From on shore/ Offshore oil dichotomy,

To the oil Boom Era of Uncommon Transformation....!

From Uncommon Transformation to the Industrialisation Era!

Sadly all the Industrialization is happening in 1 Local government(Onna L.G.A) out of the 31 L.G.A of the State.

This is the Industrialization in my Area....

I can personally verify the claims here and I'm not even an Akwa Ibomite (so as not to say I'm being partisan). Roads such as Udoette, Itu, Nelson Mandela, Urua Ekpa, and many others in the Itam axis are 100% terrible. These are not slums or villages. They form a central part of Uyo city. Infact, the University of Uyo campus in the city center directly borders on these roads.

Sometime ago, some contractors came to repair Nelson Mandela Road, and even made moves to tar a street off the road but after busybodying for some weeks, they abandoned the project.

Note that: Gov. Udom has been tarring roads in other parts of the city (notably the Oron road axis). However, he seems to be defiant on repairing the roads in the Itam axis. These are major roads which visitors may see and they don't tell good of the giant strides Akwa Ibom State has made. If only I could snap the roads here. What the OP posted is just a tip of the iceberg as he didn't snap the major roads. Itu Road is so bad that motorists have to take a longer route just to avoid the bad spots. These roads do not even need repairs or patching. They need complete overlay.

The road problem in the Itam axis of Uyo also manifests in the electricity supply. The outages and load shedding in the Itam axis is so bad that one cannot help but wonder how it got from being one of the best in Nigeria to its abysmal state.

You don't know Uyo, as obviated from your comment. I, therefore, do not see the rationale for your attack on the Op. Itu highway is different from Itu Road.

Secondly, nobody is comparing Akwa Ibom with Kogi. I am from Delta State and trust me, the worst roads in Uyo do not even come anywhere near some of the roads we have in Delta State. However, should the OP keep quiet about his ENTITLEMENT because others have it worse? NO!!! I feel he didn't even complain enough.

Next time, evaluate situations before you comment or just learn to move on without revealing your ignorance about certain situations. Good morning and have a nice day.

I don't know uyo, but I know calabar very well. What will you now say of my state the center of bad roads. Abia state. I figured out the problem. Sometimes it's the contractors that don't build good plan for the road there by causing it not to last long or using substandard material. You're in uyo, you should know that ikot ekpene road. Road is bad, congested and almost cutting away. I blame present, past FG

The OP is talking about state roads, not federal roads. And yes, there are bad roads generally in Nigeria. We can always add new ones to the list and that is what the Op just did.

How old is Akwa Ibom state?
Are there no bad roads in Lagos the former capital territory of Nigeria?
Do you know that Akwa Ibom state is a coastal state and it is likely for flooding during this raining season?
Pls leave my deal state alone.
