Politically, since the birth of the Turkish Othoman Empire, the country has always been considered politically as European. It has been actively involved in European affairs since the 10th century and historically, the larger part of the empire have been on European territory than elsewhere. It was from Europe that the Othomans spread out to conquer Arabia, Egypt, North Africa as well as parts of Iran.

The Turks lost much of their empire after WW1 and the modern state of Turkey has remain largely European since then. So yes, while Turkey is geographically both European and Asian, it is politically European and is not involved at all in any Asian regional activity. The same goes for Russia.

Not to confuse you, Israel and Khazakstan are both entirely on the Asian continent. However, both countries are aligned politically with Europe for political, economic and security reasons. These are exceptions and must not be confused with the case of Turkey and Russia.

Just to clarify for the sake of the confused. Turkey is also not an Arab nation. They have extremely minority Arab, Jewish, Armenian, Kurdish etc citizens but the bulk of the people are ethnic Turks whose forebears conquered most of Eastern Europe 800 years ago.

Fulfilment and life’s opportunities are relative. For many people in ICT, finance, business analysis and others, it is quite easy to get jobs. For people of the traditional professions, the licensing process and all mean that it takes time to meet the requirements for jobs in the short term. With patience and determination, they make lots of money in the medium and long term. I am a lawyer and still trying to get licensed.


What professions are they in? They do need Canadian work experience on their resumes to get jobs.The only way to get it is by volunteering and internships. The Canadian government invests heavily on these. Tell them to be patient and work the path, it’s not automatic unless they studied here.

I am a very practical person. I can tell you that it’s easier for immigrants to succeed here than anywhere in the world. The jobs people fight for in the U.K., nobody applies for them here. I am happy to chat more on this.

Canadian natives have some terrifying lore like the Wendigo. In the long dark arctic nights, if hunters find no fare and die from the harsh conditions...If any of them commit the act of cannibalism by eating the flesh of their fallen fellow, they turn into Wendigo, a demon in human skin which will terrorize the villages and wreak mayhem. It's scarier than the horror movies.
