You can Install the modded Pixel Launcher, that will allow using Icon Packs... Would post a link but I don't wanna get banned... You can message me on WhatsApp or Telegram and i can give you a link or send you the apk

Your Gallery app should ask you whether or not you wish to Crop... As shown below... If you select no then it won't Crop

You can dirty flash... I always dirty flashed MIUI Pro back then when I used it... In fact any ROMs I used I always dirty Flashed Updates... Clean flashing is always the Safer option tho, to avoid bugs. If you don't have any issues with reinstalling all your apps then just Clean flash, plus since you say you are doing it for Gcam you should probably Clean flash to avoid any issues.

BTW if all this ya hustle is for Gcam why not just Flash an AOSP custom ROM... And easily install any Gcam app of your choice. Installing Gcam on MIUI is plenty Stress, as you are currently experiencing first hand ^o^
