since the 17th of July and only got aware that my application is under administrative processing on the 10th of August on CEAC and that this process could take several weeks.
I also found out today that Consular services have been suspended in Abuja where I submitted my application. My question is this: what is the process of retrieving my passport as I have been requested to submit my passport at another country’s embassy for a Visa but I have not been able to do so because my passport is with the US consulate and as it is now, I don’t even know where it is. A check on ustraveldocs tells me there is no status update for my passport.
Please, how can I retrieve my passport and how long will this process take?
Thanks

This is a good question. Please note that a visa application concerns one person, only. So, you must complete a DS 160 for each person in your family. Please refer to the following sites on the visa application process and drop box renewal qualifications: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-visaapply.asp and http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-ds160complete.asp and http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-visarenew.asp

Please someone help me out, I just stumbled across this thread now, my family(family of 5), our US Visa expired yesterday(17th August, 2018) and we intend renewing, please what are the steps to this, is it still possible for us to receive an interview waiver(if yes) does that mean each of us has to fill the DS-160 form again and Schedule appointment, I would need a step by step on what to do thanks in anticipation

If you were refused a visa during your last interview, then you need to reapply for the B1/B2 visa. Refer to this site for accurate information on the visa application process http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-visaapply.asp

Morning AbujaNIV and LagosNIV,

My I-20 stated that I will be using family as my funding source for PhD. My total fee is $32k inclusive of tuition, living expenses and books.
Fortunately for me, I got a funding guarantee letter from my department awarding me $18k as stipend for one year.

My questions goes thus:

Is it advisable to take my uncle's company account statement for interview to show that he will cover the remaining cost?

I have personal savings that can cover the remaining fee if I won't be using family funds, should I present my personal account statement and funding letter from my department if VO asked about who is sponsoring me?

Is there is any negative impact if am not showing evidence of family funding as stated on my I-20?

You must wait six months after your most recent interview before reapplying for another B1/B2 visa.

Dear LagosNIV

I applied for a visa renewal about 3 weeks ago and I've just been told to schedule a follow-up appointment
However, earliest follow-up appointment is in Feb 2019.

I intend to make the trip in Dec. How can I get an earlier date please?

thank you! I finally got a mail for my passport retrieval and a blue paper stating I can reapply.

Hi, you are doing a good job. Can you post the email address of your embassy where complaints are directed to. An aunt of mine was recently refused despite her good travel history. It seems the embassy no longer counts travel history as being relevant, she's 58 and owns many properties, thanks.

Hello LagosNIV. Thanks for the last time out.

I applied for a B1 all by myself against the advice of friends. They thought I should have engaged the services of an agent. I got a lot of help from US Embassy website and LagosNIV and did it alone. I was initially placed on 221g but I did eventually get the visa and travelled.

My B1 expires soon and I need to have it renewed. I've read up the requirements for Interview Waiver (also called Dropbox if I understand correctly). Just one more thing I need to know for certain: after paying the statutory visa-fee to GTBank and filling out the DS-160, what would I be expected to do thereafter?

My spouse and kids have never been issued US visas before now. I hope to travel with them hopefully next time out. I have a valid B1 which I'm about to renew. Would I be allowed to include their passports in my renewal requests or is it going to be a fresh appointment for them?

Hello LagosNIV/AbujaNIV, it seems putting all visa waivers on "schedule follow up appointment" is the new wave. Any way, what if i don't want to book a follow up and just want my passport back for other purposes how do i go about that. Please your urgent response on this issue will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello LAGOSNIV,

I had my interview on the 16th of August 2018, My passport was collected and I was given a letter that stated a new/revised I-20 with a correct date of arrival in the future should be provided. Two weeks later my passport was available for pick up with the same letter stating I should provide the new/revised I-20 with a correct date of arrival in the future and now I have the new/revised 1-20 and want to know if I can drop it off with my passport at the Dhl pick up center.

Thank you in advance.

hello VO,
Please, I need some urgent assistance here.
I applied for a B1 Visa for a conference/training in California. It is an all expenses paid. I have a startup which was certified partner to one of the giant tech companies. This training is aimed at developing our agency to handle a new project.

This was explained to the VO, who I believe stepped out of his counter to make necessary calls, leaving me standing for quite a long time.
Upon return he collected my passport and issued me a white paper ticked Administrative Processing.

Two days later I got an sms to pick up my passport from dhl at about 4pm. The next day I retrieved my passport with a white paper tucked inside, requesting me to reschedule a follow-up interview. I logged in but the follow up button is not yet unlocked. I sent a feedback using the form, despite the reply from the Lagos Consulate it hasn't opened.

Please, how can I get this done in order to reschedule a follow-up interview. It was hell for me getting this singular opportunity. You all know the situation with appointment dates and my event is scheduled from October 15,2018

Hello LagosNiv. My visa expired October 16 and I tried renewing via Dropbox, don't know if I did the right thing. Filled DS-160, and printed the confirmation page, paid at GTB and logged on to CGI and completed the process and printed the confirmation sheet with interview schedule for January 2019. I don't know how I ended with interview schedule instead of drop box waiver

I just graduated from a Nigerian polytechnic in August 2018 and I wish to go visit my girlfriend who's a US citizen. She will be graduating from college by June 2019 and I wish to be at her graduation. I actually have relatives who are US citizens but I don't know if I would be given a visa; cos I have heard lot of people say if you are not married, don't have a job and no travel history you may not be given a visa. So I want to be advised on the best approach to getting a visa.

Hi nairalander, please i need your help on this issue. My parent's visit visa was issued on 5th of September till date they haven't gotten their passport, DHL didn't contact them or text them if it's available for pick up...It's over a month now since their passport as been submitted.

I have sent an email to the US embassy regarding this issue....we haven't gotten a valid information on the status of their visa /passport. I tracked their application on www.ceac.state.gov "it was Issued", i tracked their passport online but i got this message "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted" they haven't gotten a call, email or text message from the US embassy or DHL for passport pickup. It's a month now.

please has anyone experienced this issues? I will appreciate.

Thank you

Hello LagosNIV,
I have read about people's visa being cancelled and them not knowing about it until they are about to check in at the airport and not allowed in, In one of the cases the individual went to the embassy to clarify the visa cancellation and was told the visa was cancelled because he did not travel at the stated time.

I have a valid visa that I have not used and would like to know the status, is there a site I can check to verify that?

Thanks
